The Burundi Nyamaso Station Muyinga was carefully roasted for you by Sightglass Coffee. This Fully Washed coffee was sourced from Muyinga in Burundi 1,440 meters above sea level and was processed at the Nyamaso Station. This coffee has a soft, sweet mouthfeel, vibrant stone fruit juiciness, and a baking spice warmth of candied ginger.
One of the worst coffee I have had. Could not even finish the bag. Threw away a large portion.
Tried tweaking the coarseness and water temp, but could never get a satisfying brew. Even at it's best, it comes out as a little off. At it's worst it's almost undrinkable. The notes are present, but they take a backseat to the bitter, almost acrid taste that the beans possess. My best guess is that the quality of roast was poor, or it's intended to be a dark roast and it didn't sit well with me.
Rich baking spices with underlying dried fruit sweetness dominate with lighter, brighter final notes. Brewed on single cup Kalita Wave. A bit of darker roast character in the aftertaste but this doesn’t seem to overwhelm the cup to the extent that others seem to be experiencing. Enjoyable cup overall!
We love this style of coffee. Perfect for our classic drip machine at home.
In two years of weekly misto box, I have never received a coffee this bad. Whatever grind, whatever method, the only available cup here is the kind of Starbucks cigarette ash you might grab on your way to the terminal, if the world wasn’t on fire and sick to death. This is my first bag of sight glass since leaving the Bay Area a decade ago. It was roasted in LA, so I guess they scaled up to compete with all the other industrial roasters. It doesn’t deserve to be featured next to so many hard working small roasters who actually care about good coffee. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Tastes like sort of like diner coffee, don’t have a need to drink this again.
