This is the Bold and the Beautiful Organic brought to you by Spyhouse Coffee Roasters. This Organic certified and fully washed coffee was sourced from the growing region of Huehuetenango in Guatemala and was produced by the ASPROCDEGUA Women Producers between 1,600 - 2,200 meters. This is a well developed Medium roast offering that we think is perfect for those who want rich notes of baker's chocolate, black walnut, deeply caramelized sugars that reminds us of crème brûlée and vanilla.
Very robust flavor and and was able to taste the notes but way way too dark for me
Weak coffee just tastes burned and like hot brown water. Not a fan of this coffee.
a little bitter, but nice creamy texture
Love the chocolateyness of this coffee! Pulls a beautiful espresso shot!
Very smooth. Fairly dark, but none of the drawbacks of a dark roast. Good.
Very good but agree with other reviewers- a bit dark. Had to be sure to not brew this one too long.
Great cup of coffee. Full bodied. Great flavor. Good blend of smooth and bold.
Great coffee but a little dark for me.
so smooth. love it!
Great coffee to have with creamer. Not overly strong or bitter, very smooth.
Tasty but not a standout; quite strong
This was a solid cup of everyday coffee. While it is a dark roast it possesses
a surprisingly subtle sweetness yet is grounded by the presence of the walnut.
A great cup on any given morning.
Loved this one! Smooth and toasty and nutty, low acidity, low tartness
I get a strange sour taste after it cools. I’m going to play with the grind
The flavors are much more subtle than the other coffee that’s been sent. It’s good but I like the bolder, richer flavors
Great, pairs nicely in an iced Americano with a splash of half & half.
Good for a dark roast, but I definitely prefer lighter roasts.
Roast was too dark for my taste.
It’s not bad but it’s not great either. Very average.
"soft or hard" flavor depending on the amount you brew. I brew by the cup and I have to say I'm surprised. It's not a bitter flavored coffee, sweetens easily with less sugar than my normal coffee. It smells sweet before and after brew. Didn't taste much of the black walnut or creme brulee, but after drinking a couple cups I see why it's tasting hints are labeled as such. This is a keeper for sure.
Smell was fantastic, though the flavor was a bit bland for my liking. I think I like a darker roast.
Really enjoyed this coffee!
Nice! I don't remember much cause I forgot to save, but I do think I liked it.
Josie liked it a lot.
Very rich, a little too dark
Excellent balance. Smooth, and the subtle baked goods flavor makes this such a comforting cup. Will gladly buy this over and over
Liked this one. Was smooth.
soft, muted flavor and chocolatey notes
Not very smooth. No creme brulee notes.
Tasty, nice aroma
Can definitely taste the creme brulee flavor. Solid coffee.
Really enjoyed the flavor and body; I found the coffee to be rich and flavorful but not too heavy. Great mouthfeel as well.
A little bitter. Not as flavorful as I was expecting. It was ok, but not memorable.
Hit the jackpot. Enjoyed this one, for sure.
Seemed too strong to me.
I found it little darker than a medium roast but still a great coffee. The notes of bakers chocolate came through nicely and just a hints of the black walnut. Very enjoyable.
Excellent coffee with rich nuttiness, burnt sugar and smoky oak flavors. Really enjoyed this coffee and kept wanting more.
Bitter and one-dimensional
Could not get this where I wanted with the pour over. Aeropress generated more flavors.
So good!!! Don't usually like darker roasts but this was amazing
I loved it! Deep and rich taste.
Strong yet still fairly balanced. Flavors layer nicely without cresting into the darker French roast burnt flavors.
One of our absolute favorites! Super rich and creamy, smells so good, not acidic at all. Great flavor.
Strange aftertaste a bit watery.
I like the freshness of the coffee. But it didnt have the rich taste i was expecting. Id definitely buy it again.
IT was okay
Smells like Cigarettes
I found this coffee to be very good, but a bit too acidic for me.
