This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Dillanos Coffee Roasters will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
The Special Dark Blend was carefully roasted for you by Dillanos Coffee Roasters. This classic Northwest-style blend is engineered to provide superb sweetness in a dark roast format. The Special Dark blend is versatile and tastes great as an espresso blend or as a filter coffee, brewed as drip or French Press. The cup is full bodied with intense notes of smoke and rich pastry.
While certainly a dark roast, this coffee does not have the complexity of tastes that I enjoy either for espresso or for a morning drip brew.
I like how it starts off sweet and ends strong.
Smooth but bold
Even though I like darker roasts this one is a bit too tart for my taste.
Good coffee. Brewed in french press. I'd give it 3.5 stars. Nothing wrong with it, but I couldn't find the same fullness, richness, or depth of flavor that previous dark roasts had. I found it a bit flatter, or "one note." A little smoky and bitter which I don't mind, but taste any sweetness/chocolate to balance it out.
Very good - As described and would buy again.
Rich, creamy, has a real depth of flavor without just tasting like black coffee. Love it.
Great smell, really good flavors
Really liked the aroma and the floor profile of this coffee.
Too smoky/roasted, not enough flavor depth
FYI - we loved this coffee...it seemed like it might be a little oily but worked (and tasted!) great...
The last 5 coffees have all been DCR Special Dark. This is good coffee but I would like variety.
Overall this was an OK coffee but it did seem a bit bland to me. With drip, french press, and pour over it lacked substance. Although it was better than your average grocery store brand, it didn't stand out enough to warrant the added cost. It could be that my first selection set the "fresh-roast bar" a little too high.
Everything. More like this please. Darker the better. I can't remember which bc I'm not in the habit of doing this routinely, but one of the past few was LIGHT and I really wasn't a fan.
These beans were very oily. We had to fully clean out our grinder after using them. I don't think they're fit for espresso.
I did not like this coffee. It was too dark for me and had a burnt flavor. I enjoyed the first coffee you sent much better than the current one.
I found it to be little acidic and oily. After trying different measurement then usual, it came out to be good coffee
The chocolatey notes came through nicely. I like the full - bodied flavor. Kinda fruity.
Full bodied, but balanced. Just what I like in a dark roast.
I thought this coffee was tasty! It reminded me of the super dark coffee I drank in my college days. The only thing I didn't love was how smoky it is (it reminds me a lot of a French Roast flavor). But overall it makes a tasty Americano!
Not as enjoyable as the first coffee we received.
This also tasted much more burnt than I'd like (which was my critique of the last coffee I got as well). Maybe a medium roast would be better for me?
I believe the roast is a bit much for my taste. The coffee while bold, lacks nuance and taste a bit too smoky.
I like the first one better. This one was very generic and tasted like your average cup of coffee at a restaurant.
Very nice, smooth taste. Nothing wrong with this one at all, just liked it a little less than the first.
A good dark roast with strong Smoky flavor. Finish is a little bitter but overall a very good coffee. Too strong for some.
Nicely balanced, a bit mild.
Great flavor and aroma
Smooth, with a nice roast-y smell. There was a new flavor we couldn't identify at first, but we really liked it the second morning.
While I tend to love dark coffee, this one just didn't do anything for me taste-wise.
Flavor will very strong and bitter. Wasn’t smooth at all. Won’t want this again!
Ok flavor, but I think we’re more fans of bold than full-bodied.
I'm enjoying this one quite a bit. There is a slight acidic bite on the back of my tongue is the only drawback.
I’m so picky about my coffee and I really loved this one!
Prepared via espresso machine. This coffee was rich and complex. I very much enjoyed it.
Good flavor, a little more bitter aftertaste than the first coffee making this slightly behind that one for us.
Had a strong character without tasting burnt or overly flavored. Easy to drink
Dark, delicious and rich. This was a beautiful full bodied coffee with a kick.
Very good for a dark roast - not overly bitter or acidic. Liked it when prepared with an aeropress, nut not an espresso machine.
Definitely what I was looking for. Love the dark roasted flavor.
slightly darker than we prefer.
Just ok, would not choose again.
This coffee is very good, i really enjoy the taste.
Great coffee. Nice and rich and was great in my French press. Would get again
good strength --- not as full as i had hoped
Love its boldness and coffee tastes amazing :-)
This coffee was full bodied, smooth and sweet. My favorite brew method so far was french press, I also tried drip and espresso. I will definitely be re-ordering this one.
Not sure how to describe what i didnt like about it, maybe too earthy. Kind of a dirt taste, maybe?
Not that great.
Brewed this as espresso and tried it as an Americano and a latte. Overall it was good but didn't have the strong, full-bodied character that I typically associate with darker roasts. Even with three shots, the taste was not as strong as I'd hoped for. Not bad, but not fantastic.
BY far my favorite coffee roast so far
One of the best coffees I have ever had. It seemed to be perfectly balanced.
Liked very much. Smooth, smoky and enjoyable.
Dark and flavorful! Lots of smoky notes and a bit of creme brought out some sweetness!
Delicious smooth texture
Definitely on the stronger side. Sit closer to 17g or it will lean towards bitter
I don’t dislike this coffee, it’s iust not my favorite. I think the smoky flavor is what’s getting me. I almost thought it was too dark, but in reading the notes I think it’s the smoke flavor. Just not my favorite!
Just got back from vacation to find my new coffee had arrived. I am having my first taste now. I find this blend to be a bit dark and bold for my taste and would say I liked the first blend I received more. I can really taste the smokiness of this coffee. I believe a milder, less bold coffee would be a better fit.
A very enjoyable cup of coffee! I could smell the dark chocolate aroma and it was very smooth. I am giving it 4 stars because I think it could be a bit stronger/bolder in flavor (or maybe my water to coffee grounds ratio is off???).
This is a great coffee. I like the aroma and the body (strong and full) and the dark chocolate. Not a big gap between 4 and 5 stars here, maybe could use a bigger hit of flavor.
Generally good. Slightly more earthly than I typically like.
Prefer more distinctive single bean. Solid B.
My favorite by far. Had a couple dozen dark roast coffees from Mistobox and this is the only one I have ordered more than once.
Might be too dark for me, was a little too smoky as well. Don't think I will order this again.
Full bodied dark sweet - enjoyed much
I had my espresso machine set to brew strong and this still felt weak. It did not at all feel full-bodied. It felt very thin and drinkable like coffee. I like espresso to be so strong that I have to sip it slowly. The flavor is fine, but not full-bodied enough.
