This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Kickapoo Coffee Roasters will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
The Driftless Organic Blend was blended and roasted for you by Kickapoo Coffee Roasters. Simple and straightforward, this Direct Trade coffee is intended to create a rich, balanced profile that is unassuming and approachable. The cup is rich with notes of chocolate and caramel, perfect on its own or with a bit of cream and sugar.
Flavor was not very rich. Bland. The flavor was not bad, just light.
The tasting notes say it all, chocolate, caramel, and very smooth
I really loved this blend - the chocolaty notes really hit the spot and I would love more of this or similar to in the future
I just didn't like it. This is probably the first one that I really didn't care for
Solid. Have had Kickapoo before but this was a good blend.
A very smooth coffee that goes down easily. No bitterness or burnt taste to the blend. Personally, I prefer just a bit stronger but was still satisfied.
OM-my freakin'-G. This coffee is totally amazing. Rich and chocolaty with no acid nor bitterness. I found my new love!
Excellent! Perfect mix of medium to dark roast with great balance of rich chocolate and mild sweetness. Big hit with the crew at work.
Juicy berry nuance, sweet and mild, not too bright or sour like other ethiopian beans I've had before. 18g through the pour-over is the way I like it.
I've been subscribing for months that this is absolutely my favorite! Great flavor.
Fantastic aroma & smooth, subtle flavor to match.
I like it, but I felt like it was lacking depth of flavor.
Very good but nothing super special
It was good, but not the best coffee I have ever had.
very much enjoyed
Good flavor, but I prefer something a little lighter
Almost fooled me into thinking I was drinking hot chocolate! Especially when added cream. Roasty cacao notes. Very nice to sip!
Very nice coffee. Took a bit to get it dialed in for a good, bold, flavorful cup with my pour over but it turned out nicely once dialed in.
Very drinkable coffee.
mild, flavorful - easy to drink black
Excellent choice for “first cup of the morning”! I prepared this using my French press. The flavor is clear and robust with not even a hint of bitterness. Delightful!
Stacey and Adam
Love it! Really smooth!
Very good. Smooth and pleasant.
Good. Kind of blah though. Not a lot of character.
smooth, rich with a little sour taste
This coffee was superb. It is smooth with a depth of flavor and a clean finish. We enjoyed it black and with cream and it was great both ways. The chocolate in this roast "pops" especially nicely with cream. We are very much enjoying it.
Too dark for my tastes. Flavor was masked by the dark roast
Excellent coffee, I liked the richness without being too dark. Great coffee.
Very good coffee. My first delivery from MistoBox so looking forward to comparing it to other choices
Not quite as bold as I like.
Very mild flavor, would like more boldness.
Mike and Kim
Love it!! Perfect blend!
Great tasting coffee
I loved this coffee from the first whiff of the beans. I taste the chocolate, it's deep and rich, no bitterness. Absolutely, delicious.
rated in error
will rate once we try it.
Good flavor, not too acidic
4.5 stars. Excellent everyday cup of coffee!
Great taste and very smooth flavors. I really enjoyed this blend and would request it again.
Very good, it is very smooth!
I loved how balanced this coffee was, and I loved the rich flavors.
Nothing exciting. Way too bitter
Enjoyed this coffee. Markedly different from what I am accustomed to drinking, in a good way. FWIW I am in this for the variety and the opportunity to try new coffees.
Perfect darkness/color. Really enjoyed! Didn't need sugar to balance bitter.
John and Kimberly
A bit weak, brighter and crisper than I was expecting.
Eh, okay but wouldn’t buy again
Tasted darker than it looked, with slightly more bitter finish than desired. Good body, but would not order again.
It's pretty good. A perfect 'boring' cup of coffee. Balanced and cozy are apt descriptors. Unremarkable, but not offensive in anyway.
Deep/rich flavor, not super subtle
Very flavorful and aromatic, definitely picked up the chocolate notes. Enjoyed the richness.
Decent blend lacking in complexity and layers. A bit too dark in roast for me.
Very smooth but could have been richer and more flavorful
Delish I really enjoyed it. Good flavor
I thought it was OK. Milder than I was expecting and I don't taste the chocolate that others seem to. Overall enjoyable but I wouldn't get it again.
I thought this coffee was good. I really love the flavor of Kona coffee from Hawaii.
It tasted flat and cardboard-like to me.. didn't seem to have much flavor. Perhaps I should switch to a dark roast?
I would prefer single origin coffees so i can really find a region I like.
I am really enjoying the coffee blend. It is so good!!
It’s good but I’m not a dark roast fan. I prefer a sweet, rich medium roast Columbian coffee. I brew my coffee in a reusable single cup keurig. Any suggestions on grinding? Maybe I’m over grinding...
tug-ce definitely not tugce or t :)
Might be a little bit dark.
