This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Populace Coffee will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
This is the House Blend brought to you by Populace Coffee. The House Blend features high quality fully washed coffees from Colombia and Guatemala. This combination of coffees create a unique harmony of flavors that represent comfort and familiarity in coffee. This blend is a sweet, balanced, rich cup with notes of milk chocolate, roasted nuts, and a hint of stone-fruit.
Good, but a bit too bitter on the bottom and too fruity on the top
Chocolate, Rich, hint of cherry but not bitter.
Couldn’t get it to taste very balanced. Was either sour or underwhelming . Struggle to make it not sour, but getting a better brew recently and it’s good.
Didn't like the cherry
Great coffee. A little less citrusy than I prefer but would definitely drink again.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. My favourite blend yet.
This coffee was great. I enjoyed the chocolate taste. Feel free to send along more coffees like this, or of a hazelnut variety.
No individual flavor in particular jumps out and has no bitterness, but presents a sweet, nutty and balanced cup in various preparations.
WOW! This is one of the best cups of coffee I think I have ever had. It has a natural sweetness that comes through with the chocolate. AMAZING!!!!
We loved, loved this brew!! Memorable and just the most anticipated cup of coffee for me to have in the morning.
Had to take a COVID test to make sure I didn’t lose my sense of taste. Very underwhelmed
loved the chocolate and cherry notes
We liked this blend.
This coffee was very dry when it arrived and it's so hard that my Breville grinder locked up. I used a hand grinder and it's a real work out. The Breville handles all other coffees fine. I did a lot of troubleshooting and it was definitely that this coffee was so hard. I did other coffees with the same Grinder and those didn't seize the motor. The taste is fine, but this is a lot of hard grinding.
Sorry to say > so bad I am reconsidering subscription.. and I tried dialing it in my espresso machine (Breville Barista Touch), French Press, Aeropress and Infusion/Drip. If you can please send an organic medium replacement.. as I am trying several subscriptions at same time.
Well balanced, not acidic
Had great flavor and great blend
It wasn't to our taste. I like Sumatra dark roast. It was annoying that we couldn't pick the coffee that I gifted my partner.
Love this blend! Good earthy/nutty tones, good medium roast. The fragrance really helps the taste.
A good middle of the road blend. I liked it but didn't love it.
Great everyday coffee. Would definitely get again.
Very good! A solid morning coffee for quick pour-overs.
Overall has a very balanced, "neutral" taste-if I wanted the most neutral cup of coffee for myself, where I don't think it's bad but it doesn't wow me (but I can tell it's from a "better" coffee roaster)- this would be a great choice.
I am still unsure on how to necessarily describe elements of flavors, nor how to describe what I like/don't like in a coffee (hence why I joined Mistobox)- but I would say with this coffee I get a slight "tootsie roll" taste-which I've noticed very strongly in the Darkest roasts I've had before- that I'm not a huge fan of. I do like the "profile" of the coffee, I assume maybe it's the "balanced" aspect?
Great taste, full bodies aroma. Definitely taste the chocolate and roasted nuts.
This house blend was a little too fruity and acidic for my taste.
Not a ton of flavor. Had to do a 2:1 ratio to taste it.
Balanced flavor that did equally well with pour over, immersion, and aeropress.
It’s a fine coffee, but standard and bland. Nothing exciting out of this blend.
Smooth could use a lil stronger taste
too bitter and acidic for me
Tasted okay, flavors were too mild and had a bitter aftertaste.
Excellent, very flavorful coffee
I'm looking for a bold coffee with rich, flavors. This was mild and was hard to pick up on the chocolate and roasted nuts flavor.
It was good; no strong feelings.
Tasted decent. A little kore nuttier than I wanted. But overall would recommend to my friends.
Much brighter than I expected.
It was good but I would like more fruity and less heavy with the chocolate notes.
Completely bland. Tried three times and then gave up and threw the rest away.
Too light, a little too fruity. My wife thought it was a bit bitter.
I think this was a great first coffee! I like the hint of stone fruit but I think there's a note of dark chocolate (not milk chocolate) that makes it a little more bitter than I prefer. That was the only negative though. Otherwise it was great!
