This is the Costa Rica La Mirella brought to you by Ceremony Coffee Roasters. This honey processed coffee was grown by the Finca La Mirella in the Sabanilla de Alajuela region of Costa Rica between 1,450 meters above sea level. We love this coffee for its nuanced notes of nougat and caramel sweetness with orange-like acidity.
A really nice coffee. A good sweetness and acidity. Has a key lime component where it's sweet and acidic at the same time. Has a milk chocolate flavor too when pulled on espresso or aeropress.
Juicy and nice tropical flavors
Overwhelmingly, I was not impressed with this coffee. I did some looking around at the roaster on their website and I would be interested to see more about their processing, purchasing, or sorting. I think the biggest thing I noticed is that the beans are very different sizes. I imagine this is mainly due to a process for sorting the raw beans that then once they were roasted meant a lot of the beans being roasted differently and so once it was brewed the flavor had notable acidity, but the flavors seemed muddled from cup to cup. This coffee was just not my favorite. Id be interested to hear more about how these beans were purchased just out of curiosity. Can't throw the baby out with the bathwater, maybe a coffee from a different farm would have been roasted more evenly, but this Costa Rican coffee was just ok.