Love it! Perfect darkness and body with caramel tones. Loved this iced and hot.
Fantastic! Great full body, not burnt.
Decent coffee. A bit lighter bodied than I usually drink. A touch less smokiness would be ideal. Overall I'm enjoying it though.
smooth and delicious. love the smokiness. tried it both through a drip filter and as an espresso and both were equally amazing!!
Super good! Really enjoyed the bold flavor and full body of this coffee. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the smoke flavor but I didn’t think is was over powering at all. Very good coffee.
Delicious caramel notes but a bit too smoky.
My palette isn't refined enough for a nuanced review, but I think the coffee is bold and flavorful and I like the body and darkness. Great stuff
This is a good dark blend. I enjoyed the notes of chocolate.
Liked it but darker and smokier than preferred
Good... it was a little dark for us, but very smooth with a good aftertaste.
Smelled like chocolate! Very smooth with great crema
Excellent in a drip coffee brewer.
I enjoyed this coffee. This roast is probably on the end of the dark roast spectrum that I would enjoy. If possible I would like something a little lighter for my next selection.
I already knew I didn't like dark roasts. This proved that hadn't changed.
Very smooth and delicious!
I liked how smooth and dark it was, I am not a fan of smoky flavors though.
Home Run first time up to bat! Dark, smooth and chocolate. Ground it on the edge of espresso and still no bitterness. This one will be a repeat.
I have historically not been a huge fan of "smoky" coffees. But I did very much enjoy it as part of this blend, perhaps because it was well-balanced by the sweet notes.
While (based on my experience with this roast) I would enjoy having the occasional coffee with heavy smoky notes, I still prefer to not have it be a mainstay feature in my coffees going forward.
Delicious! I used an AeroPress because I was too excited to wait for other methods! First cup was user-error. I made it to strong for my taste. But second cup was wonderful! Not bitter and so full of flavor. I usually put a little cream in my coffee but this was so delicious, I was able to drink it black! I also love that it is so versatile and that I can use different methods for brewing.
Too bitter and strong. Subsequently changed preferences to medium roast.
Delicious, dark coffee.
Good for a dark bean
Didn't taste it. This went to the wife. She claimed it was delicious.
Smoky flavor overpowers the coffee. Just ok. Not ideal for use with a Chemex
Nice fresh, smooth taste. Wife and I both enjoyed it.
We liked how smooth and buttery this coffee was! Very rich and tasty.
Great favor, would like more coffees similar to this.
I enjoyed it for a one off bag but it was a little bit too "dry" for my liking. Left me parched for water after my morning cup of coffee. I would maybe like to try a medium roast with caramel hints this next month.
Very dark roast with STRONG smoke and charcoal flavor. However, to me it just seems like a burnt cup of coffee. Much too overpowering for my tastes. Slightly more tolerable in an espresso. Might work for some, but not me.
Was really disappointed, coffee was burnt and smelt off. Taste was not what I was expecting and was like someone relabeled Starbucks Coffee. Had to take all the beans out of my espresso maker and replace with something already had on hand. Now it’s just going to sit on my shelf until I can figure out what to do with it. Was expecting a much better quality coffee from this. Hopefully the next one will be a higher standard otherwise may try another service.
Good smoky blend. Had a little “skunky” smell. Great taste overall though.
Really nice. A little on the mild side.
This has an outstanding taste generally and a nice after / lingering taste. Full but not bitter. I like!
I liked the Dillanos. To me I see the description "caramel" but I thought it had a little more of a chocolate flavor that I liked. I did think it was too dark because I'd describe it a "toasty" ... and someone else said ash.. and I think after a drink of it the lasting taste was a little burnt. I actually changed my dashboard to say Medium roast. I think Medium and Dark was an error on my part. I think my favorites will be medium ... to medium plus! I also think I'd liek a coffee that is a little sweeter... I realize I can sweeten but I believe some coffees are sweeter even before sugar or a sugar substitute.
A little dark for my preference.
Love it. Delicious.
I like the coffee for the most part. Some of the flavors are a little bland but over all a good choice.
This is the best coffee I’ve ever had. It was smooth. Excellent flavor and full bodied. Not super acidic.
Hi fellow coffee freaks....
Love the "new to me" smokiness coupled with the smooth round caramel. It totally marries so well. You'll love it for your pour-overs.
Just me and my chemex.... kinda old school.
Chalky taste, very oily
I liked it overall, no bitterness or acidity which I like, but a little too dark for my taste.
I am not one for dark roast and this one was right on par. Tasted ashy for some reason. “Meh” is a good descritption for sure.
I really liked it. Strong but not too overpowering. Good balance.
Was a little too smoky but I still liked it!!!
I loved the dark roast. Not too acidic, nor bitter. It was the best dark roast I have had in a very long time.
The initial taste was good, but seemed lacking in flavor throughout, and didn't finish as bold as expected.
Very good. Sweet
This coffee surprised me. Based on the name and the notes I was expecting this to pack quite a bit of a punch... But it didn't, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. This coffee was really smooth and with a nice rich flavor and aroma without being bitter or overpowering. Overall I enjoyed this blend as a good example of what a "lighter" dark roast can be.
Very Nice. Smooth but strong.
I liked it. I have to say though, that although I cannot identify it, there is a little something in there I did not like. Kind of a little skunky sort of thing that only appeared briefly and not always. I'm not an expert so I don't know how to say it anymore eloquently or descriptively than that. I'm sure that doesn't help much! :-( But, I can add, I like Peet's Major Dickason's Blend, but it has somewhat of the same issue for me. That same intermittent, briefly occurring note. It's for that reason that that Peet's is not my favorite. Looking forward to more choices.
Lighter than I expected. Wish it had a little more umphhhhh.
This coffee arrived extremely oily (not always bad, but seemed odd). It was also much more bitter than I like. I didn't even finish the bag because it was so bad to me.
The aroma from opening the bag was wonderful, and the brew from my french press was perfect and full of flavor.
I did not like this coffee. It had very little flavor.
This dark roast has a delicious full-bodied flavor. I used it in my pour over and it provided a great sip.
Deep, rich, delicious. Very dark, looks like potting soil when ground.
Smelled awful, tasted pretty good. A strong full bodied coffee. Could have done with a little less smoky. But overall this is what I was looking for out of a strong, intense coffee.
Nice and strong without being bitter. Good with an electric percolator. Not quite as full bodied and rich for five stars. Very good everyday coffee.
nice, rich, enjoyed
Really liked the strong flavor. I would like to explore some different styles.
