This is the El Salvador El Borbollon brought to you by Cartel Coffee Lab. This Fully Washed coffee was sourced from the growing region of Santa Ana in El Salvador and was produced by the Alvarez Family at 1400-1500 meters. The Alvarez family has been growing coffee in El Salvador for over 100 years and across four generations. We are tasting red apple, vanilla, and almond butter in this crisp, complex cup.
This coffee had a sour note that came through strong on all of the different brewing methods I tried, which I didn't really like. This was my first bag of coffee from Mistobox, and one that I picked myself. I wanted to try a light roast coffee, which I had never tried before. Best method was Chemex at a 1:12 ratio and medium grind.
For me, this is much better as espresso than as French press. I definitely tasted the complexity in this coffee.
This is a really great cup. I think the one thing holding me back from 5 stars is it is a little more sour than my ideal (in chemex).
Makes a really good pourover and an *excellent* espresso
The apple crisp taste shines through.
I really enjoyed this.
Awesome. One of the best, if not the absolute best, coffees I've received from Mistobox. Great balance of brightness and body in my cortado and my wife's Americano. I'm a third wave guy and I use a Breville BES870XL.