Great! Brewed over a Chemex with an Able Kone. Full bodied, rich with a smooth finish. 5 stars.
Exactly as described. Wish I had used cream instead of milk with the coffee to make it even richer.
A bit darker than my preference. Best brewed in aero presse, excellent coffee, but surprised me with more "brightness" than "richness" when I brewed with my clever dripper. Also, I had to bring the brew temp down (from 201 to 195) to compensate. Unfortunately, I am very sensitive to brights and high florals.
Rich but I could not detect the flavor notes. Good but not for me.
Loved the tasting notes!
Love this coffee, it is delicious. The grind is a bit fine though and it is difficult to use Aero press. It also leaves a murky mess in bottom of the cup.
I tasted the nutty and chocolate notes. It was silky but my husband’s palate tasted a bitter note. Not as bold as we are use to.
smooth, not bitter. I really liked this one!
Smooth and balanced but nothing that really sets it apart from other coffees
Smelled beutiful. Simple, but delicious
I enjoyed it but was pretty bland, would prefer something richer/more complex. Brewed with chemex
Nice balance of strength and taste.
I don't care for the flavor much at all.
Everything I love in one cup! Pleasantly surprised; I think I just found my new favorite blend!!
Loved the balance and chocolate flavors, great to wake up to on a lazy Saturday morning
This was just okay. It didn't really do anything for me aside from enjoying the name.
I really enjoyed this one.
High quality coffee but didn’t like the strong chocolate tones. Not a fan of chocolate my coffees, prefer nuttier/earthier blends
The bag had a tiny nick in it so I may not be experiencing the coffee at its best. I presumed that is not to be expected going forward.
The coffee lacked boldness for me.
I invite questions or reactions if this is unclear.
I've brewed using both french press and pour over. But either way I couldn't get any flavor and complexity. It's rather bland.
Just ehh. A little too fruity and acidic. Needs to be more chocolatey, nutty, and bold. I know their description says that, but it is not quite right.
I am really enjoying this coffee! Right up my alley with the chocolatey notes.
Don't love "flavored" coffees, however this one was okay. I liked the full bodied-ness of it though.
I prefer a lighter, breakfast roast.
I tried it with a blue bottle dripper and it came out a bit under extracted. I tried it with a bee house and I thought it was delicious. With the Chemex, the coffee came out underextracted.
After trying it with a few different coffee makers, I did not like the flavor as much as I originally thought. I will stop updated this; sorry if I did too many times!!
Seemed like a very weak brew. It’s a lighter roast than I prefer. I ended up increasing the grounds by half to taste the brew. Will try it in my French press next.
I like a lighter coffee, I think. A little bitter for my taste.
Matt and Erna
Very good as both hot and iced coffee.
Bold, excellent wake me up blend
We really loved the taste of this blend! So smooth!
Better with a french press over a pour over technique imo, very rich and with a spicy nose
Enjoyed. Chocolate notes came through. Wouldn’t mind trying something less chocolate next time for comparison
I liked it but it wasn't as strong as I was hoping.
I found this to be good - not excellent. It was a very balanced cup with little to no acidity, not too dark of roast, subtle chocolate notes, and toasteness. Overall a good classic cup of coffee but not complex. I enjoy this for an everyday coffee but could use a touch more nuance. A good morning coffee! Overall, I am pleased with the roast. Maybe I’m looking for a light to medium rather than medium to dark? No complaints - this may be a morning cup. Now I need to find my afternoon cup.
it was nice. Very easy to drink but not memorable. I wonder if adjusting the grounds/water ratio would yield a stronger cup. Currently using 1:10.
Mild coffee, good flavor.
Wasn't quite as strong as I normally like, but I loved the smooth flavor, and that it was organic. :-)
Delicious coffee, very mild and smooth, not to all bitter. One could drink this black easily. I like the flavors -- kinda like a Milky Way, a bit of cocoa, vanilla and caramel. I think many people would find this too soft in flavor. I mixed in a tad of a darker roast to get it up to medium bodied flavor.
Kristine & Chris
Both of us thought it tasted like chocolate peanut butter, which we thought was great. One of us prefers richer, darker coffees and the other likes light-to-medium more complex flavored coffees, and this blend was a good compromise, as it fell somewhere in between. We tried several preparations, french press, chemex, aeropress, and espresso machine, and thought aeropress was the best version.
Traditional coffee taste. Good but not anything that makes you go "wow"
Overall good coffee. Alittle acidic little darker then i would have liked. I typically like a lighter roast with more complex favors. Still keeping with the chocolate, caramel notes etc. Not a bad start but not blown away either. Thanks
Tasted a little earthy for my tastes.
