The Costa Rica Volcan Azul was carefully roasted for you by Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. This coffee was sourced from the West Valley in Costa Rica and was produced by Alejo Castro at 1,500-1,700 meters above sea level. Alejo and Volcan Azul produce four different preparations of coffee, however, this lot comes from their F.C.J. Volcan Azul, Grand Reserva line. These coffees come from a limited selection of exclusive micro and nano-batches of coffee that carry unique and exotic qualities. This particular micro-lot consists of 100% Caturra that was naturally processed.
This one did not make a strong immediate impression grew on me each morning. I found the cherry notes quite appreciable and went well with the chocolate. As the beans oxidized, it began to taste a bit like Norseman Grog - an old flavored coffee favorite.
Best coffee I have had in a year!!!
rich flavors, very tasty
it was labeled as an espresso coffee on the bag
I also live close to Bird Rock so I'd love non-Bird Rock coffees
A nice change of pace. Light, yet good coffee taste - tho combined with a lot of sweetness.
Great coffee, but tasting notes are not for me
Loved this both hot and pressed over ice
Light and tasty. Slight acidity and interesting character
My wife and I realized we may not be fans of light roasts, and may be hopelessly accustomed to the hearty flavor of mass-market coffees. This brew tastes more similar to an oolong tea than coffee - not bad as it’s own flavor, but it didn’t hit the spot when expecting the ‘coffee’ flavor in the morning.
Interesting, but not the amazing cup I was hoping for.
Loved the comforting desert flavors
A good cup, but nothing particularly stood out in flavors, some milk chocolate aroma in dry grounds
Very bitter and we didn’t like it.
Really, really, really good. First espresso was rather spectacular. Great balance with nice acidity.
