This is a good basic coffee. We enjoyed it's rich favor.
Not a fan. Idk, just seemed too oily and bitter.
Very oily, almost burnt taste
Did not like
Loved this! Best coffee yet!
A strong and hearty blend that was also smooth. Good cup!
Horrible, over-roasted, dark sludge. Undrinkable!
Over-roasted; all roast no bean. I like dark roast but this one is practically cremated. It's fine in a French press but anything finer is pretty acrid. Would prefer something with a bit more nuance in the future.
Not all that great...really nothing special about this roast.
Did not care for this choice- much to dark/strong of a flavor.
Super rich, extra oily beans. Nice smooth dark taste.
It was so oily, I had a hard time calibrating for my espressos, and finally blended it with a medium roast to get it close.
Deep rich flavor, wonderful. One of my favorites
Loved! Everything I want in a coffee
A little too dark for us. The oily beans clogged our bean grinder.
Very mellow and roasty. Not acidic at all
Awful! Very sour tasting
Burnt, stale, VERY oily
This was a great dark roast! Really delicious - smooth, rich, and bit of smokiness as described.
My grinder didn’t like it for some reason, had a strange flavor
way to bitter. not enjoying it. most like going to pick up another bag of local beans to get me through.
A little bitter
This was great. I love the bold flavor!
too dark, tastes burnt
I enjoyed the notes of licorice
I'm not sure what about it I'm.not liking considering I love chocolate notes. I have loved every other coffee before this tho
Like Colectivo but not this French roast. Not crazy about most French roasts.
Super French roasted. A little too much for me.
I like this coffee a lot. Nice flavor, full bodied, good and dark. Good with which to start the day.
Extremely dark. Would prefer a bit lighter, more standard coffee taste.
Can you please send this one again? This one was so very good!
Not good. It was wet somehow? It clogged our grinder from the moisture or oil or whatever made it wet. Also flavor was meh.
A little too dark
enjoyed this one... like the boldness / richness (though I like even more!) and low acidity.
Oily and hard to get grind right to get espresso.
Not my favorite. Tasted burnt most of the time, too much bite for my liking, not terribly smooth or robust. Smells great, doesn't taste that way.
I rarely give 5 stars but this coffee is wonderful. Bold smooth with definite chocolate overtones. No bitter taste at all and it is definitely for the person who likes a dark roast. It is slightly smoky as described but not too much. Perfect Morning Brew! I used a percolator.
LOVE French roast coffee and Colectivo did great with this one. The balance of bold, smoky flavors with the chocolate hints gave you a full bodied cup of coffee that you never want to end!
It's good but not as good as the first one.
This bean was so oily that it clogged our espresso machine several times. Not fun.
A bit much on its own, but goes really well with some french vanilla creamer
Way too bitter and roasted flavor. Did not enjoy on it's own nor as a latte.
Wonderful rich coffee, very nice in a drip and makes a great cup through a pressure system DeLonghi.
Love the flavor. Huge fan of this brand.
This one was really good. Would have it again.
The roast was perfect, but I wasn't a huge fan of the dark chocolate notes. Also, I got this coffee two shipments in a row for some reason :/
Upgraded from 4 stars
Smoky but the lasting flavor was rough
I love this coffee so much! One of the best I've ever had.
Too dark, almost too “dirty” tasting, bitter
A bit too dark and bitter
Nice and Dark
Delicious dark roast, but not overbearing as some French Roasts tend to be. Hints of light earthiness and smokiness come through and contribute to the full mouth feel. Enjoyed this one the most so far.
My Husband does not like this one. He feels it is harsh and bitter.
Very unique super dark roast but still super oily. I loved it!
Too much like a Starbucks dark roast. I get the dark chocolate, but it was almost a bit too dark for my tastes.
Did not like this one please remove. Has a fishy odor.
A solid dark roast.
I really tried to love French roast, but it’s not for me.
Really liked this one.
One of my favorites! I love the deep rich taste and the oily beans.
Dark, chocolate, licorice
Great flavor and very smooth. Makes a great cup to wake you up in the morning if you like dark roasts!
Did not like this one at all. Took forever to dial in and the flavor profile was overpoweringly 'nyquil-like'.
Great cup of bold, low aciditiy. Definitely one of the better coffees from Mistobox
A very dark and bold French Roast. Nice aroma as soon as you open the bag. Dark and oily beans; easy grinding. I enjoyed the flavor, but it's just a little too close to the the extreme of dark roasts, and a bit bitter..
A little to dark and powerful for my taste but really strong and excellently made.
Very bold and dark roast. Love it
not a big fan of smoky..
This was ok coffee, but why did you guys send me the exact same stuff twice in a row? I thought the whole point of this service was to get variety?
Very bold but also smokey. A little too smokey for my tastes but did have a nice rich dark flavor.
Jason and Chelsea
Loved, and would definitely like to have it again!
The smokiness and chocolate notes are incredible.
Little too sharp and dark
At first I thought this was too dark and roasty, but now I have decided that I really like it. It really packs a punch. It is dark, ...you almost think it is too dark but it tastes delicious. Another plus is that it makes a great iced or cold coffee. It's almost bitter - almost too bitter. I think Dillano's French Roast Blend might be a little better than this, but I am not complaining and I am giving this five stars. Will wake you up!
Good coffee. Not quite as good as the first order, but good.
Not my favorite Colectivo Coffee but still good. Def can taste the smoky and chocolate, but I wouldn't call this one very bold.
Definitely taste the smokiness and chocolate and like the boldness
Lot's of bold flavor, rich and satisfying.
