There is a smoky earthy taste to this coffee that we don’t like. We’ve been putting twice as much cream in our coffee to make it more to our liking.

Amazing coffee. Rich, chocolate, not bitter. Coats the mouth. DH thinks it tastes like the coffee used to make Hagen Daze coffee ice cream.

I love this dark roast.

I generally thought this had a good flavor and aroma, however I found it a little too smoky for my taste. I think just bit lighter on this roast would have been almost perfect.

This was extremally full boded. The grind it came with was almost too fine for pour over. This was also short of extra dark as well. It has notes for me of more burnt sugar than smoky.

I liked this blend better in an auto setup than my French press. It was strong and smoky. Great in the morning.

I liked Howie's Blend a lot and will order it again. However, my tastes go towards the dark roast end of the spectrum, which some looking for a medium-dark flavor and not more may find a bit much. It does taste of chocolate, as the blurb says, but without the bitterness that can accompany that flavor.
