I typically don't pick beans lighter than medium and my initial impressions were a 2. Even though the beans were harder to dial-in compared to darker roasts and had more citrus flavor than I like, by the end of the bag the flavors were growing on me. My best espresso pulls with this bean for my cortado initially start with more of a citrus taste but as it cools more of the chocolate notes and a hint of the toffee notes come through. Overall it had a pleasant mouth, good taste once dialed in properly and the espresso extraction is very repeatable so I raised my rating from my initial impressions to a 3.7.
I wouldn't recommend as a pour over however since even more of the citrus flavor comes through and over powers the notes found in the espresso.
Pretty good - just at the beginning of getting this dialed in
The taste seems very one-dimensional, sour and nothing else
Harsh, little sweetness
It was ok. Made a good espresso but flavour was a little too subtle for something like a cappuccino.
Seemed like the beans were great for a couple days but then their flavor dulled pretty quickly
My first true espresso bean and first machine. I made the best cup ever I loved it!!
one of the best I have had from you guys in a while!
Some nice chocolate notes, toffee doesn't really come through, leans a little bitter
Rich, smooth, and well balanced with notes of dark chocolate and a subtle caramel finish. Made excellent espressos and delicious cappuccinos.
A little too much acidity for me and maybe a touch too light.
Hello Connor, I'm excited to get started with Mistobox! I wanted to reach out just to say that I don't think I can give an accurate rating due to the grind. We just moved back to the States from abroad, and we don't have a grinder yet, so I asked them to grind the espresso beans for us. The grind was a bit too coarse for the shots to pull correctly. Do you have any advice? Should I get a grinder and see if I can make it a bit more fine?
Anyway, we're happy to be here, and are already looking forward to the next delivery.
Would order again.
Visited the coffee shop in Ashland.
Produced a nice crema and had a pleasent aroma. Was too acidic for my palette. I wouldn't say I was able to pick out many individual flavors in this blend-- it was an average, decent espresso.
Brewed using case's reccomended brew recipe of 20 in, 40 out, 28s.
A little bit too bitter
Best coffee I had in a long time
Wasn't strong in caffeine realm. Flavors were a little muted. It wasn't too bitter (good thing).
Bland, not much flavor. No body.
Just the right amount of sweet, which overall may be too sweet for some. Great for lattes.
Very nice medium roast coffee. I like the subtle taste of the chocolate and toffee of this coffee. Full bodied and yet balanced. I brew my coffee using E61 head espresso machine and make cappuccino with lactose free whole milk.
Simply Excellent! Will most definitely order again.
It tastes great and the flavor comes through well
Smooth, with a smoky scent. The flavor notes (chocolate and toffee) come through well. Worked well for a latte, although was a little too subtle in that context for me with the standard 8 oz of oat milk. Would have preferred a slightly bolder finish. All and all very good.
Great coffee with plenty of crema and a balanced taste without bitterness.
Loved the taste (REALLY loved the taste and richness!) but waaaaay too much caffeine. We all felt jittery after more than one cup and had trouble resting
As an expresso, it was smooth but a little too acidic to be a favorite.
It was great. I liked the acidity. I would drink it again!
The beans arrived in a ripped bag. Average taste, nothing special.
Very good not to acidic which I liked
Good, a bit boring, typical mid-city espresso. It is consistent just not suited to my personal tastes. Prefer something a bit fruiter/brighter
I think I have to give this one a satisfactory but not preferred. I did switch water partway through this bag and found the harder of the two waters muted the bitter roast character and also the pretty large acidity of this brew. It was the roasty bitter finish that killed it for me. I found it completely unsuitable to filter brewing but better as espresso.
Made beautiful espresso. Thick, rich, but bright enough to not be bitter.
Pretty good as drip too.
Too dark for me.
so smooth and so delicious! Love this one. Such a well rounded body, perfect for this chilly evening.
Too acidic for us
Solid coffee. I was able to get a handle on the recipe quite easily. Wouldn't mind having it again
Loved this roast! A perfect blend of flavor and caffeine punch!
Awesome. I only want espresso forward coffee
Not bad, but a darker roast than I like.
Loved the flavor and creaminess. A little darker than what I would like though.