We liked it!! Clean yet flavorful! Savory scent
Average. Wouldn’t choose again.
Nice and complex. A bit bitter.
I like dark roast and this one was medium roast, I believe.
A little too light
Liked it, didn’t love it. A little lighter than I generally prefer. That said, normally would veer away from this type of blend but have enjoyed it so far.
Weak, too light.
It was good but a little fruity
A good tasting coffee but kind of boring. Notes were slight if at all.
Nice balance for an everyday coffee. Mild body. Nutty tasting notes. Could be more complex for my personal taste.
Since I use it for cold brew, it was not as robust as I prefer for my cold brew. The hint of milk chocolate was good, but I think it was overpowered by the other flavors.
Coffee was smooth, quality roasted, and I enjoyed the tasting notes! The fruity note was a bit stronger than I expected, but not a deal breaker. When brewed iced the flavors really hit you in a good way. Brewed hot it’s much more mellow and a good sipper. Great first coffee!
Delicious soft coffee!
Average mild flavor. Did not stand out from everyday brands. Prefer more robust flavor.
My coffee-tasting palette is the opposite of refined, this being my first (ever) bag of freshly roasted coffee. That is to say, I’m still figuring out how to describe the flavors I like and those I want to avoid.
I drink solely cold brew, which is how I brewed this. There is a flavor I’m not quite digging, but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s a fruity, cherry(?) flavor? Or possibly the dark chocolate — or a the two together? Even despite that unknown & undesired flavor note, I still enjoyed the coffee with cream, a couple sugars, and a tablespoon of vanilla syrup.
I’m thinking, I prefer coffee without any obvious sweet/fruity flavors going forward. Possibly darker roasts?
I liked this. It has an enjoyable flavor. Well balanced. Pretty good caffeine kick. It’s a bit understated and not quite full flavored. But for a basic, drinkable cup this is very good.
Very UN-interesting. Not my thing. It had some decent body but just wasn't anything flavor wise that was special.
Loved it. Almost no acidity. Tasted chocolate and roasted nuts. A touch of sweetness. Tastes like "coffee".
it was very good, maybe just a little acidic for us.
Solid balanced cup. This coffee does all the right things, while remaining polite and inoffensive. In terms of a house blend, it’s nice introduction to Populace Coffee.
Not as dark as I like. After taste was a bit too nutty.
Very balanced… perhaps not that rich in flavor, but balanced and hit the mark for a medium roast.
I don’t have much to compare it too yet, it being my first bag of coffee from this website, but I did like it a lot, so I’ll give it 5 stars. I really really liked the smell, and I liked the nutty flavor notes those are my favorite. Also I often find that chocolate notes tend to taste a little like dirt but in this the slight bit of fruitiness helped make the chocolate pop a bit more for lack of a better term, which is what I like. It was really good.
Too acidic for me.
The coffee wasn’t complex and tasted too earthy.
A decent classic medium roasted coffee.
Felt a little bland not that complex. Perhaps I dont love as fully balanced a cup as I thought.
Rich, smooth, really nice.
This coffee was a little too light and slightly bitter for my taste. Not awful, but not great either.
It was a little sweet and a little light for me. It was different but not terrible.
I usually like more acid.
This is a tasty, enjoyable, mellow coffee. I would enjoy coffees like this in the future and am excited to see how this one compares to future selections.
Really nice cup!!
My wife and I aren’t super knowledgeable about coffee, but I drink it a lot and she drinks every other day or so as well. We really enjoyed this! Perfect with just a bit of added milk - I could have it black as well but it was a bit too bitter for my wife to do that. We aren’t very well practiced on picking up flavor notes in coffee, and so we didn’t really get the notes of chocolate or cherry or anything like that. That being said, we really enjoyed this!
I enjoyed it and would enjoy others like it.
Decent, we don’t like ‘roasted’ flavors.
Good flavours, I prefer a darker roast.
It is not my favorite , maybe a little too earthy for me
Wrong coffee as I drink espresso so will not rate
Not bold enough in flavor. It was a bit thin in mouth-feel, not full-bodied or flavorful enough.
