This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Barefoot Coffee Roasters will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
This is the The Beast brought to you by Barefoot Coffee Roasters. Coffees from Brazil and Guatemala were carefully chosen and blended together to create the perfect Direct Trade blend for drip/filter and cold brew/iced coffee methods. Simple and straightforward, this coffee is intended to appeal to a wide audience of coffee lovers. We love this coffee for its notes of bittersweet chocolate and snickerdoodle cookie and rich flavors.
I received this package with the bag torn on the side and most of the beans spilled out. Totally unacceptable!
It’s pretty good. Bright flavor
Good balance, not sour and not too bitter. Great strength
It's a good coffee, but nothing about it blows my mind.
It wasn’t very strong
I struggle to like this coffee. the bittersweet sweet notes seem to more pronounced then I would like at the finish of a taste. It does taste good with dairy as bitterness is tamed
I mean, we drank it. But, wouldn’t do so again. Way too thin and weak in body.
We loved it, very rich and flavorful
Quite nice. Did better in the pour over than in the French press as advertised. Made for some delicious iced coffee, which really brought out the sweeter notes in it.
Overall, definitely enjoyed this, although not my new favorite. Perhaps a bit too dark/rich for me
Way too dark
Good, not great
slightly bitter edge
Smooth, not a trace of bitterness. Dry earthy spice and cocoa notes with the dry cocoa being predominant. I would prefer a richer, more mouth coating "fattier" coffee. This coffee is definitely dry and subtle (I would not describe as "rich"). I made it in a French Press where I soaked the coarse ground beans for 5 minutes. I'll try it making overnight cold brew next. Served with sugar- in- the- raw and cream.
update: made an excellent cold brew.
My husband thought this was the best one yet. I really like it too!
Grind: Burr grinder, coarsest setting; Brewed: French Press.
A great combination of full-bodied roastyness with a pleasant hit of acidity. Like a combination of bittersweet chocolate and butter cookies. The flavor evolves from the first moment of acid, to roasty, to sweet, and lingering to a nice pretzel-like roastiness.
Too burnt and bitter
I don't normally drink dark coffee but I have a soft spot for Barefoot and wanted to experiment. Their Beast did not taste burnt but the beans were unsurprisingly a tad too dark for me. Good, but I would not order again.
Really disappointing. Every Barefoot I have had is sour, this one too. Very overrated.
Only okay. The best part about this coffee was that it tasted largely the same no matter if I took a lot of care in brewing it, or if I just threw it together because I was hungover and running late to work.
Rich and flavorful. Great cup of coffee
Didn’t enjoy the flavors of this blend
J & Amy
Favorite coffee for hot drip
Just not great coffee. I’m not sure how to describe the taste except that it wasn’t good. Couldn’t pick out any distinct notes and tasted bland and cheap.
Nice, rich coffee with good balance. I like the flavors. I pick up mostly a smooth chocolate note, perhaps a cookie/snickerdoodle finish (but only if I concentrate on that thought).
Liked this. Made a really good cold brew.
Really liked this one! Rich with no bitterness and very smooth.
Rich with hints of chocolate. I will be ordering this again!
Not enough flavor, a bit weak.
very good, minimally bitter but rich
Love the bold flavor!
So good. Full round flavor without having to add have the bag of beans.
This one was good but definitely not my favorite so far.
I love this blend, it is smooth, rich and has a nice flavor. I enjoy a few other blends from Barefoot Coffee Roasters and this fits right in with the others, having a nice chocolate flavor.
This was rich and enjoyable. Easy to drink, but full in flavor.
A great morning cup of coffee. Not as flavorful as I like but definitely good for a hectic morning, that enticing smell inviting you to slow it down a bit.
Like the description says, this will appeal to a wide audience simply because it is a very neutral coffee. There is nothing particularly great or poor about this coffee. It does have an excellent bittersweet chocolate taste on the backend.
this made fairly weak coffee... I tried brewing with more than usual amount for pour-over coffee and the result was still noticeably weaker than most of the others. good flavor, but maybe just too subtle for me.
on a separate note, best packaging I'd seen so far - high quality bag, good design, nice details.
This is a nice coffee that goes well with desserts and sweets. Simple and straightforward and has nice hints of chocolate and nut.
Surprised this is called a dark roast. The beans are pale and there is almost no odor. The taste was muted. Disappointed.
I like this coffee a lot better than the last one. Its very well balanced and smooth. I am tasting just a hint of that acerbic taste that I didn't like in the last coffee. I'm not a big fan of snickerdoodle. I'd like to go even richer in my next coffee. Thanks!
Would've given this one 3.5 stars if we could. Liked it, but not quite as much as the Steadfast coffee from the previous week. Overall, was really good and not bitter, just a little darker than ideal.
Seems sort of bland.
Very nice flavor!
Just OK for me. I think it had a little too much of an earthy/dark taste for my pallet.