Did not like this one. Maybe too fruity?
Chemex: clean. Smooth. Balanced. Roasty notes. Chocolate. Easy drinking and enjoyable but not particularly interesting or complex. Would be a good everyday coffee.
French press: Richer chocolate notes. Creamy. Balanced.
alright, probably better than other full bodied coffees
Please dont send again
Had it on aero press and pour over. Found it too dark. Flavor was okay but not great. Would appreciate a lighter roast next time.
Nice, well balanced.
A bit dark for me. Prefer brigher, more acidic and floral roasts.
A bit sour. But over all good
smooth and creamy. loved it.
It was okay. I don't enjoy coffee's that have a blonde bean look to them once they have been ground.
Thought it was great, wonderful choice. Smooth, not bitter or tart or burnt.
Not a big fan of this one. It was very acidic and I didn't get very much caramel taste because of the acidity.
Nice crowd pleaser coffee.
Nice and bold, but balanced flavors, with tasting notes that align with your comments (chocolate, some caramel). This is one I'd consider getting again.
Jason & Elodie
Very balanced; perhaps not as rich as I imagined but pretty indicative of Central/South Americans - clean, lively acidity. More layers of bright flavor really come through after it cools down a bit. Usually I prefer bolder coffee, but a pretty good everyday blend.
Very balanced; perhaps not as rich as I imagined but pretty indicative of Central/South Americans - clean, lively acidity. More layers of its bright flavor really come through after it cools down a bit.
Really enjoyed the good base flavor, and slight carmel taste / smell. Overall a solid blend.
First coffee we received. Great and off to a good start. Smooth for everyday.
Thought it was OK. Not very flavorful. Didn’t taste smooth or rich. Wasn’t a very strong coffee.
Steve and Jocelyn
I love the aroma and flavor of this coffee.
Ron and Paula
I absolutely loved it. My husband thought it lacked boldness.
Very nice taste, and excellent aftertaste!
We did not like this coffee. Sorry it seemed to have an less than robust taste.
Stan & Jane
Didn’t enjoy. Prefer something darker, more bold
a little too acidic, otherwise good
I can smell a hint of the caramel when it is brewing. Do not smell or taste any hint of chocolate nor taste the caramel. Pretty plain Jane taste.
Overall wasn't incredibly flavorful, but good!
My first impression was the coffee was smooth. Did not seem acidic. I did not get any hints of flavor except for I think was Graham crackers. Would like to see a hint more caramel and cream.
Felt very light to us and not robust and flavorful. By the time I added cream it felt watered down. Have tried adding more beans and still same taste. Would prefer more robust flavor or darker.
ENjoyed this. Good flavors and not to bold
Overall, it was smooth and easy to drink. Although, the flavors were pretty mild and we would probably prefer something with more bold flavors/ a darker roast.
I like it. It didn't wow me in terms of freshness or strength or flavor, but I have no reason to dislike it. It was a normal cup of coffee that I could drink black perfectly fine.
It wasn’t bad but didn’t overly excite. Maybe a little fruity would be better
Good flavor and richness. I used a bit less coffee per cup than I normally do because it was stronger than I usually like but I enjoyed it
This coffee had very good flavors, but was a little too subtle. I prefer something with a little bit more bold flavors.
I tried this coffee using a pour over and drip methods. I found that with the pour over, I got a stronger, better tasting coffee than the drip method. I could definitely taste the chocolate notes. I will have to use more grinds next time for the drip to hopefully get a little stronger cup. Overall taste is great!
It was ok. I would like to try something with more body and flavor. Thanks.
We all liked this coffee very much. It was rich and smooth with no bitterness. We like an intense flavor and are open to something stronger.
The aroma was great but the flavor was good but not great for me.
I felt it was maybe to acidic for my taste. The notes of chocolate and caramel not as pronounced.
Not my favorite. Although somewhat smooth, I didn't enjoy the overall flavor, no matter how I ground it.
Will and Shital
We liked that it was smooth and had a good flavor that was not overbearing or bitter.
Was a good light coffee with hints of the flavors profiled, I would love to get something a little darker but would definitely drink this as a daily drink!
Prefer a darker roast
I liked the roast and how dark it was. However, I think something with more vanilla notes and less acidity would be great.
Theresa and Tom
This one was a miss for us. Not sure if this was a medium roast, but it was too light for us. Next shipment would prefer something a bit darker.
Smooth - Used mostly for cold brew and it had a strong, consistent taste.
I liked it very much. I would like to try a more robust blend with richer flavor.
Really like it. Would still like to try something different, tho.