I think a little too dark and smoky for my taste, but otherwise I like it.
There wasn't much of an overwhelmingly good aroma but it didn't matter because it brewed perfectly. The taste was great, and the aroma from the cup was too.
Loved it-favorite coffee of all time
Tastes a bit like wood.
Very well roasted, made a nice, smooth cold brew.
Laura & Steve
I thought it was delicious! We've been enjoying it daily.
It's very flavored. It's a little bitter to me.
Amazing flavor! Bold and rich.
Robust with a big initial flavor. Yet very well balanced with an easy finish.
Very smooth blend with good taste. No indication of harshness or bitter taste. A great change from what I have been drinking.
Excellent coffee. Some of the best I have ever had. Full coffee taste but not bitter and no aftertaste. I have served it to others and they say the same things. This is similar to "low acid" coffees that I have tried. I definitely want more coffees like this.
I'm going to update my rating as I feel I was a tab early in my assessment.
Not a huge fan of this coffee tbh. I find it a little lacking in "oomph" if I would have to put it into words. The flavor is okay but I would prefer something a little more "bold" in the mouth feel/flavor dept.
I enjoyed this coffee. Had a good, deep, full-bodied taste. First brew I made was too weak, as I didn't use a scale to measure. Used a tablespoon instead. Second brew was much better, though I will probably increase the amount of beans just a little. I am partial to a strong, but not bitter, brew.
This coffee was right up my alley!! Loved the body and smokyness of this coffee. Perfect!
Mom and Dad
Loved it... excellent choice for us!!
Was a bit bitter! Will drink but not again!
a little to dark for my taste but not bad.
First cup was very smooth and definitely full-bodied. Liked it better than the first bag I received. The aroma was very nice and it had a really nice balance to the overall flavor.
Colin & Kelliann
the worst cup of coffee i have tasted in a long time
While I liked this selection very much, I think I'd like to try something a little milder.
Its good. I like to try different stuff that’s why I signed up. so switch it up on me. It’s all being used to pull shots.
Too smokey for me generally, but I like this style as a change of pace. It's a good one to keep around for a stronger brew for a one-off cup of aeropress.
Great coffee. Very balanced when I brewed with French Press, the smokiness was very strong when I brewed in my pour over machine.
loved the coffee, i prefer a dark roast and this one hit the spot. the flavor profile was phenomenal
A little bland
I like the roast, but the aftertaste is a little too bitter/burnt for me.
Very good. We enjoyed it. It wasn't too dark but not too weak.
Loved this coffee.
Definitely the kind of coffee I enjoy. Dark and Smokey.
A little on the dark side, maybe a little too smoky. Next time a slightly lighter roast might be in order.
For a dark blend coffee, this was very good. Dark blend is not my “go to” when I want coffee. It is great on the occasions I really want it. For coffee in general I would not have rated 4 stars, but for dark roast it is worth it.
Delicious. Totally my style!
Good, but a bit too dark for me. Something on the lighter side next time would be great! Thank you!
I am really needing to grind coarser than I'm used to for the Aeropress to get the bitterness down. It is obvious good quality but reminds me of an Ethiopian, which I struggle with. I can't wait for the next coffee
I really enjoyed these beans! I used a French Press with these beans but I also used a refillable filter from the Keurig when I didn’t have time for the French Press. I enjoyed the full flavor and the low acidity. I’m no expert on flavor analysis but I really like these beans.
A little too dark I think.
Nice enough, but it's a bit too strong for me. The smoky quality comes across well, though it's not something I really like for my coffee.
Wonderful coffee! Strong, bold and fresh. I must confess that I was attempted to request more and override Misto but resisted in doing so as to be exposed to more roasters.
A little sharp on the palate at first sip but overall quite delicious. It is similar to our go-to Peet's coffee, but at the same time just different enough to make it a new experience.
Good choice, Connor!
Coffee was a little bit too dark for me to drink without sugar and milk. Once I added a little of both I did enjoy it. Nice after taste. Would like to try something a little lighter that would require little to no sweetener fro my tastes. Thanks!
Good darkness of roast. Strong roasted flavor but not burnt. Sweet and caramel, vanilla, smooth for how dark it is.
What was your first impression?
Very dark, very bold, very flavorful. Smelled fantastic and had a great flavor.
Did you like the roast (level of bean darkness)?
I liked the roast level, I usually get dark beans. I’m not sure if I should go for something lighter in the medium range since I never venture there.
What flavors did you like or dislike (chocolatey, fruity, citrus, earthy)?
I’m terrible at picking out flavors but I could pick up on the caramel and smokiness which I really liked.
Did the coffee have characteristics you liked (balanced, nuanced, smooth, bold) or didn’t like (sour, burnt, roasty)?
The roasted flavor was great, enjoyed the bold flavor. A little bitter black but overall a very good flavor and smell.
No different than grocer beans
Loved the depth of flavor and nutty flavors. End wasn't acidic at all. Really, really good.
The coffee taste is great and smooth it is a little stronger than we are used to but we are enjoying it. We prefer a little lighter of a roast. Great packaging. I want to research the brand.
Too dark and strong for my taste. I generally prefer more of a medium...to light coffee. I don't often like the sour, burnt, or roasty flavors.
Too dark for my taste
Very smooth coffee. I'm not a big fan of dark coffee but I was pleased with this one.
Very smooth and low acidity. Went well with coconut creamer
I don't like Dark roasts which I indicated in my profile so I was surprised that the first one I got was a special dark blend. This was far too dark for me.
Makes a great cup of coffee!
Liked it a lot, nice, interesting, strong flavor. Always a bit too bitter made in the Aeropress no matter what I did though. Was better in the coffee maker.
Very good bold coffee. Extremely bitter and full bodied. Almost a burnt taste
Best coffee I've ever consumed. If it was acceptable, I would eat the beans whole! Thank you for the great selection.
I enjoyed this coffee, my husband did too I found it to have a chocolately smoky rich smell and it was a lot smoother than i expected. I usually add milk to my coffee and it worked great!
very nice, smooth mellow dark
The coffee is extremely flavorful and rich which I love, but I think a little too dark for my taste. Perhaps it's the smoky notes, but the coffee tastes a little burnt and I am now trying to brew on a lower temperature. Not enjoying as a black cup of coffee, but not bad as a latte.
This one good. My husband liked it more than I did, but that's cause he likes darker blends more. Still very enjoyable!