Wow! One of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time. So smooth and you can really taste the chocolate and toffee! Delicious.
This is great! More like this please
Did not like the way it smelled when freshly ground or brewed.
It was good as a pour over black and with a little sugar and milk. I did find I had to over dose to get stronger noticeable flavors. I did not enjoy it as an espresso as it is such a light roast.
I like the taste of this one but the grounds were not ground fine enough for an espresso machine. Since the grounds coudnt be packed tightly I dont think I got the full experience of this coffee
Strong milk chocolate flavor. Difficult to dial in for espresso
well balanced - can't go wrong
A little too dark for my taste as I don't tend to drink w/ milk.
Look, I know I'm rating all of these five stars, but so far all of them have been great. I love trying all of these different coffees.
Kinda stale, to me. too roasty/dark
A bit too chocolatey for me but nice. This one was a tricky to dial in as espresso.
Very well balanced. Nice chocolaty flavor as cortado. Not much nuance. Brew 36g at 252 for 30 sec.
Excellent for lattes, very smooth.
Rich, cocoa, my gfs favorite
Smooth but slightly bitter and earthy for my taste
Amazing espresso. Great chocolatey notes with a slight fruit finish. Creamy mouthfeel as stated. This claimed to be 75% Guatemala Hunapu and 25% Ethiopia Debo. Great combo!
seth.. this coffee has just shipped today so i havent gotten a chance to even look at it. but i'm not on the exlusive tier so i can get an espresso blend shipped to my door.. if you took the time to look at my last several shipments i selected, there's no way this would be en route. please don't do this again!!
Was a little too bitter.
Didn't taste like the notes giving.
This coffee tastes mostly like milk chocolate but hints of citrus near the end of the shot. Not too interesting on its own but makes a good base for a cappuccino.
Not a bad coffee, but nothing I would buy again. It just doesn't have anything unique about it. Kind of boring.
The roast was close to 2nd crack on what is a smooth coffee Colombian, not my favorite of blends it has no depth
Just had my first cup and it was fantastic! Bold rich flavor, yet not bitter. Smooth and aromatic.
This review is a little late as I am going off of memory, but this medium-roast blend was pretty spot on in terms of flavor profiling and made a very delicious cup of coffee. For espresso, it was a well-balanced shot, with chocolatey notes at the front followed by a burst of mild acidity to finish it off.
For normal drip coffee, I primarily use a Hario V60 pour-over, this coffee stands among my favorites. The pour-over method really lets the fruity notes shine, I don't quite remember the fruit, but I do remember fruit first, then a slight toasted hazelnut and finished off with, again, a dose of mild chocolate.
All-in-all, I highly recommend this blend from Epiphany House, you will not be disappointed.
Really good. I think better matched with milk. Kind of lacks complexity in pursuit of balance. Again, better than 99% of the coffee's out there.
Fantastic coffee! My favorite thus far.
Great blend! Very smooth with a nice flavor.
Very full bodied with notes of cherry. Makes an excellent crema when used as an espresso.
Very mellow and enjoyable, smooth from beginning to end. Clean finish. I'm looking forward to having this again!
I liked how this was sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, and had a slightly fruity note to it. It was a little weak though, and did lose some of its impact in lattes--it seemed to work best alone.
Not as strong of a coffee flavor, but still good.
Smooth and balanced. This coffee was a great espresso and excelled as macchiato and cappuccinos.
very good option for me - will try to make in AeroPress. Balanced flavors come out, the citrus is sweet
Delicious and well rounded. Had a perfect sweetness, and smelled of chocolate when ground fresh
I like it a lot when I make a good cup, but it feels like it's harder to make a good cup than other beans I've liked. Needs to be perfect water/bean/grind ratio.
really good, I definitely get some of the chocolaty notes
this one is actually kind of disappointing. almost no aroma when you open the bag and kind of uninteresting and flavorless.
Pretty good. Not as strong as I would prefer when with milk.
One of my faves from Mistobox, great crema and great flavors. Awesome with steamed milk and is also great when brewed with a french press!
*shots pulled from a La Pavoni Romantica
Didn't find this to my taste....blends are getting tough-too many notes.