Delicious. Smooth. Medium roast with a hint of chocolate.
Not super strong, but a great basic blend
Overall, it's enjoyable. I prefer coffee that doesn't have a "chocolate" flavor to them so that's why I rated it lower.
I appreciated the balance between a bit of acidity/brightness and the darker (chocolate-y/nutty) flavors. It didn’t bowl me over, but it was quite good. My preference might run to a slightly rounder/fuller cup. Update: I should add that I was brewing with an aeropress, where it worked well at filter coffee strength and a little less well as ersatz “espresso”.
Love the flavors
A little lighter than I like requiring more coffee beans to get a full flavor. Some bitterness in aftertaste.
really enjoyed this
Indeed got some cherry flavor and some chocolate as described. Worked well in an AeroPress as I intended it.
Very nice balance, but just a little less flavors coming through than would be perfect
Well mannered coffee, very dark chocolate notes remain on the tongue after drinking. I taste light notes of cherry in the beginning of the sip. I also taste a woody (maybe nutty) following the sip. I did a pour over with roughly 17 g coffee and 303 g of water. The coffee taste of great quality, however not my preference. A little too dark of a roast for me, but none the less still great. I add milk to my coffee and the bitter taste of dark chocolate sticks.
A bit acidic
I haven't tried enough coffee to pick what stands out to me about this coffee, but I know I loved it and could see it being a staple of my morning routine. I guess I'd say I liked that it was on the medium side of light roast and it was a comfortable taste.
The best I have ever tasted!
Just okay. Not going to repeat this one, but enjoyed the bag we got.
Simple, tasty light roast. Not overly impressed but exactly what I expected from a high quality roaster. Got complex dark chocolate notes with balanced acidity. (22g/352g baratza encore 15, v60)
Good. Very dessert-y. Lots of creamy chocolate comes through with a very smooth profile overall. A bit more earthy or smokiness in the flavor would make it perfect for me.
I did not like the cherry flavor
Okay. It's really good. Forget what I said earlier.
Smooth. Very light. Would like more flavor.
This coffee wasn’t bad, I just didn’t love the sour cherry that really comes through on the finish. I do love sour cherries, just not in my coffee. I prefer a lighter body coffee because I can drink 3-4 cups in a row. I prefer nutty roasted and chocolate undertones over fruit.
A bit light for my taste
Definitely felt familiar and was easy to drink. A great daily coffee.
Very light brew (I would not count this as rich). A bit of a sour aftertaste.
Makes a solid cup. Not my fave
Didn't enjoy flavor on this one. Kind of a harsh taste
It has a cherry flavor which I like. Going forward I’d would request fruit forward or floral coffee to try if that's a thing
The coffee was so smooth and perfect for my taste
Produced a nice med body and med bright coffee.
Mild and smooth. A bit fruity too. Not what I am used to, but that's because I am trying to give up on the Kurig! At times a bit sour, maybe that was the cherry!? I threw away my 8 O'clock beans after drinking this for a week. I liked it.
This makes a totally fine cup of coffee, but it's not particularly special and it's probably a touch more acidic than I'd like.
This coffee had an oddly sour taste and smell to it. Perhaps it was just this package but it was one of the worst coffees I’ve had.
Didn’t like, bland taste
Not as much flavor as we'd like
Solid day to day coffee
It was an okay coffee not terrible but not amazing either.
Very chocolately, good kick to it!
A good blend with nice cherry notes.
It had good flavor, but I would prefer something with more bold flavor
Not a fan of the rich and chocolate tones, prefer fruity and bright.
Smooth taste! Perfect Saturday cup!
Very delicious coffee! Perfect roast level. Very balanced flavor.
The coffee was aromatic, but subtle. Wonderful light taste of cherry with earthy undertones.
Really loved this in a pour over!
pretty good. for me, it was a hint of cherry at first and then finishes with a subtle chocolate flavor. solid blend.
We loved this coffee! Send it again!