Very nice. With my pump espresso maker, the taste starts out light and ends with a fuller body, so this is a good description. I suppose I like the fuller bodied coffees. I detected only a bit of smoke. Overall a solid coffee. Didn't blow me away, but I liked it a lot. Nice start, Mistobox.
Love the smokey flavor. Very smooth.
This came off as super oily and odd. It was better for French press than espresso, and made a decent cold brew. I can’t believe that I’m saying this but it was too dark a roast for me
Like you woke up in an enchanted forest, the forest is foggy and the trees dense but you enjoy as you walk about. You can taste the earth, the forest dirt, the smoky humidity with just the right amount of leather and a hint of sweetness on the tongue. Hope you took a thermos.
I thought this was a lovely blend. It was very smooth, but I would loved it to be a little less smoky and more creamy. I loved the darkness of the bean and how lovely it smelled grinding. I prefer more of a chocolate flavor and fewer smoky notes.
28 g medium grind
5+ dark roast good to alternate with 4+ roasts
Roast level was fine, it was somewhat flavorful, but not as complex as I'm used to.
Pete & Eydie
It was too, too dark for my taste. I recognized that the oily beans are a sign of good roasting however just too "burnt" tasting for my taste.
Everything I want in a coffee. Drank it blank
I enjoyed the coffee, but it was a bit too smoky to be enjoyed. For me, a little much, the caramel was light.
I don't know much about coffees (atleast so far as jargon goes), but really enjoyed this coffee. Was the first I received from MistoBox. Very pleasant - both as a morning cup or casually.
This coffee is really good. I really don't know much about flavor profiling on coffee's but this one tastes really robust & acidic. Keep it coming!!
We enjoyed this! But are interested in trying some more complex flavors too!
Very good dark roast
The smokiness of this one was great!
I like the caramel and full body flavor but the smoky tones I find bitter
Very dark roast (which is also considerably oily), with intense notes of smoke. Comparably lighter body than I would have expected. Well balanced and smooth, but also a tiny bit forgettable.
For a dark roast blend, it's good. However, I am not much of a fan for extra dark roasts as they do not have much flavor. It reminds me a bit of Starbucks coffee, too burnt. This is why I definitely prefer single origin coffees as they usually have multiple flavors hitting the palate.
This coffee WANTS to be very good. The beans are dark and glossy and sexy and smell absolutely decadent. Unfortunately, the enjoyability factor is...meh. The first taste makes promises of a dark, full, sinful experience, but then it just never happens. It falls flat. In fact, I pulled out the emergency Maxwell House the morning after I received and tried this Special Dark. .
Darker than I usually drink, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it had better depth of flavor, yet still managed to be smooth (not too acidic).
Smoky but not bitter. Rich full bodied, could be a tad darker or heavier but very clean finish.
Really big flavor, nice smoky hints, very smooth.
Very good for a dark roast. Intense flavor. Would give 5 star but I prefer a little lighter roast.
Like the flavor but slightly dark for my taste.
Very tasty coffee. Using in a Chemex was a bit strong.
Not bad. Not a huge fan of the dark roast. Not as much flavor
Bold but nicely balanced with good flavor.
I love this type of roast. Smooth and bold.
Thought this was a very good bean for capps and lattes. Was good on its own, but not a standout. I think this is a great mixer bean and pulls nicely and more importantly, consistently!
Too dark for me
delicious. I love the deep bitterness and smoky aftertaste. I don't think this coffee works for everyone but it goes well with my tastebuds. Next time i hope to get something similar but a little different, .
Nice flavor, not too bold. The chocolate and caramel undertones are just right. Really like this coffee.
Surprised to see this described as dark-roasted and full-bodied, as it seemed relatively light and flat to me.
Smooth flavor, true to description. Nice, full bodied blend. A nice change from my usual, berry-forward coffee. The buttery, bread notes were super interesting.
This was a wonderfully smooth and full-bodied blend. I loved the caramel flavor. It wasn't sour or acidic at all, which was very enjoyable.
I like this coffee, but I could do with a little less of the deep, smoky, dark roast flavors.
It's a pretty dark roast, similar to death wish coffee although not as dark. I guess because it's a dark roast, it's also doesn't have such a strong caffeine content. Personal choice obviously since I'm not a dark roast fan, I've given it three stars.
This makes for a bold espresso. It is bitter and very smoky, but, still smooth. I typically pour espresso over ice and this dark roast blend is great to sip on. The washed beans are very shiny. I had not seen that before this bag.
This was very good although I thought it was a little too dark at first I found myself going through this bag in no time. I usually pour over with the occasional french press. This coffee I found wonderful as a pour over.
I do like this coffee, however I really prefer MEDIUM Roast! This coffee blend would be perfect and 5 stars if it was a medium roast!!
This was a very good coffee that was dark but not overpowering. The flavor was enjoyable without packing too big of a punch. I liked the flavor, roast, and felt it was very smooth. I would say it got strong and difficult to do more than a couple cups.
Really dug this blend! Super smooth and a great way to kick off each morning.
Very dark, smoky - I might even say burnt. Really good with a little milk in a cappuccino. Too oily for the machine though.
Smooth but not as bold as we prefer
good coffee. A little one dimensional, but still desirable.
I used three heaping tablespoons in French press. And let it sit for 6 minutes. Coffee was in fact dark and yummy. I would even like it stronger. The coffee was on the milder side of dark. It was smooth with no bite.
A solid dark blend however one dimensional for me. I like some more complexity to my coffee. Intense smoke on the nose, again, like complexity here as well, both on nose and palate.
Brewed as pour over:
Nice oily beans. Rich flavor. Very smooth, almost chocolate aroma. The flavor was not as moody as I expected definitely brighter than the aroma conveys. Still an earthy coffee.
(Doing my best to be descriptive)
Great quality coffee but not one of my favorite blends. Not big into the chocolate/caramel flavored coffees.
Excellent results from our first sample - very pleased with taste from beginning to end......sometimes with reheating later in the day.
Could definitely taste the caramel. Caramel is ok, but not one of my favorite flavors. Expected it to be more robust and full bodied. Slight bitter taste at the end, the smoky aftertaste. Smoky taste could appeal to some. So-so cup of coffee.
A tad too bitter for my taste, I think I may have to stick with a medium roast. or something in between a medium and dark roast.
Very pleasing and smooth coffee for dark roast. No bitterness at all. The more we had, the more enjoyable it became.
A delicious cup, flavor as described above. I use a French Press.
I don't like dark roast coffees. When doing the initial assessment I said I like light roast so I was surprised when I was sent a super dark roast.