Good Coffee, a little too much ‘burnt toast’ taste for my liking.
I like this coffee, but it certainly seems deeper than a medium roast to me. Maybe a lighter dark roast. Not what I would want most of the time, but fine for this week. The bakers chocolate flavors come through for me. Also, walnut (but not black walnut...no citrus notes, which I associate with black walnut).
I loved this! Smooth and creamy. To me it definitely tastes chocolatey. One of the highest quality tasting coffee I've had.
Smooth Medium coffee. Was good for both brewed and espresso
Outstanding Coffee! My kinda dark roast...deep but not extreme. One of my favorites in the past year.
Bold and Beautiful fully describes it.
Weekend w John
Coffee was fine but relatively uninteresting/bland
An awesome cup of coffee. Perfect roast and flavor, not oily or bitter. Loved it.
This coffee is smooth. Has a rich tones . Addition of cream gives a richness to die for.
Great flavor. Still a bit light for my taste. "Full bodied" is an over-statement.
Too roasted, overpowered the flavors
I thought it was too dark and would've given it two stars, were it just me rating it. The rest of my house liked it fine, but it didn't reheat well.
Love it just as much as the Klatch coffee I received last.
We loved this coffee. Smooth, flavorful, but not bitter.
Delicious and complex. Especially good with Aeropress
Ok cup of coffee we found a bitterness that we could not get rid of despite several adjustments to our brewing technique
Good balance , maybe high caffeine
too acidic for my stomach to handle
Another cup of perfection. Flavorful with a deep profile even at room temperature. No bitterness.
Good cup of coffee
Tasted fine, but lacked strong distinct flavors that you expect from a single origin coffee.
Worried it was going to be too bold but in fact had good nuanced flavor
Definitely NOT a medium roast, at a minimum its a slightly burnt medium-dark roast, not to mention the bag says darker roast.
Very good and liked it very much. Very rich, great aroma. Brewed with Moccamaster, ground with Encore (setting 18)
I loved this coffee as pour over and as drip! Very smooth, had a rich taste! Would get again!
This coffee is outstanding. It is dark and bold with notes of unsweetened chocolate, walnut, and caramelized sugar. It is perfect as a french press. Honestly, I will likely special order this coffee again I enjoyed it so much.
Did not like.
Just a bit on the burnt side of medium but I liked it anyway.
Nice cup, but slightly too bitter (baker's chocolate?) of a taste for my liking.
Nice cup, but slightly too bitter (baker's chocolate?) of a taste for my liking.
Hands down the best coffee I’ve had. I love coffee and some would say I’m obsessed. Ordering more now!
Silky, smooth, amazing taste, caramel really jumps out
Love how smooth and bold this coffee tastes! After two cups, I’m already hooked.
Decent too no complaints.
Rich and smooth
I'm really enjoying this one!
Delicious! Drinking this now with my niece and we both love it. I feel like this would be good with pie or cake.
wonderful, smooth and flavorful
Good coffee, taste was bold and could be a good daily driver. Nothing impressive about it though.
echoing other comments - bitter, overly acidic. no nuance. bouquet unappealing.
I threw it away it was so bad.
This one mostly tastes like the roast. I also found it acidic without earthiness
Smooth, clean flavor. No bitter aftertaste.
I was really excited reading the description and tasting notes, but did not end up tasting any of these flavors. It really just tasted burnt, bitter, and earthy. This is categorized as a medium roast, but it definitely tastes more like a dark to me. Ground on medium in a burr grinder and brewed in a v60 pour over. Not sure how to change my process to compliment these beans better.
Update: I realized after giving this coffee a few more days it may have been the switch going from a light-med roast to a med-dark that gave it such a strong taste. In the end I really enjoyed this one.
Bold and rich in flavor
a little bold for me
It was OK--a little on the darker side for my taste.
subtle notes of earthiness
Very good coffee!
Lauren loved it! Julian thought it was goid
too bright for my taste. I prefer a more mellow flavor.