This was pretty good. I've been experimenting with a Chemex and had to mess around with amount and grind size, and settled on a pretty good 38oz of beans ground to an almost "sand-like" texture. Once I got to that point, the coffee had zero bitterness and no acidity. Overall a very nice warm cup that really worked well for the mid day. Lots of nuttiness and a little bit of cocoa. This was a good one to start with!
very good flavors. smooth and balanced
Delicious but a bit too mellow - a little bit of milk really drowned it out.
Reall rich and delicious, low acid, big flavor!
It may just be personal preference butt he acidic taste of the cherry isn't for me. Overall it's a nice coffee with a balanced flavor and rich undertones. The acidic taste is the only thing I'm not a fan of. I brewed at lower temp with bold setting turned on.
Was weak & didn’t like the after taste
mild flavors. like the acidity, but would like a more fragrant and full-bodied coffee!
It is okay. Quite mild, I appreciate it isn’t bitter. My husband said it is not as good when it cools in his mug as the organic medium-dark roast beans we get from Costco.com. What can we try differently?
Forgot to record notes. Remember it being pretty good.
Brewed in Wilfa Precision coffee maker. 45g beans, medium fine grind, 1L of water.
Very nice mild coffee ☕
I thought this might be too light for me but it was delicious.
I don't love this -- its a little too sweet and chocolatey. I think I would prefer something with more fruity notes, maybe plum.
If I go sweet I generally like a pecan or maybe almond roast.
Loved how fresh it was. Roasted on the first and arrived on the fifth. Excellent commitment to freshness. You keep that stuff up!!
3.5; smooth but seeking more pronounced coffee flavor
Not the best blend. Kind of one-note, couldn't taste a lot of the subtelties. Didn't hate it, didn't love it.
Love how smooth this is!
Makes for a really nice pour over
I love it!
Pretty good, wish it was fruitier.
very smooth cup of coffee
This one was great! Loved the medium roast
Nice blend. Slightly acidic. Good mouth feel
Very nice flavor profile, but a bit less full-bodied than we would have liked. Nice acidity and oil level.
a little weaker than I generally like, and it had a weird aftertaste.
I was surprised at how bright this blend starts out given the description. The chocolate shows up in the middle, but then finish is nonexistent. A very uneven taste from start to finish in my opinion.
Ok but with a tangy aftertaste. Would not order this again.
Liked it a lot. Lots of flavor, not too strong, not too bitter and not too burnt tasting. More like this please!
Smooth and rich! Love the chocolate finish and the way it makes my mouth feel. No bitter aftertaste
Tasting notes were spot on, and enjoyed the new experience. However, not a fan of the fruit forward cherry notes. I like the milk chocolate on the back end. Prefer more balanced than fruity or acidic profiles for mostly espresso drinking.
I liked the deeper notes that it has compared to the 8oclock coffee I have been drinking. Thanks!
The coffee was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm interested in something with more flavor.
Good but not outstanding. Prefer slightly richer flavors.
A little bland. I probably prefer a little darker. A bit spicier than I like.
A bit too bitter for our liking.
Dark chocolate Cherry.
A little lightly tasting for our tastes. I did enjoy the under tones of flavors though.
This was exactly as described. It came off smooth, roasty, and chocolatey. Made a great drip and even espresso.
This coffee is delicious! Finding it to be more flavorful at slightly lower temperatures, either waiting for it to cool a tad bit after a chemex brew, or straight out of my AeroPress.
Really nice taste. Very smooth! Perfect choice for me :)
I don't know much about coffee yet, but this made a great tasting cup of v60 pour over.
It's a good coffee, but I'm only getting the bittersweet chocolate notes, nothing else.
While overall, I would rate this one good, there was an aftertaste that felt off (a bit sour) and kept taking me out of the drinking experience. Also, the smell of the beans, both unground and ground, wasn't a typical coffee smell and was unpleasant at times. Again, these aspects didn't ruin my whole experience and I did think the brew was smooth with hints of chocolate. It was a nice rest stop off my usual coffee trail, but I'm not sure I would choose this one again for a long haul coffee.
Too acidic and fruity for my liking
I liked this coffee, it was a little on the sweet side, a little on the weak side, but the flavor overall was good.
Was just ok. Slightly weak tasting. Not a lot of flavor.
Enjoyed the hint of chocolate.