Perhaps it's the old Seattle native in me, but in my opinion this is how coffee was meant to be. With so much emphasis on "clarity" and "brightness" etc in today's coffee world, an old coffee drinker like myself can't help but observe a lot of modern coffees have far more in common with the Hills Brothers and Folgers of years gone by than anyone would ever want to admit. This one, however, is an unapologetic, deep, delicious and satisfying cup. I'd give it a 6th star if I could!
Great full flavor without being overpowering
Good coffee overall. Definitely a strong, intense smoky taste. However, I somewhat found the flavor overshadowed by bitterness.
Love this one!
I will preface this review with the complete understanding that I no longer prefer dark roasted coffees. I thought I'd open myself up to something beyond my usually light and medium preferences but now I know dark is not for me. That said - this was not very good coffee. It was not horrible by any means but it was a very sub-standard grade tasting diner type coffee. Maybe even a bit 'Starbucks'-like in that Starbucks (to my tongue and brains perception) seems to roast their coffees a bit darker than I'm used to. I'll certainly finish the bag but this coffee is a 'no' for me. I'm sad to say I don't find the value in this bag. At 19$ with shipping I'm rather displeased. I understand I'm investing in the experience and excitement of a curated coffee subscription but this was not worth the money. Lesson learned: I will update my preferences accordingly. (note: I did try this with an aeropress, v60, french press, automatic drip and used either filtered or Third Wave water... :/ )
Blend was excellent for pourover. I was not able to generate much pressure for expresso, but I believe that was because my home burr grinder probably cannot grind fine enough for proper espresso.
I prefer a medium or light roast, like a Starbucks Veranda blend or a Caribou Coffee breakfast blend
Weak not full flavor.
Full-bodied and rich. I enjoyed this a lot. I only prepared it over ice, but it was enjoyable both black and with a shot of sweet cream.
smells like cat food
Awesome coffee...one of the best ever...delicious, rich, full bodied flavor. Even my drip coffee maker couldn't mess this up!! I may have to change my subscription to get this exclusively...it's THAT good.
versatile, classic, very enjoyable!
I think it's good enough but I didn't blow my mind. I can taste the smoky notes but couldn't detect the caramel ones.
Also, should say that I just got my grinder and I'm still trying to find the perfect grind size for me. Last time I tried the fine grind and my coffee tasted way better that the first one I got with a medium grind.
good in French press, but don't prefer the sharp finish. still pleased over all with this one. seems to be going in the right direction for my taste.
When I first opened the bag, the amazing smell of the coffee hit me so hard I couldn't wait to try it. It smelled like the perfect cup of coffee: rich, deep flavored, well roasted, not burnt. But when I prepared it, it tasted burnt and grainy. I tried several different ways to "trick" the coffee: larger grinds, smaller grinds, a pinch of Maldon salt, sea salt or no salt. All done in my French press. But nothing lessened the burnt flavor of the coffee. I'm disappointed bc even now when I grind it, tgecstonas ate breathtaking. Too bad the coffee doesn't live you to it.
We didn't like the dark-ish roast. We prefer the lighter and medium roasts with a variety of flavours.
Good dark roast coffee with hints of caramel.
Made in our aero press, very smooth. Plan to try in cemix next.
Love this coffee. The smoky undertones and the rich flavor make this one our favorite so far!!!
Great, dark espresso blend! We love it. Everything from the taste to the morning jolt it packs. Great blend!
Very good blend. Balanced and smoky. A good go-to blend for daily enjoyment.
I don't think that it was my favorite, but it is still good! I believe I am possibly leaning more of a medium/dark roast. Where the beans don't have much oils on the outside of the bean. The flavor notes that I gained from the coffee when I cupped it was a sense of "tobacco" and "smoked" flavors. I am not sure this is my favorite, but it was not a bad cup of coffee. I think it would be fantastic as espresso, I have only done Chemex and French Press with it so far. By far pretty decent, but maybe the next bag can be on a medium roast side, what do you think?
Slight bitter aftertaste
Love the flavor!
The rich smokey aroma of this coffee matches it's smooth, very slightly caramel notes in taste. One of the best espresso roasts yet.
Yep, this is a keeper.
Very oily dark roast.
This one is just OK, The beans are a little bit oily and stick in my machine.
Too acidic for my preferences. Good, rich cup, just a bit too acidic for my preference.
Very nutty and smokey; reminded me of a charred steak. Good black but even better with a touch of heavy cream.
Chocolate tones, full flavor, nice and dark, worked well as espresso.
Tried this only as an espresso, very full bodied. Found it slightly bitter for my taste.
Great morning cup... not too strong but just enough kick for someone who loves deep and smoky flavors. Depending on your brewer or if you used a french press this can go extra bold. I enjoyed it best with my standard drip.
I have enjoyed the rich flavors of this blend in espresso style drinks!
Love this coffee. Very good and fresh!
Coffee actually seemed a bit bland and didn't have too much of a smell to it. The crema is not as good as other blends I've brewed. Was good and fresh, but would prefer something a bit more fragrant and vibrant/bold. Enjoy the earthy ones!
A little Smokey overall, but very good
I really liked how aromatic the coffee was when I opened the bag. That's how coffee is supposed to smell. I brewed three times. The first brew I mixed the coffee with milk. I couldn't get a good taste with just milk. The second time I didn't add milk nor sugar and I liked that it didn't need any sugar when drinking it straight black. The third time I made a latte and that was the best taste I could get. I really liked it. I couldn't taste the smoky flavor. I did taste earthy notes. I could also taste some nutty notes. Now, I wonder how this coffee would taste as espresso.
Love the flavors. This is my ideal espresso flavor.
Really liked the boldness. I did not think it was Smoky, but that's good because we hate smoky! Only reason it got 4 stars was I think it lacked a little in flavor - in the respect that it was simply "coffee" flavored. I was not able to pull out any of the unique characteristics indicated by the description. As a whole, this was a win!
Smooth and full bodied espresso. Not bitter at all - really enjoying it
Smooth and very easy to drink - love it!
like the smokiness, didn't get a lot of depth, and not a lot of caramel.
Highly caffeinated. Flavor was good, I liked the smokiness. But I thought it was a little lighter than I would have liked for espresso.
Smooth, non-acidic. Excellent flavor with full-bodied mouth-feel. Beautiful, evenly colored beans with just a hint of oil. Love it. 5 stars!
This coffee is the perfect blend of dark and sweet
Enjoyed the smokiness, bit too sweet for me. Not quite as bold as I prefer.
