This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
The Mind Tonic Espresso was carefully roasted for you by Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. Enjoy this espresso on its own or with milk for a creamy, decadent cappuccino. This rich and complex espresso blend has tasting notes of baker’s chocolate and almonds.
Too light for my preference. Not bold enough. Was not a favorite of mine.
Acid ratio was pretty good. The nose wasnt great but it tasted rich with goof bitterness
Made as an espresso, latte and American, this coffee had a nice smooth, slightly sweet taste. No dark roast taste which I appreciate in an espresso roast. I believe Onyx, The Monarch is still my favorite so far.
Not a huge fan of this one - the flavor is too nutty for our taste.
If I'd gotten this before Tony's Espresso Noir it might have gotten 4/5 stars, but while it was a solid coffee it didn't shine nearly as much as the Tony's did.
I really enjoyed this coffee. Out of the two coffee's I have received, this was my favorite.
One of the best I've ever had. Rich chocolaty flavor was on point
OK - leaned more toward Italian roast than we like
Excellent flavor. Great in both espresso and americano formats. It even went well in an Aeropress, though I preferred it with the Espresso machine.
This is fantastic!!
Loved this coffee, pulled really easily as an espresso and was super mooth
Good, lighter in espresso machine and sweet in French press.
LOVE this coffee! Perfect blend for iced latte! Absolutely delicious!
Did not like this one at all.
Great coffee but I think I like the previous one a little more. Thank you!!!
Good espresso. But some of the flavours were not to my preference. Not sure how to describe disliked flavours.
Perfect roast for espresso, but tastes quite bitter. Didn't love it overall.
Wasn’t a big fan of the cherry notes. It took a while to dial in the settings for this one on my espresso machine. Ended up with a coarser Grind and lower dosage to mellow out the sour notes.
It was just okay. Would not reorder.
Just a regular coffee. Definitely much more better from what you can have in grocery. But I would not buy an extra bag for sure. Feels like it was not enough flavor and smell. We do have a professional coffee machine at home. With a grinder. So we tried to brew it different ways, still just the average taste.
Not for me. It had a very weak and sour flavor to me.
watery, no flavor, light beans
This is excellent. Buttery smooth.
Nicely balanced. Complex.
Was a little bit bland! Surprising for a coffee called Mind Tonic.
It is a bit too acidic and fruit flavored for my personal preference, but it's not bad coffee by any means. I'm just not a big fan of the grapefruit flavor. It also took me a little while to dial this particular coffee in correctly to pull a good shot.
The coffee was ok, it ground oddly. The beans didn't break up easily. Then when I drank it, it was very watery. I tried it in my keurig but am going to try it in a press next. Maybe need something stronger? Thank you!
After opening the bag, I could pick up on the nutty, chocolate smells.
I noticed that these beans were rather light in comparison to other espresso/coffee beans we have used before-not bad, different from what I was expecting.
We made a two shot espresso and my initial taste was that it was bitter-not to my liking.
I usually drink as an iced latte and poured the shots into almond milk with vanilla syrup and enjoyed that.
We brewed another 2 shots of espresso and my husband made a warm chocolate latte w low-fat milk-that was good as well.
Alone as just espresso was ok, mixed w milk was good.
Overall not a bad daily coffee. It is strong enough to keep me awake. I loved the chocolate flavor it gave at the end of each sip however at the beginning I did not enjoy the fruity flavor.
This coffee was very balanced and smooth. I've only had a chance to try it as a drip coffee. Hopefully in the next couple days I'll try it as an espresso too.
I don't mind getting out of my comfort zone though on future orders.
Just okay. Not too exciting
Mind Tonic Espresso is perhaps the best coffee I have ever had! Wow! Upon opening the bag, a captivating cherry aroma filled the kitchen, promising a delicious and decadent brew. Certainly amoungst the smoothest of coffees - rich, flavorful and amazingly! Please send me more, Seth! :)
A little too strong to drink black from a drip machine.
It was just ok
Seemed like a quality coffee but not to my liking.
Again, good, but not great. Missing what seems to me to be depth.
Anodyne in the past has felt more developed than this espresso presented itself. I tried multiple different variations of it to drink solo but could never quite get it to wow me. In milk, it played nicely with plenty of roasted nut and dark chocolate tones. Showed through nicely with a bit of demerara simple syrup.
The flavor profile is slightly less bold, but you did give me what I asked for on the top end. A slight increase in acidity, gives it a bright note, but there are no other bright components to it. So I'm going to give you license to give me something much more complex. I can't do oily beans in my machine, but feel free to give me something with lots of complex flavors. If that means, abandoning the dark notes a bit, I'm cool with that.
This was my fave so far!
This worked well in drinks with milk, but was a bit too citrusy as straight espresso.
Not too bitter, which I liked, but with a light, round note at the end that I didn't particularly enjoy (sorry for the poor description, it's hard to describe with words). I like the chocolaty taste of a darker roast without the bitter. I don't like citrus notes.