This one is really bland to me, especially compared to what I've had. The hints of flavor are really subtle. I and definitely preferring something lighter with more flavor.
This selection was just okay. I could not detect the chocolate or snickerdoodle notes and I thought it lacked a punch.
Mildly weaker taste than I prefer but otherwise good.
Love the flavor, even more than the Steadfast. Could be slightly more robust.
it is "simple and straightforward". You can't help but enjoy. :)
i love the smell of chocolate. amazing coffee
Love this coffee.
The Beast was an excellent blend. Whether Chemex or Espresso it came out with great flavor and richness. Enjoyed this roast most of all the ones I've tried to date. Happy New Year.
The coffee had a nice balance, but the flavor was a little flat. Nothing too notable.
Good taste and smooth. Darker than we would normally reach for to be our 'everyday' cup. We always have a bag of dark in our cabinet though and this is a welcome addition!
Best coffee I've ever had
Better. More balanced, but still with an fruity, acid tinge.
Boyfriends favorite so far. Would like to try more from this roaster.
Simple, full bodied
Enjoying the medium body ,chocolate flavor, with no acid after taste.
Delicious, rich and smooth! I look forward to starting my mornings with The Beast!
Surprisingly a bit too dark/bitter for me! I typically drink all my coffee black but needed a little milk to cut this one.
Really underwhelming and slightly sour. Not sure if we got a bad batch or what, but not very "Beast" like for us.
This coffee sadly seemed pretty weak.
best coffee ever sent me, without a doubt, even beats my other 5 stars
Very rich - full flavored with a round lingering finish
This was great too! A little bit lighter than I usually like but the flavors were great, better than the bravissimo blend for my taste
Would like it to be stronger!
On the right track, still think I might prefer a bit darker roast
Good medium bodied taste. Has hints of chocolate that is not overpowering. Really enjoyed this coffee
It's good- but I think I prefer lighter coffees. It's tasty and smooth but just doesn't have the POP of some other months.
better than the last batch (Honduras), but still weak coffee. I don't like burnt tasting coffee (as in dark beans) so hoping the next one hits the mark!
Better than previous delivery but still slightly under roasted for my taste. Something in-between this one and the Special Dark Blend I got the first time would be ideal.
Delicious! Great tasting coffee
This was good. It needed to be off roast for a while for it to come through. It wasn't a very interesting cup of coffee. It mostly tasted like coffee with hints of chocolate.
Was not my favorite - Cant put my finger on it. Maybe too dark?
Easy to drink simple cup of coffee. I wish there were more complex notes to it, though.
This is the bean I've been waiting for. Deeply complex in body and taste, it makes an excellent espresso. There's a nicely balanced caramel-chocolate-spice thing going on that's really exceptional.
Favorite one so far! Great chocolate flavor but not too sweet
Just my opinion, I don't like sweet flavors in my coffee bean, like chocolates, candies, or cookies.
I really enjoyed The Beast. Its name sounds a bit harsh for its smooth taste. It's good as an espresso, mild bitterness and overall candy aftertaste but in a latte, that's where the whole chocolate and cookie comes out. Though I prefer a little bit more bitterness and fruits, the few friends of mine who enjoy my coffee were unanimous with The Beast. They all loved it.
The description says it is simple. It was definitely that, a little too simple for me. I would like a little bit more complexity in my coffee. Still not bad, though. Definitely great quality.
I enjoyed the bold and slightly sweet flavors of this one. It has identity. Usually prefer lighter and more floral notes, but I would drink this again
Good flavor. Lighter coffee with more subtle flavors.
Not enough roast coffee flavor and too much smoke
Rich flavor not too bold or bitter
Very good cup of coffee. Complex and smooth, medium body with good flavor a through out
Not overly bitter or overpowering for a darker roast. Definite dark chocolate taste. I preferred the Snow Leopard in comparison.
I felt that this was a balanced cup of coffee but did not stand out as anything unique.
We felt there was no flavor in this blend.I even made the second pot stronger. So sad
Mellow without any bitterness. Slight taste of roasted almonds in the beginning. Leftovers are excellent for iced coffee in the afternoon
Had a bitter flavor but also kinda weak. Not our favorite.
Loved the flavor of this coffee. Cold brewed with a Toddy and this may be one of my new go to's.
Sarina and I are in love with this perfect balanced taste. Love the hints of chocolate in this
Much better than the last batch! Tasted pretty good using Aeropress and tasted OK using pourover. I think I might like lighter roasted coffees than I realized and maybe I was wrong to select the medium roast coffee when starting this subscription - which is great for me to learn! In reality I think this coffee was more like a 3.5-4 star, but I am giving it a 3star to make it clear that the first coffee was still probably the best of the 3. I hope this is not too critical - I am not trying to be a coffee jerk, I just want to find what coffees I like best!
Liked it much better this time. Strange!
This one was really acidic and we could hardly taste the coffee flavor.
This has been our favorite coffee yet. A hard task, considering we have loved nearly every choice!