Nice dark roast, good body maybe not as much depth in the flavor profile as some
So. so Sssssoooooooo goooood
My favorite so far
Dillanos is the best flavor I've received from Mistobox. The flavor is full and just right.
this is the perfect espresso!
Please dont send this thanks
Not an espresso coffee and no roasted date. Splintered when ground fine. Not remotely what I asked for
So we overestimated or love for strong, old, smoky coffee - while this one was definitely nice, I think we would like to come down a notch and try something smoother for the next delivery. Not quite sure how to describe the taste...it s juts both me and my husband agree that this one is too strong for us. I don't add any sugar to my coffee, only almond milk, so definitely would like something less smokey. My husband drinks his with various creamers, but even then he still wants slightly less strong taste. Thank you!
While this is a nice coffee, I think I prefer something more bold with a smooth finish.
This was fine, but I tasted mostly the smokiness. I like a coffee that has more nuttiness to it.
My wife and I have been using this coffee as espresso and it's been great! Works well for milk-based drinks which is primarily what we drink.
Slightly burnt taste.
Not bold enough, not dark enough... weak.
It was good, nice flavor and wasn't too brutal for it being a dark roast. I didn't get an overwhelming smoky flavor like i was expecting, but i also didn't get a lot of caramel like i was hoping. I'd get this again for sure.
Nice, rich, smooth coffee.
Tiffany & Dave
Smokey with a hint of chocolate. Yet lacked sweetness and did not catch the caramel notes as advertised.
Sara & Chris
This is right between good and great... maybe a 4.25 star coffee. It's dark, but has a really smooth and round mouthfeel. Almost as if the edges had been sanded off. It makes for a really enjoyable and unique cup. I'd prefer a little extra kick of bitterness, but otherwise this is a great bean.
Seth & Marji
We loved this coffee!
Not a huge fan of dark coffee, but it is good.
Good choice an excellent cup of coffee. You can taste the nutty caramel flavor not overpowering. I ground the beans and brewed the coffee in my breville expresso machine and it had la crema on top. Very good we're enjoying it
Truly enjoyed the sweet-smokey flavor - delicious!
Produced some of the best espressos I've ever brewed. Just superb.
Great winter dark roast, smells phenomenal may be too much for a Spring espresso.
I really like this one!
Really enjoy this dark blend. Pretty fresh bean with smooth and nutty flavour. It would be more perfect if the caramel tastes stronger.
Rich, smooth and bold. Loved it.
I enjoy it a lot, the aroma is impressive.
This Coffee was a real treat. I definataly got the Carmel and nut undertones
inputting the number of stars on the review, it didn't carry over from the other account.
This was a really nice roast.....rich and bold.....just a bit too much of the espresso flavor.....but only a little bit too much. Very much enjoyed it
I LOVED these beans - rich and flavorful!
I liked the coffee. It was almost too dark or rich for my home brew espresso maker.
Fabulous taste with all the flavors and no bite, very smooth coffee. I can already tell this will become a favorite of mine. Superb blend~
I can only compare this with Starbucks Sumatra, as that's what I feel it comes close to. The Dillano's was much fresher than anything I've ever had, and it had a very clean taste. It wasn't very bitter, which I liked, but it also didn't have any particular taste that came out and spoke to me. I did notice a lot of body, but I was left wanting something to build on that foundation. Don't get me wrong, it was probably the best coffee I've had to date, but I attribute that mostly to the freshness. I did like the clean, full body, but I was hoping for something to come out and say Hi. I didn't get much nut or caramel from it at all. Just so you know, this was prepared using an espresso machine. Next week I'll try some in a pour over.
Too smoky for me. Could not taste any caramel.
Really great. Chocolate notes. Nice crema. Consistent shots. Maybe not quite such a dark roast, I think maybe if I were to do this blend again.
This blend starts as rich but leaves the tongue as harsh or perhaps even bitter, Would prefer to try the main stream mass market espresso.
Good, not memorable.
Smooth, full-bodied, low acidity
I really enjoyed this coffee. I like the full bodied flavor. I prefer darker blends like this.
WE really enjoyed the deep richness of Dillano's coffee roaster's coffee. It was very dark and rick.
Great aroma, hint of caramel made it almost impossible to have one cup.
Great flavor and smooth!
AMAZING! THE BEST COFFEE EVER!!!
This has an excellent flavor, full body and a good after-taste.
Brian and Barbara
(4.5 stars) Brewed through an espresso / cappuccino professional quality machine... Was good, not bitter at all. Could have been just a tweak darker roasted and a tad more oil. But was good and will enjoy for sure...
Aroma-Excellent; Crema-mid range, prefer more; taste somewhat dilute, would prefer more body and "forte"
Cara and Alex
I couldnt get this blend dialed in, it always tasted burnt.
Very bitter and very oily. I suppose my preference is actually a lighter roast.
Great flavor and definitely full bodied. Most appreciated the freshness and that it was a true dark roast. Another excellent coffee from a quality Washington State Roaster.
Coffee color seemed lighter than what we are normally used to but flavor was very smooth. No bitterness at all. Smooth finish.
First impressions. I need more time to uncover it's depth, but I am sure this blend will be moving it's way into my life more often. I might try a nickname on it... like Dill. Like, "what a great morning it will be, when I got my Dill coffee."
A little too bitter, but mostly lacking in flavor of any kind.
At first I rated this better but it's really just bad. Almost identical to Starbucks burnt dark roasts. Smells like ashtray. Contemplating just throwing it in the trash can
Much too oily to put in my superautomatic coffee maker.
Probably one of the better cups of coffee I had. Best applications were made through my french press and my stove top espresso maker. My drip maker and my keurig didn't do it any justice. Definitely my after dinner guilty pleasure.
Good roast consistancy, but not much on flavor. Brewed with Bonaveta autodrip, aeropress and espresso.
Very shiny, dark beans
French press - exceptionally vigorous bloom and smoky aroma
Low acidity with medium/heavy mouthfeel
Sweet caramel fades into dark chocolate
Rich cup with spicy undertones
Expect to wash your mug afterward
I really love this coffee!
Next shipments should be for espresso beans. Not sure that a review of this blend is relevant. Was very good.
This Special Dark blend is eminently drinkable. I found it to have a very round flavor which brings to mind coffee cake and cinnamon with hints of warm bourbon, too. It has just a hint of autumn campfire and peat. I thought it was quite balanced and a blend that I think will become a staple of my morning cup.
