Shane
Dark, but we’ll roasted. No tomato-y notes like many medium-dark Kenya’s
3/19/2023

David
Delicious but not the best Kenya I’ve tried.
10/25/2021

Amanda
to light for my taste
5/14/2021

Rob
Citrusy
5/13/2021

CJ
I would drink this delightful coffee every day in 2021.

Adam
This was only so-so. I prefer something with more body.
2/10/2021

Christopher
We really loved this one -- great flavor that stayed strong for the entire pot.
1/31/2021

Matthew
Did not like the Floral tastes.
12/9/2020

Alison
I didn't like this coffee at all. It wasn't smooth. Perhaps it was acidic and bitter?
12/6/2020

Murray
Good, but not as good as the Ethiopian coffee I got 3 months ago. Realistically, it's more of a 3.5 star rating.
11/19/2020

Michael
This was ok but the other DCR we got was amazing
8/31/2020

Jason
Seems to be a very dark blend, not light or medium. No floral or citrus notes at all, or any distinctive flavor profile besides burnt. May be a quality control issue looking at other comments
8/25/2020

Bryan
Round of applause over this one. Hit with the guys at work!
8/11/2020

Chris
I liked it but didn't love it. I struggled to get this dialed in with my Kalita Wave and Rancilio Silvia.
4/19/2020

Zach
Very solid!
2/2/2020

Andrew
This time I got it, it tasted very different from last time. While last time it was light and floral, this time it tasted more burnt, more like Starbucks. Which was not what I like or was hoping for.
12/2/2019

Alan
Anything from east Africa has been a win. We seem to really like dcr too.
7/5/2019

Jorden
Nailed it on the description. Super tasty, def will get again.
6/29/2019

Erik
Too light, not a great aroma
6/28/2019

Scott
Solid cup of coffee with a good mouthfeel, but the citrus peel notes override the rest of the palatte, and leave the aftertaste tasting slightly acrid. Good stuff but I'd like to see a little more complexity and nuance.
5/10/2019

Melissa
I just don't care for citrus notes in my coffee. Someone who does would likely really enjoy this coffee. I gave it to my daughter.
4/30/2019

Dakota
Fantastic, top tier favorite
4/28/2019

Russ
I love everything about it. This is my absolute favorite coffee so far.
3/19/2019

Stevie
A perfect flavor for making afternoon espressos
2/25/2019

Tyler
Not a fan of the DCR roasts
11/23/2018

Dan
Not as light as described
11/11/2018

Jorge
Loved the citrus notes in this one!
10/31/2018

nathan
Tasted burnt. Based on taste the beans seemed over roasted. Not a good flavor and did not seem like a light roast.
10/23/2018

Jon
just average, would not order again
10/7/2018

Jonathan
We really enjoyed these beans. The floral and citrus notes are a nice combination that we could pick up on. This was our best bag yet.
9/8/2018

Amanda
It's a good middle ground coffee, nothing too crazy, but nothing too dull. I didn't get as much floral, but I did get some tang, similar to an orange peel, and I certainly got the juicy body. It released oils faster than the other coffees making it fade faster in flavor and quality.
8/30/2018

Thomas
Seems like more of a medium roast rather than a light roast.
8/19/2018

Andrew
Smooth with some citrus notes, but nothing special
8/5/2018

Karen
Just sort of boring to me
7/30/2018

Michael
Very Good! Smelled amazing. Tastes better. Well done and arrived fresh. Loved the juicy notes on it.
7/30/2018

David
excellent
7/10/2018

Andy
Absolutely fantastic. Really liked the citrus notes and felt like it was well balanced. Perfectly roasted as well and was excellent for my espresso machine
6/15/2018

David
This coffee is dope. I absolutely fell in love with it. The juiciness was amazing and accompanied by the floral tasting note it took the coffee to the next level. It took a few brews before I was able to dial it in well enough to really bring out the floral flavor. It definitely is my favorite coffee I've received in awhile. A beautiful cup from beginning to end. Dillanos killed it with this one!
6/12/2018