Delicious. Balanced, complex, but not bitter
Good quality, not very complex
Neither of us cared for it
I like the hint of Walnut. Well rounded, full bodied. Clean taste without the swampy earthiness that I have detected in a lot of coffees lately, However, it doesn't seem to be very freshly roasted. I may have been sent an old batch.
The Bold & The Beautiful Organic coffee was superb. A nice dark roast that was very smooth to drink. I highly recommend this coffee as it is superb to drink (if you enjoy a dark roast). Will buy again. Yum!
Jamil's favorite. Especially loved the creme brulee taste
I loved this Coffee
Medium body and mouth feel with very subtle notes. I prefer more intense flavors and body. a Brewed on Aeropress.
Lovely! Nice and dark/rich, with a fantastic smell
Pretty nice... feel like the walnut may be a little to strong
Dark roast but not burnt, love the flavors
I loved the way this coffee smells and tastes. The vanilla comes through without overpowering
Nice coffee. A little darker than depicted in the description. Black walnut and very dark chocolate notes. Not burnt or overly roasted. About as far dark of a roast as I would ever want to go. Got the best out of it with a 60g/L ratio, medium-fine grind, and 200* F brew.
An ok blend
A solid coffee with good balance.
would definitely be happy getting this again
Good blend coffee.
Our favorite yet!
This is delicious, both as a cold brew and french pressed.
Strong chocolate flavor, enhanced by the walnut with a bit of sweet at the finish with the brulee. A great cup!
Amazing. This was naturally sweet, full and delicious.
Fantastic. I'd drink this every day if I could. Love the toffee and vanilla notes that pop through, and the darkness that this brew has without veering into stinky or bitter (can you tell I hate French roast?
A little too nutty.
Pleasantly surprised by this coffee. I didn't expect it to be great with the first cup, but my standard pour-over technique made a very nice cup the first time out. I'm really liking this one.
Not a big dark roast guy, but this one is easy to drink.
Both loved it. Seemed very very smooth and yet rich.
Smooth. Nice for the morning.
this is quite a bit darker roast than I usually get. Not a huge fan.
This roast is perfect with french vanilla syrup and makes an excellent cappuccino, a course with Half and Half or whole milk froth.
The taste on this coffee was rich and delicious, but would prefer a light roast over a dark for higher caffeine content.
Clearly a quality roast, but I don't enjoy dark roasts
Very interesting taste to it, much different than previous beans I've received and I loved it!
Jason & Julie
Haven't enjoyed a dark brew in quite a while! This one is great!
Loved this roast, would definitely order it.
Loved all the rich notes; one of us in the family really enjoys it when it reminds of desserts, the other one doesn't care for it. But since I'm writing the review I'm putting 5 stars.
A little bit of a burnt taste at the front, but a really nice finish.
bold for sure, tasted ok.
This batch didn’t seem to have as much toffee flavor as in the past. Is that seasonal? Still an excellent coffee. Likely my favorite of all you’ve sent.
Really liked this one. Esp with a higher ratio of grounds to water.
This one was a little tricky to get to where I wanted it. The flavors still taste a bit off, like they don’t quite go together well.
I love these dark roasts! Super complex, but they don't overdue it. The flavors in this coffee compliment each other really well without going over the top. Keep em coming!
good and would like to try again
Has dark chocolate and notes of black cherry(?) It is OK. A coarser grind removes some of the black cherry or sharper notes, leaving more chocolate or cream-type notes, but it isn't a coffee that grabs me.
Love the soft tones in this
Strong, smells like fudge, not acidic
It seemed way to “dark” for our liking. We have “medium” roasts on our preference. This is the first too dark roast in a long time.
Way too dark. Bitter, artingent, could not finish even one cup
This is my favorite coffee from Mistobox- out of 31 so far! It's rich, on the darker side or medium, and smooth. I definitely get the burnt sugar notes.