I did not care for this coffee. It is very mediocre. I will not buy this again.
Flavor developed ok from start to finish, but the end seemed to be a bit more drastic than the start. I guess you can say the middle notes did not help the transition of the top notes blend well with the body of the coffee.
Not really what I expected. Need more a dark French Roast.
Too acidic and bright.
Populace was good but I prefer a bit more robust roast. This was a bit on the brighter side of the flavor spectrum.
I think there was a little too much cherry with this one vs. being a little more chocolatey. Not bad but also not my favorite.
Nice bright cherry fruit and good balance but on the lighter side. Just a little too bright and thin for our everyday taste. Brewed with clever (hard to dial in) and french press (helped with body).
We thought it was a bit to mild. Like a richer favor
We liked it! I think it was a little on the light side.
We loved the smooth drinkability of this coffee. Was best prepared in our aero press rather than stovetop percolator. Great intro coffee to mistobox.
Loved this coffee!!
Had a nice cherry and chocolate aftertaste. I like the after notes to have stronger nutty flavor, like a hazelnut does.
This was a bit too fruity and sour for our taste.
exactly what i was looking for
Delicious! Pretty much spot on with what I like.
It's so good! Very light and I love the flavors
Enjoyed this house blend roast. Very smooth, no after bitter taste. I’d reorder this blend
Enjoyed this, just wasn’t my favorite.
I like how rich this coffee tastes! I definitely get the dark chocolate notes too.
Good chocolate notes
Nice and clean flavor, with a hint of citrus and a bold taste
I loved the deep, rich flavor of this blend.
Good choice for a first MistoBox purchase. We felt comforted by the familiar coffee flavors.
Overall a good cup of coffee. Nothing really stood out.
Great profile smooth non bitter
This coffee was wonderfully fragrant on the first cup with tangy floral notes. It had a lighter flavor than what I prefer and required a courser grind than usual for my pour over. Definitely a higher quality coffee, however, I prefer a bolder taste. Probably better with other forms of brewing coffee.
I like the chocolate and nut flavors. It is smooth and clean. Just a touch more acid than I like, but I am usually a dark roast drinker trying to expand my palate, so that's to be expected.
It tastes almost sour. This is what I generally get from coffees from Central and South America.
The first coffee that I thought was incredibly delicious was Kenya AA. I used to regularly go to a local coffee shop that brewed different single-origin coffees daily, and I found that the ones that I loved were all from Africa and the Asia-Pacific area: Kenya, Uganda,
This was a very solid first option. It was bright and complex, but I would say that it was distinctive in any of those flavor profiles mentioned. More like very solid.
Very smooth. Tasted wonderful, smelled just as good.
I really enjoyed this coffee. I was a little skeptical when I saw that it was a medium-light roast, but it is very smooth and has great flavor.
I really liked this. It was a little rich/bitter at first but overall it’s a really good coffee. I can taste that it’s quality- nothing like Folgers. And smells amazing. Thanks!
Really great flavor, actually got some fruity (maybe cherry?)-like notes in it also
Definitely could taste the chocolate! Get more dark than milk chocolate. Very good.
Great smooth flavor. No acid and taste.
We enjoyed this coffee a lot! Brewed it in a Chemex and it had a great aroma. Workhorse coffee pot also got a nice flavor out of it. This was our first mistobox coffee as we are re-developing our coffee palates. Great start!
We are enjoying it a lot
Was just ok. Did not like the chocolate note
Not a fan of this coffee. Not a cherry fan either.
It just good, not much character to it
Great flavor. Wish it was a little bit stronger coffee.
Tasted very fruity/sweet and we did not like it. Flavor was too overpowering. Probably will not finish this bag.
Amazing taste! Our favorite so far!
A nice, smooth, enjoyable coffee. Really picked up on the milk chocolate notes and found the lighter roast refreshing.
I liked this coffee, though it had a lingering sharpness to me.
Rich mellow flavor great breakfast coffee!!!
Really good every day drinker.
Was not a great fit for me, very light
Great flavor, but a little mild side for my usual brewing method (aeropress). I was able to get a little more out of it by changing the grind and using a Kalita Wave.