Good if you like dark roast. I do not I can always taste the carbon/burnt bitterness. More upset that I got this coffee in general bc I said in my profile that I do not like dark roast.
So far, so good. This coffee does have a warm, smoky feel to it but not overpowering. The aroma was very pleasant when I opened the bag. I love when the smell hits you immediately upon opening the bag up. I definitely feel like I pick up the hints of chocolate but not sure about any caramel notes (which is a flavor that I usually really appreciate).
Stephen & Katherine
Loved it! It had a great smooth taste but still a lot of body.
Very smooth. Not at all bitter, and perfect richness. Will be buying more and can't wait to see what comes next.
Medium blend. Nutty, cocoa notes. Robust. Deliy
balanced and pleasant, but I may enjoy something darker roast more
Lovely, smooth texture. Nice, clean aroma.
Good rich flavor
VERY good! We really enjoyed this one.
Andrea + Guy
Smooth cup of coffee!
Good “middle of road cofee” probably not strong enough 4 me
Richard & Emma
Enjoyed this coffee very much. Very smooth and balanced. We drink our coffee with cream and it tasted great. Good pick.
Very good flavor.
Excellent dark roast. Very smooth with milk chocolate notes. Not acidic or harsh, which makes for a very balanced blend.
Loved the coffee, smooth and fresh.
Bobby & Denna
so smooth, very pleasing. Perhaps just a bit stronger coffee next time.
Tasty not bitter. Good balance of flavors that I enjoyed. One I would purchase again.
Very easy to drink. Maybe something a little bolder next time. And can I have a coarser grind to brew in my French press?
Sian & Dennis
A little darker roast than what I was expecting but really enjoyed the taste!
Enjoyed the Carmel notes.
It seemed like a wonderful company but the coffee itself seemed a little too weak/dry/light—we had to use more beans than usual for a medium roast.
Wonderful aroma and nice mellow flavor. I really liked this coffee and would buy again.
I tried it in different brewing methods, and adjusting grind sizes, but it tasted sort of like a fruity light roast i’d had before. I’d still drink it, but wasn’t a favorite or one that i’d choose to try in the future.
I was not overly impressed with this selection. The flavor was weak and lacked boldness.
Upon receiving this particular blend of coffee beans, I have been pleased with the flavor notes over the last week. I use a coffee grinder to grind the bean into a medium grind to use in my French press or Ninja Coffee bar machine for drip coffee. The notes of chocolate and caramel are delicious. I tend to prefer the note of caramel over the chocolate though. Would love to see more blends like this one.
I love this coffee, very smooth and delicious. I am using about 2 tbsp per cup to get the desired strength. I’m wondering if there is a stronger and richer perhaps darker blend that is just as smooth??
Delicious aroma. The beans were surprisingly small. The first batch I brewed was a little weak, but still produced some good notes.
From my latest brew, upon opening my coffee mug I got hits of sardines (not in a bad way) along with a bouquet of the typical chocolate caramel that come from a quality medium roast.
Nick and Sarah
It was okay, had a little too much acidity. I prefer more of a chocolate note
This has to be the lightest medium roast I ever encountered. I tried this multiple times hoping the outcome would be different but every time I pour a cup it has the color and light body of a disgusting cup of coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts. It makes me sad that my review isn’t better because I was so looking forward to this coffee subscription. I like the flavor but it’s hard to get over the consistency.
I really like the flavor notes and acidity. This is definitely the type of coffee I gravitate towards.
I think I'd like to try something a little cleaner and fruitier. Maybe a lighter roast. I'm new to the pour over set up and want to take full advantage!
(Chemex, 200 degrees, 50 grams of coffee to 700 grams of water, grind setting: 20, barraza virtuosa burr grinder)
I am normally not a fan of chocolate notes but I liked this coffee. A good medium roast for someone who typically likes light toasts.
I did pour over and felt it resulted in a more lighter roast taste. A little light for me.
nothing special. seemed flavorful the initial 2 days. now I notice that it is bitter/acidic. a bit of a lighter roast than I normally choose.
Great flavor with no after taste. I tried brewing in a French press and traditional drip brew and both were excellent.
Didn't care for it--too light, bright, acidic. Like Trader Joe's Bay Blend Ultra Dark Roast, Ruta Maya Dark Roast from Costco, Mayorga Cafe Cubano Dark Roast also from Costco.
What a way to start my subscription. I found the blend smooth. The chocolate notes could be tasted and was well welcomed. Drank with cream and Splenda made it almost a dessert. It was brewed by pour over; coarse ground. Thirty grams to 350 grams of 195-degree water bloomed with 60 grams of water for 30 sec. The second pour is 90 grams. The third pour is 100 grams. The Fourth pour is 100 grams.