Not a very dynamic coffee. Some bitter notes on the front and then falls flat.
Kathy and Paul
Very good - full bodied.
Too smoky, ashy
Brenda & Keith
Very rich flavor. Full bodied. Enjoyed this coffee.
I didn't like the smoke. It tasted somewhat burned, and bitter as a result. Too close to the Starbucks roast.
Great for espresso!
Liked the flavor and the taste very much. Well done Seth!
Mary and Eric
Good, but nothing spectacular. It's a good dark roast, but just not a lot of flavor.
I enjoyed this dark roast
The best coffee beans I have had so far :) Very dark roast, with distinct caramel & smokiness. Love it.
This is a good coffee, but I prefer dark, smooth coffees without the smoky flavors.
Beans arrived quite fresh. Prepared as espresso. Very sweet crema. Body is pleasantly oily with a hint of earthiness, not very bold, sometimes smoky but never ashy. Just enough bitter for balance.
This blend is not striking but it is tolerant of variations in grind and compaction, so never unruly or unpleasant. A "mild-mannered" dark roast.
It's a good coffee, but definitely not full bodied. I actually had to drink 2 cups to be satisfied, as I normally only drink one cup. It's a bit too light for me.
Jennifer and Ben
Delicious, dark but not too smokey
Tastes bad, too bold
Does not stand out
Can the next 5 be any better than this!
Really really good!
loved the smooth flavor, not acidic or bitey. i felt like there were chocolately tones. had to play with grind to get it to extract stronger for expresso with milk drinks, but still very enjoyable. my go to theme is "would i get it again?". for this one - yes, but probably after trying some others.
Very nice blend! Flavorful, but not overpowering. No strong after taste like my previous coffee. Looking for to tomorrow morning's espresso!
I am not an educated taster but I can say that this is one of the best coffees that I have had. It is smooth on the palette with no bitterness or acidic after taste. It is full flavored and if I were to try to identify some elements of the flavor I would say it has nice smoky undertones and as listed above a hint of caramel flavor.
Bland. Lacks body and flavor. And, where's the buzz? Seemed like some sort of Starbuck's blond decaf.
What I like about this coffee is how smooth it tastes, no bitterness. I am very satisfied with it.
We normally use Italian dark roast bean. What you send was"just another cup of coffee"
Also please suspend our subscription for the month of February
Not as strong as I usually drink. Good flavor but a little bitter.
I dig on the sweetness of the cup. It's slightly too dark for my taste, but I'm still fond of the roast, in general.
No bitterness! Very smooth rich flavor.
Dark and sinfully good. One of the best smells in any bag I have opened. Almost amazing that such a dark coffee can still have great distinguishable notes and individual flavors. Highly pleased and look forward to trying others.
Pahlisch Homes inc.
Good flavor, didn't seem super fresh.
Personally, I'm not a fan of this particular roast. The smokiness adds a little more bitterness than what I generally like. The bitter aftertaste is not a favorite of mine.
Tasty but a bit on the sweeter side and did not feel as cafeinated ~ perhaps a trick of the mind
Sorta ok, not quite deep enough
I received this coffee after not particularly caring for the first box sent. The customer service and quick fix with this coffee was excellent. Mistobox sent me a free replacement bag and did not disappoint. Really good full bodied rich taste. Definitely recommend this one for dark roast lovers.
Audra & Eric
We enjoy this coffee blend. It had no bitterness to it and had good flavor. We would really like to try something that is dark with maybe hints of chocolate or mocha with some smoky flavor but with no bitter bite.
Very good tasting espresso!
Heavy, chewy, exactly how I like my coffee in the morning. Would absolutely make this my daily drinker.
full bodied, tends towards bitterness with pour-over and especially French press methods - I liked it better in a latte than as regular coffee
Super rich and oily beans. Makes a good cup using aeropress. Dark and full bodied but nothing to write home about.
I really like the caramel flavor that comes out in the coffee.
It smells really good, taste isn't there.
Very balanced, well rounded and almost simple. Agree with the sweet notes, but it seemed to mute any other flavors and I did not pick up on much nutty. Not a complaint as that is how I prefer my espresso traditionally; full, balanced and traditional.
Wasn't strong enough for espresso, It took a while to figure out how to make my normally perfect latte for my wife. I have Gaggia MDF grinder and a well matched Gaggia Classic Espresso machine, so not a target low-level machine or Barista issue....
Didn't notice any above average flavors to speak of. Reminded me of my first bags of espresso beans from Publix, or Starbucks. Add enough sugar, and you're ok.
The creama wasn't creamy, maybe related to how the beans seemed old, or not fresh from the first opening of the bag. If I was a mistobox first timer, I'd probably cancel my subscription, and use these beans for drip coffee.
I'm thinking I received a mislabeled or old bag of beans, as Dillanos isn't Dunkin Donuts.
ground to a medium grind size with a burr grinder, and used a keurig. Fantastic full coffee that is smooth all the way through.
I would not describe this as having a caramel flavor - thank goodness. Very nice rich dark flavor - Smooth. Produced a very nice crema. Reminded me of being in Italy :)
I loved this coffee soooooo much!! It's excellent in my Chemex!!
Excellent coffee. The ashy / smokey quality grew on me, but I think I prefer a little less dark roast. I'm not sure if that smokeyness is a characteristic of dark roasts or this blend in particular.
Tasted as an espresso, it was excellent. Very smooth. I would buy this just for espresso shots. However, it seemed to get lost in the latte. The boldness did not stand out and seemed like we were drinking flavored milk vs a good latte.
Has a really nice nutty flavor.
Fantastic. Well rounded strong and sweet espresso flavor without getting too dark or bitter.
Excellent! Dark, rich and tasty.
This has a very nice flavor. A good rich cup, nothing super fancy.
Enjoyed the caramel flavor, didn't really pick up on the smokiness of the roast though.
I have to say this coffee was amazing. Loved the dark earthiness and roast of it. I didn't give it 5 stars because I found it a little too bitter but very close to a perfect cup o joe. I usually use the pour over method and I found this to work perfectly for it. When I used it as an espresso it was highly acidic. Thank you for curating this great coffee for me.
This coffee was my wife and my first experience with Mistobox and are now hooked. It's delicious and is going to make getting something different in the mail difficult.
this coffee has been excellent...the taste is rich and unique..not acidic.....as much as I like it, I find I don't finish the cup...maybe that is a clue for you!
Love this coffee! Lots of flavor without bitterness.