Literally threw most of it away. Tasted very odd, not like chocolate at all. Really have never had a coffee like this.
Would like to try a more full bodied coffee. This one was fruity but not really remarkable otherwise.
This coffee did not meet our flavor preferences. Too many green flavors. This is our least favorite of all coffees we have received and we did not finish the bag.
First order nothing to compare with but little too light for my preference.
Not as rich/deep or chocolatey as I'd expected. A bit more acidic than I prefer. Cherry notes but otherwise I didn't find it particularly distinctive.
It was a good blend, but I like a stronger taste in the blends. I couldn’t taste the blend that much.
Bland, burnt, meh.
Was a good coffee. I did not enjoy my first few cups; however, I began to appreciate the subtle notes of citrus and caramel the more I drank. I would like to experiment with this type of roast more.
I liked this one a lot!
Lighter than I am use to but good. 1st mistobox so have nothing else to compare it against so I can only give it 3 stars. Chocolate & nut flavors were present and delicious at the start of each cup, but disappeared into a normal average tasting coffee for the last two thirds.
Too weak. Not rich enough.
Too acidic for me.
Hit all the notes I was looking for, exactly what I want in a morning cup.
Over all good. the only down side was it was a little light for me.
This had something of a sour note that I didn't particularly like. There were a ton of papery flakes in the grind. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again.
I want to preface this review by saying I prefer medium to dark. I was expecting a medium roast, not a medium-light (more on the light side). However, this is still a very tasty coffee. Definitely a little nutty. Not bitter. Slightly sour and "bright". I bet it would be amazing made in a Chemex. I used an automatic drip, which IMHO does not do lighter roasts justice. Back to my previous point, still a tasty coffee. Just not my jam. Shout out to Bay City!
Good traditional coffee profile, but nothing that makes it super unique.
A little sour tasting. It got better with a coarser grind
Not as rich as I expected. Made with a Hario V60 at a 1:16 ratio. Did taste the rosted nuts.
Very nice, rich, smooth cup of coffee! Really enjoyed this one.
I would prefer something fuller bodied.
Enjoyed the coffee. That said, it seemed a little light would like something a little darker.
If you like a nice, gentle, chocolately wake-up coffee, this is an excellent choice. A tasty way to ease into the day.
I am a long time Dunkin Donuts medium roast original blend coffee drinker and I'm just now exploring other coffees. I brew my coffee a little on the strong side. For my taste, this coffee was a bit light. My wife preferred Populace House Blend over my usual strong brew of Dunkin Donuts. Next I'm going to try something described as bold.
Slightly fruity, smooth finish
Sadly, was not a fan of this brew. It was quite sweet and I guess I've discovered that the sweet flavor is not one I enjoy. That's the nice thing about this service - trying new coffees and experiencing different flavor profiles.
I really liked this one! Its a good rich flavor.
Smooth but tasted very syrup-y. I prefer the medium to darker blends.
great full-bodied, rich flavor
The nose is unimpressive and flat, would prefer something more aromatic. The taste and aftertaste are enjoyable though.
Lightly roasted very dense beans. Awesome flavor. Full bodied. Delicious as straight espresso. Thank you.
Smooth and chocolatey. I made a cold brew with it that is great.
I think this coffee is described perfectly. I would drink this coffee again and again. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because there are other coffees that I like more, including a different roast by the same company. However, after this is my second roast from Populace, I’m starting to feel like they might not make any bad coffee. I will continue to look for more and more roasts buy them.
This is the best coffee I've received via Mistobox in the last year, and would happy to see it again.
Really enjoyed this one. Tasting notes were as described, and the coffee was excellent.
Tasted burnt and smokey, like wood.
This is most favorite so far!
More like this one would be great
Low acidity, mildly sweet, not too rich. Love this blend!
Tasted like water no matter how much I tinkered with the grind size and ground to water ratio.
Nice balance but I prefer the flavors a little more pronounced and strong
Light, balanced cup. Similar to previous blend. I'd like to try something darker.
Love these beans! Full of dark chocolately flavor - really enjoyable cup of coffee each morning. Love that the flavor is bold and round without being overly acidic.