LOVED this! Smooth, didn't taste bitter or seem to have a lot of acidity.
I like this one.
Very smooth and mellow. This makes a perfect cup for an afternoon.
Debbie & Bob
I loved how smooth it was but I may not have used enough coffee as it was a bit weak.
I've realized I like dark smoky roast much better, this left a bitter light roast taste in my mouth unfortunately.
Well-balanced, full-bodied, and smooth. The perfect cup every time.
Good standard, would
Like more flavor
Excellent coffee. Very delicious, and I will definitely welcome coffee similar to this in the future. Doesn’t mean you can’t mix it up, but this is going to go to.
This coffee was a bit mild unless you used a lot of grounds. I found it to be very balanced and not overpowering and the chocolate notes are very pleasant.
Smooth flavor. Thumbs up.
Like it very much. Also like the nutty coffees.
We really enjoyed this blend.
This coffee tasted like regular black coffee with no flavor.
I liked it! Tasted rich without being too dark or heavy.
I did not receive this coffee.
LOVE this coffee. Gives me that feel good sensation.
Too heavy on the floral notes. Would like something a little more full bodied.
Very good and smooth flavor. Not as bold as I expected but low acidity. Yummy!
Meh. Wasn't our cup of tea.
Seemed kind of "earthy" to me, and didn't brew as strong as I would have liked. I always use half and half in my coffee, so maybe I need something bolder...
I loved my first coffee! The caramel flavor was really present for me, which I liked. The roast was perfect and smells amazing! I also found it to be a really smooth and balanced cup... not overly sweet or heavy, no burnt/sour flavors.
Coffee was very smooth, no bitterness to speak of. But somehow, this left flavor pallet missing something. I have not tasted such a smooth coffee, but think I would like something with a little more kick to it.
Very good. Roast is perfect, great texture/mouthfeel. Nice acidity, but it lingers on the tongue a bit too long. Otherwise, the finish is good.
I really enjoyed the richness, and roast level of the bean. I love the bold and smooth combination. I also enjoyed the chocolate and caramel notes.
I was initially concerned about the medium dark rating, as I dislike dark roasts, but this blend is fatastic! Thank you!
Great Super flavor and taste..very easy to drink and enjoy would like this coffee again!
Scott & Kristin
Was hoping for something a little more bolder. This was a decent medium blend coffee though.
Fantastic. This is such a smooth coffee with a delicious flavor. I always put milk in my coffee but not with this one. A new favorite for sure. Two thumbs up
I did not like it. It had bitter undertone. Also did not like caramel flavor
Organic was a plus. Delicious flavor.
Too light, weak flavor
Coffee tasted stale.
A pleasant cup of coffee. It stats smooth and has a bright, acidic finish. I prefer a cup that has a bit more depth. I didn’t get the chocolate and caramel notes but I do have a cold so my taste buds could be off.
Loved this blend!
Thought this was very good. I’m typically a dark roast guy but am getting more into medium so this was a little lighter bodied than I’m used to but that was expected as I get into more of these.
Good but a little to bright and acidic for me
Nicely balanced and liked the roast level. We are interested in trying a variety so the next pick doesn’t have to match this pick. Thx
i'm not sure this coffee knows what it wants to be. Yes, it's chocolatey and rich but it has weird notes of acid with an incongruous hint of fruit. It's a solid choice for morning brew and did well with a bit of milk. However for me, it doesn't have a distinct personality. Initially thought the roast looked too dark but once it was ground and brewed it was good.
This is my standard. I don’t think I would like anything any darker
This coffee was a little one-note for me, and the roast was the main flavor for most of the ways I prepared it (rather than chocolate or caramel). But it did make a great chocolaty cup when I used a fine grind and a low temperature. Overall, it's an OK coffee, especially for something a little on the darker side, but nothing I'd go out of my way to get again.
Very smooth. Would not want any darker roast. Enjoyed it.
Good for a darker roast, but I typically prefer a lighter roast than this
Holy wow! This was legit the best coffee I've every had. This was a great pick for. Thank you!
Once I increased the water temp and amount of coffee, it had a bolder flavor.
This is incredible. Tastes like a pour over. Our fave coffee at home ever
The quality was not the issue here, I have enjoyed Kickapoo in the past and list them as one of my favorite roasters. The natural sweetness came through nicely but was overshadowed by the brightness that was almost on the verge of sour.
This was way too fruity for my taste and very weak as far as I was concerned. I used the same amount of this coffee for my French press, as I normally do, but the coffee came out much weaker.
We really like it. It goes well with our creamer.
