This is the Bird Rock Blend brought to you by Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. A custom blend of Washed and Wet Hulled methods from Colombia and Sulawesi, this combination of easy-drinking coffees create a unique harmony of flavors that are greater than the sum of its parts.
Nice spicy medium-dark roast with a lot of complexity, can be pulled longer for a pure dark chocolate/pepper, or shorter to bring out a bit of citrus acidity.
Rich and well-balanced, not as dark as I was worried it might be. Great as espresso, didn't try as cold brew yet.
Thick and spice is nice
Okay, but a bit too acidic and dark
Bird Rock is some of my favorite!
A little punchy, not bad but would like to try something smoother or floral
A little too roasty
really liked this blend, like how "smooth" and rich it was.
Too strong for my taste.
I enjoyed this! (Writing my review a couple months late, but I did recall liking. The flavor notes seemed fairly accurate too.)
Smooth and Fudgy
Excellent coffee! Very tasty espresso especially when you get a nice extraction.
I LOVED this coffee. I bought a lot of the cheap stuff over Covid. This reminded me how good coffee could be. More like this please!!!
Loved this one!
Decent flavor, but as I brewed the cups they felt a bit flat, kinda like cardboard
Great nose. Came through a little thin on the taste
A bit too dark for my taste.
It's OK. I don't get a ton of flavor or spice on the taste.
Delicious. Appreciate the coffee ratio — it made a luscious cup!
Great chocolately espresso. I got good results brewing at a lower temperature (~196F)
Maybe I brewed wrong (French press, 200°, 4 minutes, coarse grind) but my wife though it was sour.
Smooth drinkability and very subtle flavor notes..
we like how smooth and yet flavorful this blend was. more like this please!
Great cup of coffee. You can’t really taste the notes
This coffee is just a bit too acidic for my taste -- the oatmilk I put in it this morning curdled so I drank my second cup of it black. The packaging is great and it smells wonderful, but it's just a little too bright for me. If you like single origins, I think it's a good match for you.
Rich, chocolate fudge goodness
We thought this tasted bitter and bland.
Definitely taste the fudge and richness, which is nice. Lacking a bit of brightness and complexity.
It was good, thought spice flavors really shined through
Loved it. Great morning wake me up coffee. Smelled wonderful even before brewing. Nice and rich with smooth taste.
Good coffee, I liked the strength and was able to get some of the chocolate notes.
We enjoyed this roast. It was smooth. Darker roasts aren't our favorite, but this one was flavorful and smoother than most darker roasts we've had.
A little too bitter.
too fruity. too strong. I prefer a much milder smoother flavor not anything fruity. My favorite coffee is Lavazza Gran AROMA
Too dark and a little bitter. Not very interesting of flavor.
Brewed in a drip coffee maker. Subtle notes of apple on the back of the palate. I could not detect the fudge notes. A solid depth of coffee flavor. May try it in the french press next. A good roast profile. I do like dark roasts and this spans the line between medium and dark without too much brightness.
Edit: I tried it via French Press this afternoon. 16.9 fl oz. water to approximately 30ish grams coffee (was dialing in my JavaPresse hand grinder after cleaning so not 100% certain). I could definitely get the fudge notes more with this brewing, but lost the apple notes. I'd say this is a great French Press coffee.
Next shipment, can we try to get a dark roast that is great in the drip brewer?
I liked it, however it left a bitter aftertaste that seemed unusual for a medium roast.
Great mild blend - perfect for everyone's palate.
Not a huge fan of spice sometimes. I don't like cinnamon for example.
Not very complex flavor
Smooth, not bitter, great flavor, just what I like. Thank you
Great rich taste, not bitter. Flavors are mild but mix together perfectly.
I found this roast a little dark, smoky and bitter after taste.
Really good stuff. I make it with an aeropress, and it's got incredible flavor. Only knock is that it isn't as "clean" tasting as most coffees I make with the aeropress. Overall very good.
I really enjoyed the flavor and taste. My husband thought it was OK
I definitely liked this one - however, even for a medium roast, this was a little dark for me! (That being said, please feel free to keep going with the medium roasts.) Looking forward to the next selection!
Was Okay. A bit sour for my taste
Nice sooth cup of coffee with good flavor
Matt & Jeane
Excellent!! Great flavor, Not bitter and finishes really well! I could drink this all day!
Great as a darker blend
Great, one of my favorite ever
Brenda & Larry
It is great. We liked the roast. The flavor was great. We would purchase this coffee in the future.
Like this one
The coffee was very fresh, and it was a nice blend, just a little too earthy for me, Perhaps it was the black pepper notes. All in all, I was quite pleased.
Love the flavor. Nice and strong without walloping you over the head.
The fudge flavor is very noticeable, each sip being like a bite of dark chocolate. This brew lacks the same flavor complexity and smoothness of previous roasts on the queue.
A bit too bright/acidic
Delicious and very smooth. Reminded me of a great cup of diner coffee.
This was good but a little too dark for me.
A good enjoyable cup. Nothing to fancy or anything that stood out though.
Lovely chocolate notes with a smooth rich finish
Also tastes a bit darker than I would normally like
definitely has a deep rich fudge flavor, it goes great with cream.
I ground these beans to a fine/extra fine consistency for use in my breville barista express espresso machine. I enjoyed the espresso's mild fudgey taste as an espresso shot, as a latte, as well as an americano with a little bit of creamer. To me it tasted the best when served as an americano. The smell was very pleasant and I am looking forward to future shipments.
It a decent blend. Not bold enough for me
Nice smooth rich flavor.
It's a dark roast that doesn't feel like a dark roast! Ok ok ok, I know it's not a DARK roast, but so far, this is the darkest coffee that I've enjoyed from Mistobox's recommendations. If you don't like dark roast, try this. It might be a gateway for you
No flavor. Coffee tasted washed out.
Very good cup of coffee, one of my favorites you've sent
i like this better than the second coffee, but not quite as much as the first. The bag mentions apple tones. I think I prefer chocolate tones, along with nuts or vanilla, rather than fruit tones. I like the richness and fudge tones of this one.
Juicy, rich, full of flavor with a hint of acidity. Gets better with each sip.
Note: I did move to a Kalita Wave on this bag, so results may be slightly skewed against the last review.