It's a great coffee, one of my favorite's. I'd appreciate something slightly sweeter next time
Well Seth, as I indicated earlier, I do like this coffee. After trying it for several days however, I believe that I like the Dillano's better. It is difficult for me to apply the adjectives you suggested. I just can tell whether I like it or not, and which one I like more. I wouldn't know where to begin with the nuances. It's kinda like wine... some people go crazy with the description, I can just tell you if I like it or not.
Very yummy!!!! Keep up the good work!
My favorite yet. A true dark roast, rich, smooth and bold.
This is my style of coffee - the beautiful oily beans grind down to that rich chocolatey bitter deliciousness I seek for my one and only (albeit 20 oz) cuppa each morning
Smoky, bold, intense. A great French roast!

I think this is our favorite so far. It is rich, flavorful and holds that flavor like crazy! We may have to do this one again, and again!
This was exceptionally good. I haven't had french roasts for a while, but this one reminded me how much I like them. And the smoky notes were perfect.
Really liked this coffee. Had a bold flavor with an oiliness to it that I really enjoyed.
I love this coffee! It's the perfect level of darkness. And I love the combination of flavors.
I enjoyed the rich flavor and smooth taste of this roast.
The chocolate aroma and flavor is definitely apparent. I like this even more than Dillanos Special Dark Blend. The beans are darker for this roast, and closer to what I usually like to use with my semiautomatic espresso machine. I am very sensitive to "burnt" tasting beans and I would say that this coffee does not taste burnt at all but is instead on the roasty end of the spectrum. This coffee is also slightly more bitter than acidic (which is what I prefer) but is really pretty neutral, I would say. Lastly this coffee produced a really nice, golden crema, which I always strive to achieve.
I like the bold rich flavor of this coffee. It is a bit stronger than what I typically brew but it was a good different. Not something I would want all the time but it was a nice change.
the flavor is mostly at the end and it feels flat. I'm feeling like i want something more round. Perhaps it is my grind
This coffee is really good.if possible I'd love something with a little less smoke flavor.mabey a more nutty flavor.thanks for doing such a great job.really enjoying this service.
This coffee is okay, but the smokiness is pronounced and I have found (after several "smoky" blends) that I'm not that fond of smokiness. I'd like to try more medium blends without this trait to see how they compare.
weak and light
These beans make a great cup of coffee. The smell is intoxicating.
I guess it's the smokiness I don't like? It tastes almost burnt and very bitter. I like dark roasts, but I want the chocolate and caramel undertones, not smoky ones.
Much better. Thanks. Good strength. A bit more smoke and sweetness will get us the goal of competing with Starbucks Espresso roast.
The beans looked to be too dark for me but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor.
Solid Dark Roast. Could've used a bit more sweetness.
A little too sharp for my taste.
This is definitely a great bold coffee. Starting with the presentation of the packaging, the dark aromatic freshness of the beans, and the bold, robust + rich flavor => this coffee is outstanding!!!!!! Wish it would have been a double shipment!!!!!
Very good dark and smokey as a french roast should be.
This was the perfect match! Thank you!
So smooth. Loved it
A little burnt tasting. Probably my least favorite of the coffees so far.
Wow you really nailed this one! It has that bold, smoky coffee taste that I love! I will definitely be buying this in the future!
Here's the headline I use to describe the day I received the Velo.
"French, Dark, Bicycle on cover (except in the above thumbnail), Life changed, Morning Enhanced!"
I'm pretty sure I chuckled out loud as my tear ducts moistened a little at the magic of receiving this perfectly curated bag of coffee. Thank you Mistobox and Samantha.
This coffee was better than the last but not quite 4 stars. The dark roast is good. The color of the bean is a little darker than the coffees I normally buy, but I don't know if that's a bad thing. It tastes more acidic than sour, which *I think* is a good thing. It didn't taste too bitter. I don't think I'm a fan of the smokiness of this coffee. Also, like I said before, I tend to avoid chocolate notes. I think I prefer something sweeter than this. One of my favorite coffees is the Starbucks Espresso Roast which has notes of caramel. Note that I don't mean sweet in the conventional way. I like my coffee dark with a touch of sweetness. I hope this makes sense - I still have a really hard time describing coffee.
Mostly uninspiring and bland. We're having to put 1.5 x the beans in the cup for it to taste as much, so slightly confused by the description saying "rewarding those who want a little boldness in their lives!"
Bold yet balanced. The best so far. Slight dark chocolate accompanies a solid backbone with a beautiful silky finish. Delicious!
Not a big fan of French Roast
I gave it many tries, but the scent of the beans are off-putting from the bag and even more so after the mill. The flavor is far less enjoyable than anything I have gotten from Mistobox thus far. I want to send it back.
Brian and Barbara
Drip - too bitter, acidic
Cappuccino - still bitter
Espresso - bitter
This coffee has an excellent top notch look and smell, but surprising bitter in all forms...If you prefer bitter, you will like this
A very nice quality brew, but a bit darker than we would be interested in
This was definitely dark and smooth. It had a nutty smell to it as well.
Doug and Joyce
Delicious, rich, and fragrant
The Velo French Roast was new to me, so I was excited to give it a shot. Upon opening the bag, I smelled notes of smoke, black pepper and dark cocoa. These obsidian-black, oily beans brewed into a rich, smooth and well-balanced cup I couldn't stop enjoying. On a foggy or rainy day, you can count on Velo to clear the cobwebs out of your head and help you start your day right.