The description given is spot on. Very basic. Not as exotic as I had hoped. Slightly buttery slightly sweet., almost bulletproof coffee-ish. Not a bad coffee. Nothing special. Solid morning cup or mid day
I’m usually a fan of a more rich or dark coffee, but this was a good morning roast to start my morning. I enjoyed it but might want a darker or more bold flavor next time. This is a great early morning coffe though and I really enjoyed it.
This coffee was enjoyable. Smooth, not at all acidic. I guess we just found it a bit forgettable. I can't remember any distinct flavors that would make me want to reorder.
It contained a lot of subtle flavors I don't get in the heavily roasted main stream coffees.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Kickapoo coffee. I like that the coffee flavor is not acidic or tangy. I like the mild, very balanced flavors of chocolate and caramel very much.
Love at first sip!
Rich in flavor and perfect balance of bitterness.
My bf and I didn't dislike this coffee, but it was a touch sweeter than we prefer. We brewed it in the French Press.
Pretty nice, a good amount of roasty nuts and cocoa. I think I might prefer a single origin to try.
We found it to be a bit bitter in the after taste. We really didn’t agree with it having chocolate or Carmel notes.
The coffee was good but a bit too simple and straightforward for me. I would love to try some coffee with more of a rich flavor.
tastes like flavored coffee.
A really great tasting cup of coffee. Exactly what I was looking for.
Rich and complex. I dig it! There was a bit of acidity I was not expecting; not sure if it was because the grind was too fine. I might experiment with it and see how it goes. The chocolate notes definitely come through, but there is some nice deep earthiness in there.
It was good; wasn't overly exciting, but made a solid cup.
A little more bitter than I typically like.
I little weak with a lot of chaff.
A very good no-frills cup of coffee. Chocolatey, smooth, and well-rounded. Nothing really POPS here, but I don't need every cup of coffee to blow me away. Sometimes I just want a good, solid cup, yaknow? I dig this.
I think I would prefer something bolder/darker, not necessarily a fan of the chocolate and caramel.
The chocolate and caramel notes a very light but this is an excellent and very smooth coffee! Super enjoyable.
It’s balanced and smooth. Slightly sour and not as bold as I hoped for. But overall it’s pretty nice.
We really liked it. It was nice and rich. Maybe a tiny bit on the bitter side.
I didn't think I'd like this one at first since it didn't have a strong aroma, but I ended up really liking it. I think if it was slightly darker, I would have loved it!
This was a bold and rich start to my day, really liked the blend, but would have welcomed a slightly darker roast.
Diana & Israel
I love the "sweetness" of the chocolate and caramel. I barely taste any acidity which is great. The less, the better.
It was wonderful.. great flavor without any bitterness!!
My wife likes this one a bit better than the Papa New Guinea. I like it was well and think it is a good strength but neither of us feel we would go out of our way to purchase this one in the future.
This was an excellent coffee! It smelled wonderful when I opened the bag. I absolutely loved the taste. I'm not good at describing what a specific coffee tastes like, YET, but it's definitely good.
Very good! Nice richness. Slightly earthy and nice notes of nuts but I do prefer a little more nuttier and earthier notes. I enjoyed the chocolate and caramel notes that the coffee expressed. Overall, very good and I’d probably drink this coffee often.
It has a great aroma and a great taste. I'm all about a coffee making my house smell as good as it tastes. This coffee delivers on all levels. It was very smooth and balanced. The only thing I didn't like, was I thought it lacked a little depth. To me, it lacked a flavor or a kick or something that I believe gives a coffee an identity and separates it from the rest. I was very pleased though and would recommend anyone to give it a try.
It is medium roast, but has more of a roasty taste than our normal dark roast. We don't detect much of the chocolate or carmel, only a plain roasty taste. Is this due to our unrefined palates? Our purpose in this subscription is to increase our appreciation for the subtle flavors we read about in reviews..
It wasn't as complex as I would have liked. It wasn't bad but it was just an average cup of coffee. Nothing too special for me. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate notes in this one.
I really like the coffee, great dark chocolate flavors. I've actually drank more than I expected to so I've selected a shipment more often since I'm almost done with the first already. Excited to try something different. I really appreciate that the roaster looks to promote the farms it uses beans from, are there many different roasters that do that?
Too much citrus. Seemed to give it an acidic taste.
Slightly darker roast than I like but nice bold flavor
I like the flavor and freshness of the beans. It’s a LITTLE dark compared to what I usually drink but it’s good.
Didn't enjoy this coffee. It was very bitter
Nice aroma, sweet, not bitter, which I prefer.
Definitely darker than I usually prefer, and overpowering if piping hot. But given a couple minutes to cool the bitterness gives way to a rich flavor. Not something I would repeat, but definitely a coffee I can appreciate.
Delicious, but I prefer something slightly bolder
I prefer a bolder coffee. The taste of chocolate and caramel were subtle.