Too rich and nutty for me.
Best one I’ve had since the first one that was sent! Smooth with chocolatey notes
on first few brewings, crema on the espresso is thin both in color and consistency. The body of the espresso is lighter than I prefer and lacks mouth feel, tannins or taste complexity (only subtle bittersweet chocolate). Will continue to play with grind settings and water ratios in hopes of getting a better pull
Thought this was a little boring. It was good but not memorable. A pretty “safe” coffee.
Amazing. This is one of my favorites.
Definitely enjoyed the balance of flavors here, even the citrusy bit. A little thin/weak for taste, but overall I enjoyed this much more than the first brew. Good pick--keep 'em coming!
Well rounded and good flavors but overall a little thin for my taste. Preferred the Dillano’s
Very tasty and great as americano and latte
It had good and interesting flavors.
Not bad, a bit lighter than I usually prefer. Thinner body and some sourness even. Preferred the Fast Track much more.
I didn't really like this one too much. I though it was too light with an unpleasant citrusy flavor.
One of the best coffees I have ever tasted. It has an almost cherry finish, an amazing nutty, rich, and dark front. This makes amazing moka pot coffee, pour over, and french press. I loved it.
This roast was fantastic! I do admit that by itself it was quite bold and had an interesting taste, but with some cream/milk it was perfection. You can truly taste the almond notes. The cherry not as much, but still great flavor. Will be ordering this one again.
I prefer the full-bodied flavor of the Special Dark Blend. The Mind Tonic Espresso had less depth, and a more mild, brighter flavor.
I didn't find this one to be very rich at all. Pretty thin in body and texture no matter whether I made a straight shot, an Americano, or a latte. I like the flavor and the smoothness, just felt that it was thin and a little sad, like a blind date who did everything right but...meh.
The Mind Tonic has a pleasant taste. I prefer a bolder coffee with not so much chocolate flavor. The first blend was preferable -- I enjoyed the more aromatic, bolder but not bitter like I often get with Starbucks.
Wasn't rich enough
I found the coffee to be mild. I prefer the Atomic Blend by Anodyne.
I don't usually like anything but dark roasts, and so was skeptical when I opened the bag and the beans had that smell an color of a lighter (medium) roast. But once brewed I was surprised to find myself perfectly content. My husband was less happy -- "I don't know, it's pretty mild."
Did not like this as much as the Fast Track Blend--seemed to be a bit bland in comparison. Would like caramel and chocolate notes to be a bit stronger.
Definitely prefer a medium roast for espresso than a dark roast. I would be open to a slightly darker roast than this one but this coffee is good.
really solid good coffee.
Well balanced espresso, works really well with milk in a latte. Pick up caramel flavors and almond.
Rich but not bold. Nutty and not bitter. Chocolate/Caramel hints
This coffee had a bright upside flavor and was declared smooth by my wife, I found that it lacked the depth I am accustomed to in an expresso coffee.
I brewed it in a drip pot and also in a french press. I thought it was just OK. Expresso flavors for sure, but it lacked depth. I drink all my coffee black, no sugar either. I did not pick up on the chocolate and almond.
A little bland. I definitely like the medium/light side of the spectrum, but I do like apparent flavors. This one just felt weak.
Also, I marked in my settings that I use ChemEx and French Press to brew my coffee...and this is an espresso roast. Why's that? I don't have a way to make espresso, nor do I prefer espresso.
This one was great as a latte, very creamy, but the taste wasn’t right as an espresso. Not sure what it was lacking though. Actually after drinking it more we didn’t like this one as much, it has no kick. Not impressed.
Really nice! Awesome coffee, hope I had known sooner!

It’s better than the first coffee. I don’t think I’m typically a fan of arabica beans. I liked it better as coffee than I did espresso. It seemed Very caffeinated.
Not sure if it was the delay in shipping, (it ended up taking more than a week to actually get to my house) It had been off roast for 20 days by the time I received it. I found the flavors to be good, but very subtle. In my morning cappuccino I could barely make out the coffee.
I really liked the flavor! I prefer a smooth nutty taste.
A lot of cherry flavors, if that could be toned down this would be perfect. The chocolate and nutty flavors are nicely balanced and the earthy tones are less pronounced, which is preferred.
Disliked. tasted more like a weak tea. I will try it later as a cold brew.
My favorite coffee is Columbian.
it made a weaker cup of coffee. I like a good strong cup. had kind of a "green" taste to it. almost tea like...

Well it’s hard to say. I don’t own an espresso machine and in the survey I thought I put automatic drip on what I brew with.
I enjoyed it! I'm not sure if was the darkness of it or the smoky flavor that didn't make me love it, but it was still good.
Great nutty flavor
This is a mild, okayish coffee. For a newbie, this is a good baseline.
The best was last. Super creamy and smooth. Absolutely delicious
Really hit the spot for us in the "arctic freeze" temperatures. Even as a drip coffee, you get a lot of nuance. No milk required to feel like a decadent high-end coffee-shop experience in multiple pajamas, and no driving required.
