This is the Sumatra Ratu Ketiara Gayo brought to you by Anodyne Coffee Roasters. This Semi-Washed (Wet-Hulled) coffee was grown in the Aceh region of Sumatra between 1200 and 1600 meters above sea level. This coffee comes from family run farms that have been organized by the Ratu Ketiara Gayo Coop. Specifically, this group of women farmers was formed in 2017 to help overcome gender inequality among coffee farmers in Indonesia, as well as help support young farmers.
I brewed this in a chemex with both paper and metal filters as well as French press. I enjoyed them all and definitely picked up on the black tea notes. Very enjoyable cup. Overall, I enjoyed the French press the most. 4.5 - 4.75 mins. produced a bit more flavor and the extra body from the press gave it a nice richness.
Taste more like tea rather than coffee, a bit to weak for my taste.
Makes an excellent brew. I started experimenting with making my own blends, and this is an excellent base.
Up front acidity/tannins = black tea
Nice range and complexity
