This is the El Salvador El Almendro brought to you by Methodical Coffee. This 100% Bourbon coffee variety was grown 1,400 meters above sea level by Finca El Naranjito in Apaneca Llamatepec, El Salvador. This juicy, dynamic Full Natural has flavor notes of peach, passion fruit, berries, apricot, vanilla, and lemon.
Really is very juicy and clean. The tasting notes are very subtle and more just a general "fruity."
So far, it's just ok to me. I think a little too darkly roasted for my tastes (i love light roast and I think this one is more medium-light). I suppose I want a little more acidity.
I've brewed this using both V60 and Chemex methods. I used the 4:6 method on the V60 each time and it was alright. I used a similar method on the Chemex and it tasted sweeter. I tasted the vanilla and some apricot with this method. I'll finish the bag using my Chemex as each V60 cup I've tried has just been ok to me. I haven't been able to get the peach, berries, or passion fruit notes, so I will keep playing with ratios. On v60, I did 15g coffee to 225g water and used a conical burr grinder. Chemex was 50g coffee to 700g water.
I really want to pull out those juicy fruity notes and am open to recommendations for this! I will update my rating if I'm able to get those notes extracted.