A bit on the sour/weak side, although possibly due to my inexperience with grinding my own beans?
This was way too acidic for our liking and brewed very light. We didn't like this one at all and will be tossing it out.
Too light and spicy for my liking. Nice packaging.
Pretty good. I can taste the chocolate and almond flavor (I think). However, this is the first time I've ground my own beans so I'm still working out the kinks of dialing in espresso shots.
Too light bodied for me and a bit of a bitter aftertaste.
Don't send this again please!
It was easy to drink and made a good cappuccino, however it wasn't very distinctive or flavourful.
Good coffee, but the roasting could be more. Also I am comparing it with my old coffee brand. It was a medium roast but felt more roasted and darker.
I thought it was fine, though I wished the chocolatey notes were stronger and the overall taste was less acidic and less bitter.
Definitely a smooth and rich espresso. Smelled and tasted great.
Made as espresso shot. Cherry/Citrus undertone was strong for my taste.
This coffee tasted good, not spectacular but good and I think will be just fine with milk-based drinks. I often prepare a double shot of espresso in the morning and drink one shot by itself, reserving the other for making cappuccino. The espresso shot tasted somewhat acidic and bitter, and I have several syrups on hand that I use to sweeten my coffee. However, I tend to judge a good espresso based on how it tastes without any added flavor. I’m using a firm tamp and my machine is using 9 bars of pressure, with the double shot taking about 25-30 seconds. I hope that helps.
Nicely balanced, definitely chocolatey/nutty with a faint hint of berry at the end. A little bit one-note but it's a good note.
I enjoyed the espresso but would like an espresso that has a little bolder flavor
3.5/5. Was able to pull some pretty consistent shots with this once I got the right grind. The"Bakers chocolate" taste is very light on the first sip, it's mostly an almond-y body, and as it claims, does have a waxy finish. The citrus flavors were a bit more difficult to distinguish though so if you make a drink with milk you should dial it back a little to get more of those flavors.
A little too acidic for my liking. Looking for more of a balanced/sweet taste
This is an awesome coffee, very rich and flavorable.
tasted water downed. Also, has a weird taste to it. NOT A FAN!
Not our favorite. Just not very smooth.
The initial aroma is very buttery, it's absolutely amazing. It's one of the smoothest espresso shots I've ever pulled. I would definitely get this again when I've tried about all I can try.
It was very sour. I'd prefer something more chocolate like.
It was ok, not as dark and rich as I usually prefer. The beans seemed very dry and not oily at all.
Nice aroma and bean texture. I expected it to be darker based on the espresso designation. Taste is initially nice, nutty as described. The citrus follow-on is too strong for my tastes (acidity?). I prefer a more hearty, earthy closing.
Mild but smooth and flavorful. Light to medium bodied. I enjoyed this espresso, but am interested in experimenting other flavors.
The coffee was a bit too mild for our taste. But we are excited to try the next one!
Similar criticism as the Nerve version of this brand. I could taste the difference between Mind and nerve, but the end product was not as thick/creamy as I prefer my espressos to be.
Like the chocolate flavor. Expected the beans to be a darker roast with more oil.
I liked tasting something new and interesting but the citrus taste lingered and that is not what I'm seeking in my cup.
I tried a couple different brew methods with this one. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'm just missing the palate for this one but it seemed completely flavorless to me.
EDIT: Finally tried this in a pour-over and got some flavor out of it.
Really enjoyed the flavors and body of this one. Very smooth.
Chocolatey and nutty, but not over-roasted.Definitely get some fruity notes as well.Beans are good and dry (not sweaty)Slightly bitter aftertaste, but not overpowering in any way.
The name "espresso" would indicate a dark roasted bean but these beans look blonde. The finish is acidic and not like any espresso roast product I've enjoyed before. If i liked blondes I might enjoy it but I'm not a blonde fan at all. Perhaps the wrong beans were placed in this bag? The packaging is beautiful, I love the reclosable bag, and the shipping was super fast.
Good roast level. No roast date on the bag, but seemed fresh.
A well balanced coffee that does nothing wrong. It just doesn't have a pronounced character. It's solid but not as impressive as I was hoping.
Excellent, notes just as advertised. Very complex without any hint of bitterness.
One of my favorite espressos of all time. Great balance of flavor when used for cappuccinos and strait shots. I will definitely be ordering more in the future!
sour, fruity taste with a bit of a dark chocolate/nutty finish. A bit to sour for my tastes
smooth with a rich chocolate taste and a great crema
very smooth, chocolate notes - loved it!
Has a great after taste.
A solid espresso. Chocolaty and coffee-y; the roast is a touch on the lighter side, so the flavor may strike some as mild. I did not detect flowers or citrus, although I may be limited by my espresso setup in that regard. Recommended.
Great flavor. Not too sweet but still chocolatey with interesting nuances with every pull. Really liked this one.
