The Costa Rica Las Lajas Black Honey was carefully roasted for you by Brandywine Coffee Roasters. Las Lajas is a name that comes with prestige where Costa Rican coffee is concerned. It’s the micro mill owned and operated by producers Oscar and Francisca Chacon, where their experimentations with drying techniques and honey processing has earned them a good reputation. This coffee has benefitted from the latter processing method, a black honey coffee that has been developed and refined over several seasons. Honey processed coffees have their mucilage still intact, leaving a sticky substance over the seed that feels like, well, honey. What differentiates a “black” honey coffee is the most laborious process, requiring constant monitoring and a long drying period. What results with the Cumbres del Poas Black Honey is a sweet, full-bodied coffee with fruity notes.
Didn't really care for this one compared to others I have had from this roaster
It was a bit over roasted. To compensate, I brewed a bit quicker and with a lower temp and it really made the coffee shine! Juicy pineapple like acidity.
Surprisingly, not that great for my taste. However, if you like a "traditional" strong black coffee, this one is for you. However, If you're expecting flavorful fruit notes and a more complex profile, this coffee is not for you.
Not a fan.
It’s the first time I’ve tried Black Honey Processed coffee so maybe it just not my thing. For a “light roast” coffee it’s surprisingly dark. It kinda tastes like a cigarette to me.
I am brewing using a Melodrip and a Chemex with bleached filters. I'm grinding my coffee with a burr grinder.
I wanted a little more. Couldn't quite get the flavors to pop like I hoped.
I thought this was outstanding
Best coffee I’ve had from this site thus far. Complex yet approachable.
This coffee let me down a bit. There was a lot of sweetness but it tasted like they pushed the roast a bit too far. Tough to get any clarity in the cup.