I am enjoying how strong this coffee is but find it a little bit sharp and just slightly too oily. I do love the full bodied nature and deep flavor.
Not as rich as I like in dark blendsNot as complex as I like in medium roast
I still like it. Even the second time. Send me something new
This blend was a little to far on the bitter side for my tastes. I only had as straight espresso, but would likely shine with a milk based drink
This blend was smooth and not bitter. Not too shabby.
A nice dark roast, not too acidic. I couldn't pick up the smoky flavor but my palate is not all that refined yet :)
Delicious! Beautiful crema! Rich and fulfilling...
I absolutely love this blend, the rich robust flavors compliment each other very well.
The smokiness definitely punches through on this one, although to me it tastes more burned than smokey. It also doesn't have the most pleasant aroma when grinding. Overall, its just ok.
Very dark and smoky. Prominent oils. Did not do well as espresso shot at 16 grams and 26 second extraction. Too strong. Probably better as a pour over.
Overall its good, would be better if it didn't have that burnt flavor on the back end of it, was able to lessen it with grind setting and a shorter pull, not bad but not my favorite.
Very nice coffee, thank you. It'd be great to have it a bit less smokey and a bit more nutty.
Makes the top of our list, tied with Panther.
Nice dark well rounded flavor.
A little harsh for me. I wouldn't mind a little burnt taste if it had more of a full bodied flavor.
Good, but not great. I might check this local roaster out in the future for some of their other coffees.
NIce . . . not as smooth as I like, but makes a good cuppa.
Smokey, earthy with hints of dark chocolate. Perfect wakeup coffee!
I like this Dillanos blend quite a lot. Easy to keep drinking, very flavorful.
Too dark of a roast. Tastes burnt, charred.
Not our favorite. Not as smooth as others
This coffee makes a fantastic cappuccino and/or latte. Rich but not bitter.
We are really enjoying this coffee. The caramel is fairly subtle. The flavor is a little one dimensional, but we like the sweetness that's added to the bold flavor.
Would have thought it would be more robust. Good balance and flavor through out,.
I'm not usually a dark roast guy but this is good. I don't really know all the fancy words to use to describe it but I like it haha
Loved the smokiness of this coffee. It was bold, and perfect without cream or sugar!
Excellent Flavor and Good body.
I don't tend to be a fan of the "Seattle" type coffees. There's a burnt taste to them....I've never been a fan of Starbucks for that reason. Dillano's is probably one of the best I've ever had from the Northwest....it's very smooth and has a sweet undertone that is nice, but it still has that burnt edge to it.
Moderately flavorful. Smooth finish and dark, but not amazing.
I like this one better. Full-bodied coffee with a nice weight in mouth. The taste was flat but very rich and smoky aroma.
UPDATE: I got these beans for the second time and this time they seemed overroasted to me. Every shot that I made from this batch had a flat burnt flavor to it, like robusta coffee beans.
// Espresso Machine: Breville, The Duo-Temp Pro Espresso // Grinder: Gaggia MDF Electric Burr Coffee // Grind Level: 5
Beans arrived dark chocolate in color, medium oily-ness. Brewed in both automatic drip brewer, and in Chemex. Much richer, more pleasant flavor than the previous offering. Slightly smoky, but ultimately still quite mild. Very drinkable.
Outstanding coffee. It tastes like coffee should, maybe a bit strong.
Update: Brewed 2 tablespoons in Aeropress with 3 oz water at 210 and a steep time of 45 seconds. This produced a great espresso that was very smooth and slightly acidic.
Brewed in an Aeropress with water at 175 degrees. 3 different attempts steeped at 60, 45 and 30 seconds. All 3 cups had a very plastic, chemical taste. Maybe a different brew method would have been more palatable.
My favorite so far. I really loved the flavor of this one. Very smooth.
Good quality dark roast. Not quite interesting or complex enough to stand on its own as an espresso, but very good in a cappuccino. Also held its own as a French roast.
rich, smooth, smoky
Enjoyable but unremarkable. A bit one dimensional.
I'm looking for something a bit darker and fuller.
Perfect blend of a dark roast that has a smooth finish with good body.
This is not a bad cup of coffee. But I am still looking for that super dark and oily bean that smells like this side of heaven when you open up the package. The drink itself is decently bold and satisfying, yet still leaves me wanting a little more of a robust cup.
Very delicious! Not too smoky, just right for a dark roast.
Dark, deep flavor, great for a regular cup of coffee or a shot of espresso. Yum.
Although this was good, it is just a bit harsh of a flavor. Glad to have tried !! Thank you :)
Joe and Nannette
Flavor not bold enough. We like dark roast beans. We prefer sweet and nutty flavors over acidic/fruity flavors. Thanks!
This is my first Mistobox and I am very excited this was so good the bold flavors and the aroma. Yum!
I like the flavor of this coffee, but it's really oily, and it's messing with our machine :(
Love how full bodied it is, well balanced and bold it is.
Finally, a true dark roast I enjoy black! Thank you
A nice blend. I would give it five stars if it had a little more character. Nothing really stands out as far as flavor. But, it's a nice blend.
This is my favorite coffee!!
Dark chocolaty, spicy in the back of the throat with file, molasses flavors. Nice.
I usually don't do roasts this dark, so I was surprised I liked it as much as I did. I liked that it seemed to have more body and I liked the caramel notes. The smokiness caught me off guard, but it was actually nice. It wasn't quite as acidic as I usually get and I missed that a little, but overall it was very good.
I enjoyed the smokey caramel notes
Best so far
Beautifully roasted, deep coffee. One of my favorites!
Really this was a 3 1/2. The caramel notes did come out, however it was too heavy on the smoky notes for us to rate it higher.
Too smoky for me.
Love love love this one. The smokiness was perfect.
One hell of a good cup of coffee! Flavor Full! Medium Grind with Chemex Brewer.
This was pretty tasty. My husband and i both enjoyed this one.
Very good. Light body and low acidity. Could use a little more robust and roasted and toasty flavors.
Loved this blend...dark and smooth tasting..no hint of bitter as what you may sometimes find in a dark roast
A much better blend then their entrepreneur - flavourful.
Flavorful. Smooth. nothing striking in the unique flavor department
I like this dark roast coffee but the beans were Very oliy, making it a bad choice for my coffee grinder
A little smokier than I need maybe. Though I do normally like smoke flavors.
I liked the bold flavor. There was not as much overall flavor as I like and am willing to trade some of the boldness for more flavor. I don't want to drop boldness too far. That is still important to me.
