The Costa Rica Las Lajas Black Honey was carefully roasted for you by Brandywine Coffee Roasters. Beneficio Las Lajas is owned by Oscar and Francisca Chacon and is known for its unique and exceptional drying techniques for natural and honey-processed coffees. A specialty of Las Lajas, the black honey process has been developed and refined over the seasons and involves the coffee being left on the patio for a period of 24 hours. In the cup, we're tasting flavors that remind us of apples, cranberries, and rhubarb.
Strong aroma right out of the bag that continues after grinding. Bright, fruity, but with a strong punch of ferment that has notes of dark dried fruit(prune-ish) kombucha and champagne vinegar. Totally different than anything else I've had from my list. A good cup for sure, but not something I could drink every day.
Wonderful coffee. Very bright and acid forward
I love Costa Rican coffee. I find the balance of flora and fruity excellent with low acidity. I do find this one a bit dull compared to other black honeys I’ve had. Though, I am still dialing in my grind and dose setting.
Good, has some of the fruit flavors of a good natural processed bean.
This coffee is fantastic. It's round and complex with a great mouth feel. It's got so much flavor without being over powering or aggressive in any way; just a fantastic, comfortable roast that I look forward to every morning.