I loved this coffee so much. Smooth but super interesting, not too bitter... excellent choice!
Very tasty. Hard to discern specific flavors. My pallet is no good with tasting. But me and my wife enjoyed it very much
Chocolate notes seem to be the strongest - which is a good thing!
Delicious and so chocolatey. Loved this rich round flavor!
Solid coffee, nothing super crazy or amazing, great for a morning cup
Easy to drink. Balanced. Drank it black. Medium bodied.
Very nice coffee! Probably didn’t get 5 because it is maybe a bit too mild. A little boldness would make this a superb coffee.
Really enjoyed this one. Great flavor
It's hard for me to judge a coffee well because I usually have a stuffy nose and I often have to drink it out of a thermos. This one was smooth and tasted good, although I could only make the flavors out faintly.
Good Flavor, Little to moderate bitterness. Decent as black coffee or as a basic latte. Best with only flavored creamer about 2 oz to 14 oz of coffee. What would a slightly darker roast differ than this? or even a dark roast?
A bit on the bitter end of the chocolate and caramel spectrum, but still smooth. The aftertaste isn't my favorite, and it doesn't mix well with a vanilla creamer, straight black is better.
Overall this blend was pretty boring. I did not get the chocolate or caramel notes. On the richness scale it was very low.
Very good. Enjoyed the balanced flavors this coffee produced.
This roast was still too dark. It was definitely less than Peet's or Starbuck's, but even still I was unable to distinguish the flavors due to the darkness of the roast. It isn't terrible, but it isn't particularly enjoyable either. I know it's too dark (for me) when all I can taste is a bitter and ... ?burnt? flavor. This one I could sort of tell there was something else to it, but the bitter and burnt flavors were so overwhelming it really didn't come through (for me).
Still, it was definitely a good quality coffee; Just not my thing.
I like earthy or fruity flavors in a medium roast most of the time, and that is definitely not this blend.
I liked it a lot!
Great every day coffee - very smooth and silky. Easy to drink.
Very enjoyable. Loved the rich flavor
Tasted great but was such a laxative! Lives up to its name! Yikes!
Great earthy, roast aroma from the beans and grounds. Flavor is dominated by dark chocolate. I like it a lot and am looking forward to drinking it over the next 2-3 weeks but does feel like a "one trick pony". I'd love to revisit this one, but not an ideal daily drinker.
BTW- I use an Its American Press but I selected French Press since it's functionally similar.
first pot was too sour; by the second pot, it grew on me. I like it. My g/f says it's the best coffee we've ever made. Nice caramel flavor.
Too light, not enough flavor.
Kind of an ashy aftertaste.
Smells amazing, very tasty - don't need sugar for it.

we really liked this coffee-- the aroma was perfect and there wasn't too much acidity.
a little bitter
Just seemed to be on the weak side with not much flavor.
Very nice flavor..would have enjoyed a darker roast
I really enjoyed this coffee! It was smooth and flavorful.
This was ok; nothing special. I had a roast from Kickapoo that is longer produced that was outstanding, so this one was a little disappointing compared to that one.
Too light tasting
Brewed in a Bon Mac pour over on medium grind setting. Incredible smoky flavor particularly when sipped right away. Also accompanied by a vegetal flavor that wasn’t very palatable. As it cooled, however, a wonderful chocolate flavor emerged that mixed nicely with the smoky flavor. Definitely a winter or cold weather coffee but a terrific drink nonetheless.
Great coffee, very balanced with a great flavor. Not too sweet just overall a nice blend. Already ordered more of this one!
Nice coffee. Sweet. Balanced.
Great combo of dark roast flavor with just a touch of that coffee bean sourness. Really good cup.
Wife and I enjoyed this coffee! Super rich and decadent prepped in the Chemex.
Well-balanced and full-bodied
Very nice and balanced.
Nice medium blend. The chocolate notes were fairly light. Wish they were a bit stronger.
This was an absolutely delicious Blend. Perfectly roasted and brewed a gorgeous cup in Vlever and V60 Drip,
Reminded me a lot of Day Tripper. Very smooth but not overly strong flavor notes.
Subtle flavors, well balanced, chocolate and nuts. Brewed 1:15 Chemex 200 deg water 30 sec bloom ~5 min from bloom to finish.
This is pretty good, but I thought their Organic Driftless Dark blend was more flavorful. Also maybe come up with more different names for coffees, I got this one twice before I realized it was a different coffee than the Organic Dirftless Dark.
A bit too dark, not very nuanced.
This is a perfect for my morning cup. Smooth enough to drink black and nicely enhanced with cream.
Wasn’t crazy about this coffee, I am not a huge fan of Columbian coffee.
