The Southern Weather Blend was blended and roasted for you by Onyx Coffee Lab. The Southern Weather Blend features coffees from Colombia and Ethiopia. This combination of coffees create a profile that is familiar yet complex and sophisticated with notes of milk chocolate, plum, candied walnuts, and a juicy citrus acidity.
Excellent coffee! Has a good balance of coffee-ness and funkiness. Allowed me and my girlfriend both to enjoy it since she likes coffee that tastes like coffee and I like the fun stuff.
Delightful blend of fruity notes and chocolate. However, the citrus in the finish was a bit much
Rich, deep, complex, and flavorful. Chocolate with a hint of orange and a mild bright, juicy finish. Near perfect for a nascent spring espresso.
Great light-medium roast that centers on more of the chocolate/caramel profile with the citrus shining through at the finish. Great characteristics for what I would consider a great everyday pour over brew.
Pulled as an espresso according to the recommendation by Onyx on their website - 19g in, 40g out in 25 seconds. Love the flavor profile as straight espresso as well as small/medium size milk based drinks.
4.3 stars. This was really nice. Brewed in a Chemex with 34g of coffee and 500g of water. I liked that there was still some traditional-tasting coffee notes without being either too bitter or too winey/fruity. I could see drinking this in the morning or in the afternoon. I’m a little disappointed in the packaging - the outer box came pretty beat up inside the flimsy envelope which didn’t make it feel like as great an experience as it could have been, since the packaging looked really cool in the photo. Obviously, though, the beans are the most important thing though.
Great! Balanced, super drinkable, fruit notes without overwhelming acidity.
Fun citrus vibes. Yum.
I usually cycle through a few different roasters a month because I like to experiment. However, I've now ordered this about 8 times in a row because it's so good. A consistently rich experience that works beautifully via a V60 Pour-Over and also Immersion Dripper. Citrus? Check. Chocolate? Check. Literally a perfect balance. One of the best coffee's I've ever had.
Beautiful aroma from this one! My whole house got filled with it!
Very tasty, citrus and chocolate are noticeable on the top. I did a pour over at 28g to 500g, water temp at 185F.
Flavor didn't come through as much as I thought it would. Might try to adjust the grind slightly.
VERY subtle notes, I just was expecting more flavor from Onyx based on their accolades. Wasn't bad, just very basic.
Was super excited to try this since I love Onyx's roasts in general. This one just didn't live up to the hype. Flavors were very muted on this blend.
Not a lot of flavor as an espresso. Dry with chemex but taste citrus. Maybe lighter than I prefer
Excellent - very distinct flavor. Nice mix of earthiness and juicy
Really good coffee earthy and warm
Very fruity and juicy. I want to keep tasting lighter roasts. Though I kinda am craving dark roast now. This is the first time I have coffee from the onyx coffee lab. I would like to know if there are more available!
Multifaceted and delicious, this is one coffee I plan on revisiting again and again.
Good coffee a bit too acidic for me, meaning it lingers too long.
It was decently good
Brewed using Harvio v60, french press, and aero press, this is a really delicious coffee. I especially enjoyed the citrus finish. I couldn't really detect any chocolate or candied walnut notes however. Perhaps for the next coffee I'd prefer something with more pronounced chocolate notes.
I was curious how it was going to blend chocolate/citrus/juicy notes all into one and I wasn't impressed. Tastes more like a medium-dark roast with the chocolate flavors overpowering the rest.
Excellent flavor and really smooth. Chocolate and juicy balance is perfect! 7 Seconds on #5 coarseness setting - 2min steep with fine filter aeropress.
My go to coffee. Love the flavor of this coffee.
Just perfect. Nothing too fancy, medium light roast, chocolate aromatics, a slight tang without anything mouth puckering, no smoke but full bodied. Would drink any day as go to, for both me and my wife (prefer dark and light roasts respectively).
Delicious, layered flavors. Exactly as described.
We'll balanced with moderate acidity. Enjoyable to drink all day.
This is a favorite.
More of a 4.5 but am really enjoying this roast! Dark chocolate, nutty, and subtle dark fruit.
excellent coffee, as labeled good citrus finish
Very citrusy and juicy the whole way through.
Nice morning Coffee.
Not a big fan of this one. Bland flavor, no character. At least it doesn't taste burned.
Not a fan of the fruit blends.
Loved this coffee!
