The Colombia La Chiquita Mandarin Washed was carefully roasted for you by Brandywine Coffee Roasters. La Chiquita coffee farm is located in Chinchina, Caldas, Colombia. The farm is only two hectares planted with the Tabi variety. This unique lot from La Chiquita is a result of three weeks of anaerobic fermentation with dehydrated mandarin. After 15 days of drying on raised beds, the final and most important stage of Mandarin Washed processing is the stabilization in rum barrels, which took almost two months.
This coffee is delightful. I enjoyed it as a pour over using the v60 method. A vibrant tropical and citrus fruit-forward taste without being overpowering. What I like is the lingering coat is left making me desire to pour another cup. This coffee was clean and roasted well to focus on the flavor of the beans. Thank you Brandywine Coffee Roasters for this wonderful experience.
The tasting notes are pretty spot on but this coffee was not for me. I would describe the tasting notes as more orange peel and pith then the juicy fruit. My super taster wife pointed out heavy amounts of canned pea both on the nose and palate and ruined it for me because now that’s all I think about. Perhaps it is just my preparation process. I used my stock Encore grinder on 11 with a AeroPress and Prismo attachment. I gave it a three star because it accurate to description just not for my taste buds.
Amazing. Immediately smell the mandarin and the familiar fermented coffee flavor. Highly recommend.