For me, this coffee was all about simplicity. It exposes itself in subtle feints as the cocoa and toffee notes begin to coalesce, creating a refreshing and very pleasing cup. I really enjoyed this offering. Nothing at all over-powering or abrasive on the tastebuds. It was--at least for me--a very enjoyable way to slide into a frigid winter Saturday with nothing on my to-do list except to put up my Christmas tree and otherwise lazily enjoy the arc of a peaceful weekend.
Best coffee to date!
smooth and rich, easy to brew
Not bold, very light, weak coffee,
Not the most exciting one we have received, but was enjoyable in the mornings. Just fell a bit bland. Maybe we could have done something on our end (in terms of grinding and such??) to help kick it up a notch? Overall good.
Not at all smooth. Bitter
Light, smooth flavor.
Good flavor,an unexpected sweetness which was enjoyable.
Don't change s thing, perfection. Thank you. Patty
Delicious! Caramel undertones that linger!
Really mellow, prefer a little bolder cup of coffee. Flavor was good but a little too slim on body for us.
Better than the first try. The roast is more what I prefer, or even just a bit darker. It arrived when I had just opened a bag of something I had here at the house, so actually just tasted it for the first time 2 mornings back. Saw that a new bag has already shipped on Wednesday this week for Monday delivery. Would appreciate if I could tast the coffee and review it before another coffee is selected and sent. I am concerned that the coffee just sent is described in part as 'earthy', and that does not sound appealing. I am willing to wait till I receive, brew and taste before judging. I would greatly appreciate it if you would wait till I submit my review before going forward with the next selection, since I now have about 1-2 day overlap on finishing the Kickapoo coffee before I open the new one. Thanks!
I could definitely taste the chocolate as an after taste when I tried it as a cold brew.
balanced. definitely has notes of chocolate and baking spices. solid medium body.
Tasty blend but a little too mild.
There was an overwhelming veggie/back of the throat taste that was distracting. The descriptors listed above do not match my thoughts.
I brewed this in the french press, which my husband liked it a lot said it was smooth, earthy, not bitter at all. I thought it was kind of bland in the french press but then I brewed it as an espresso, not sure if that is what you're supposed to do...but then it was really good!
Perfect morning blend for me!
This blend is fantastic. Has a very fresh and smooth feel to it. We love the taste, profile, and smell. I agree with the flavor description above of chocolate & caramel, and it meets our preferences nicely. High marks - and the organic nature is a nice kicker.
Well balanced and pleasant hints of caramel. Also great as a cold brew.
Very smooth, great flavor.
I prefer dark, outgoing and quirky and instead got the white rice of coffee. Bland, unassuming and boring. Fine to drink in a ho hum sort of way.
I am drinking this hot with cream, no sugar. Aroma is light, barely noticeable. Taste is solid, somewhat richer made as pour-over than french press (I believe that I used the same ratio in both). The taste needs a bit of sugar to be balanced. I would rate it higher, but there are lots of good coffees on the left coast. This one does not quite stand-out.
We were in the middle of our first light roast single origins when the Driftless arrived. It was the right thing at the right time. Coming off of single origins from Africa, Asia, Central and South America, the Drifless brought us home with remarkable effect. Ahhhhh... Coffee. I remember now.
We found the Driftless expertly balanced, with that familiar taste of roast, but not the char we used to insist on from our french roast. That being said, I belive our dark roast friends would find the Driftless enjoyable. It is a crowd pleaser.
Jess loved it, but she just enjoys saying "Kickapoo," so take it for what it's worth.
Good quality coffee! Would rate it a 7.5 on scale of 10.
I wish the flavor was stronger but otherwise this was quite pleasant.
has a bitter aftertaste.
Great choice, I have been with Blue Bottle for a long time so I am used to what I call a "bite" to the coffee. Mild and very pleasant taste. I will soon try a cold brew of the blend later this week.
The roast level was good (maybe a touch darker than my preference, but I enjoyed it), but I found the flavor profile a bit bland. It was missing the... distinctiveness of some of the single origin coffees I've had.
Love it! From the minute I opened the bag, I could tell it was going to be good. It smells wonderful! Love the caramel. It also processed very well in my super automatic.

We loved this coffee. The flavor notes black or dressed up with a little cream and sugar were intense but balanced. I liked how there was no smoky flavor that turns me off to darker roasts (like our first coffee). Color was on target, if not a little lighter than we usually go. Slight acidic notes as the coffee cooled but overall a great cup.
The curator notes says it all. Simple and straightforward. Also, exactly the kind of coffee I enjoy.
Great aroma, perhaps lacking a little in taste.
Delicious, flavorful with hints of chocolate and caramel. Love it!