7/21: Made single cup with aeropress. Very smooth.
I found it a bit thin and I just don't like citrus flavors in my coffee. I think someone who like that citrus note would really like this coffee.
Nice balance of light, fruit and more toasty, chocolate flavors.
It's not anything crazy different but it is good and I like it
My fav so far
Great flavor. Really liked the level of acidity. My favorite so far.
A little darker than I am used to but I can appreciate the flavor.
Such a yummy cup. Rich chocolatey flavors, and a juicy finish. Love it!
It tasted bitter in a cold brew for the first few cups. Subsequent cups were better.
Once I got this dialed in, its been great.
Good with chocolate notes more than fruitiness.
Real solid, juicy & deep.
Really great coffee. Love how light and flavorful it is. Fruity and smells great. No bitterness.
When I first opened the bag I was not impressed, the beans seemed dry and the aroma was not impressive...but once I ground the beans and used my french press, fantastic cup of coffee! The citrus and chocolate is perfectly balanced with the baking spices.
Perfect cup to start the day! Brown sugar and fruit. Delicious!
This was solid.
Nice balanced. coffee. Bright notes. Willing to try another flavor profile. Mellow and lingering
One of our go-to coffees. We love what Onyx does!
Excellent flavors. Could use a bit more complexity.
This is a great blend. Smooth and slightly sweet. Lots of flavor.
Chocolaty sweetness, grapefruit finish, a nice breakfast blend.
Perfect flavor for palette. Could drink a whole pot!
I really love Onyx coffee. This blend lived up to its description. Great cup of coffee
It's a good cup of coffee! The citrus notes and the chocolate notes stick out. It has a good mouthfeel and is very forgiving. My brewing device that I used was a chemex. I did 27grams of coffee to 400 grams of water. I think I need to play with the ratio a bit to get a better cup.
This coffee is amazing, I love everything about it.. I could drink this every day, I will order it again and again! One of the best!
Nice even flavor, but not mind-blowing as expected from all of the hype.
This is straight up the best coffee I've ever brewed in my press. Yummy warm chocolate notes with a slight citrus finish. Amazing.
we really like this coffee. it was rich, complex and balanced.
Great blend and subtle but enjoyable flavor profile!
very smooth without bitterness
One of my favorite coffees to date. Every cup was incredible and I was sad when the bag was empty.
This coffee is good but a bit citrusy for my own personal taste. I was hoping some of the other flavor notes would balance the citrus but it was definitely the standout flavor note. I brewed with a chemex, so I may possibly try a different brew method and grind size to see if the flavor develops differently next time. Review edit: I picked up an Aeropress maker before I finished this bag. Big taste difference. I do believe this coffee had some lemonade notes, but in a good way once I had it through the Aeropress.
This is such a great coffee, might have been one of the few acidic coffees that I have no problems drinking at any time of the day off all methods of brewing.
I liked this in a chemex at higher ratios, but unless I got it just right, ended up a bit sour and somewhat heavy for me. The fruit flavors were there, but a bit covered up by the chocolate.
Balanced and very drinkable
Smooth cup. Full bodied but not overly bitter. Upfront hints of chocolate with nice very subtle fruity finish.
Solid good coffee but just OK.
Cocoa with a light juiciness and some citrus. Tasted good but nothing really stood out for me.
This is my favorite coffee ever.
Solid coffee. Nothing that stood out. I really wish that I would've tried cold brewing it. I feel like it might have been better suited to drink that way.
Really good! Smooth, really well balanced, and a very nice acidity! We liked it! :)
Just OK, didn't possess any strong flavor notes. Made me question if I'm brewing properly. I use the chemex & encore.
good, not great. not super complex, but nice
While this was good, it was much better for me as cold brew, and not as a drip brew coffee. I think I just prefer the richness of dark beans more. It may have been a tad too citrusy for my taste. I much preferred my first bag of coffee to this!
Fantastic coffee! I made it as an espresso and really enjoyed it.
yummmmmm made great cold brew
One of the bst coffees I have received. Super smooth with a ton of subtle flavors. Get a smooth chocolate flavor and ends with a nice, fruity acidity. Everything I like in a coffee.
Really well balanced blend as an espresso. Followed Onxy Lab's recommendation of 1:2.1 ratio at 25 sec. Sweet and nutty up front with a nice clean citrus finish.
