The Guatemala Santa Clara was carefully roasted for you by Verve Coffee Roasters. This fully washed coffee was grown by Ricardo Zelaya in the Antigua region of Guatemala between 1,600 - 1,850 meters above sea level. We love this coffee for it's its nuanced notes of milk chocolate with a pleasant citrus acidity and balanced overall quality.
This was great and would love more coffee like this one!
This coffee definitely has strong milk chocolate notes. I loved it as a single cup pour-over with a ratio of 27g of coffee to 350g of water. It was also balanced for a coffee with chocolate notes. One of the best Guatemalas I've had!
Delicious, balanced cup.
A very balanced coffee, with definite notes of chocolates and subtle hints of spice. It exhibits subdues acidity.
First time I brewed it I used a French press and brewed for 4:30 with a 1/16 ratio. The coffee was perhaps a bit over extracted, so I reduced brewing time to 4 minutes. This made the citrusy acidity come out a bit stronger. Still, I'd like for that aspect to be more present.
This coffee is really well balanced, the chocolate comes through without being too heavy and the citrus comes through without too much acidity in the coffee overall. Lovely flavor palate.
Great everyday coffee. There's some medium acidity which reminds me of apples and raisins, and a creamy chocolate flavor throughout. Not very complex or nuanced though, in my opinion.
I really liked this coffee. The flavors weren't too extreme in any direction. Definitely a great every day drinker. My gf says the bag matches our kitchen decor, so that's a plus too : )
Great all around coffee. Works best in my Aeropress.
I liked this coffee for it's milk chocolate notes but it was a little acidic for me. I liked its juicy body but was craving a little more depth? It was really crisp but I was wanting something a little deeper and richer and heavy. This is a great summer coffee because of its fruity citrus and definitely drinkable/enjoyable, but its lacking in the warmth I crave in the fall/winter.
I would describe the flavors as almost overwhelmingly citrus. Which isn't to say it is not a delicious coffee, only that I found I needed to tweak my standard coffee to water ratio to get it to an enjoyable level. It is very bright and aromatic. Personally I feel that it lended itself better to a French press rather than an espresso.