David
Loved this coffee so much. I really enjoyed the juicy quality along with the floral tasting notes. Just a great combination of my favorite things in a coffee.
6/12/2018

Tammy
We liked this coffee, but we were not happy that we received this coffee for a second time. I thought that this wasn't supposed to happen.
5/26/2018

David
This was a fantastic coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed every drop!
5/19/2018

Kyle
This coffee was roasted too darkly. I’m not getting any fruit notes — just the acrid char.
5/14/2018

Jesse
Super Bitter no matter how it is brewed.
5/9/2018

Amy
Not very interesting. Definitely did not get 'floral' or 'citrusy' notes from this. Seemed like a basic decent coffee.
5/6/2018

Westin
Felt like it had more bitter, burnt flavors than the others we've tried.
4/21/2018

Cindy
Outstanding coffee! Best I've ever tasted
4/15/2018

Deborah
If I liked the floral and citrus notes, I would have loved this coffee. I liked it even though I don't care for those notes. Excited to try the Mission Ridge coffee next!
4/12/2018

John
a little too floral in taste for our liking but still well balanced overall
3/31/2018

Nancy
Too bitter and underwhelming for my tastes.
3/30/2018

Austin
super good stuff with above average char and aromats
3/11/2018

Chirag & Uma
The bag described this as a light roast but it was definitely more medium-dark roast. The flavor was ok, but I didn't get any of the floral notes that were supposed to be there despite trying a number of different brew methods.
3/8/2018

Levi
Just not that impressed
3/1/2018

Joe
Surprised at how much I enjoyed this bright coffee. Just the right balance of light citrus and the notes deep black tea. Perfect for early spring mornings.
2/26/2018

Micaela
One of my favorites of all time. The flavor notes are so balanced yet complex. It's smooth and has a great aftertaste.
2/19/2018

Michael
Loved it.
2/5/2018

Paul
Decent coffee, but I found it too bright and citrus-y for my liking, especially in machiatto/cortado format...
2/1/2018

JOSH
I've never thought of a cup as "juicy" like this Dillanos is described, but that's a great way to put it. While this was a bit darker than I thought it would be, I like that I can steep a bit longer to get a more robust cup, or shorten for more subtleties. For me, while there is a bit of floral note, I don't notice it too much unless I shorten the steep. I do like the hint of citrus. Out of the 3 beans I've received thus far, this is my fave. Didn't expect to like it this much given the roast (as others have noted, it isn't as light roast as advertised).
1/30/2018

Duane
Very nice coffee, good floral afternotes.
1/30/2018

Robert
Really enjoying this one. I think it is the floral and citrus. I saw tea like used to describe it at one point and it is not a wrong assessment. I will agree the roast is more of what I would think of as a medium roast, but since medium roasts are my comfort zone it was excellent!
1/20/2018

Barry
I liked this citrusy but with balance
1/12/2018

John
This coffee is definitely not something I enjoy and it wasn't as advertised. It's definitely a dark roast (probably full city or full city+) into second crack. There were a lot of "roasted" notes in the coffee which took away from what I would assume is a very complex bean. SL-28 has been wonderful in the past and I was really looking forward to this coffee. It's sad that the roast was too dark to discern any sort of complexity other than some sweetness. It was not floral, citrusy, or juicy. In fact the mouthfeel was fleeting and the coffee smelled/tasted nutty/chocolatey
1/2/2018

Adam
Really didn’t like this one. Not sure I can put my finger on exactly why. Flavor was not enjoyable.
1/1/2018

Emon
Great the first time, but too dark the second time and it came VERY late. Will not get shipments from Dillanos again
12/30/2017

Derek
The bag said it was a light roast, but given how easily the beans buckled under a hand grinder and how bitter the finish on a cooler brew came out, it's definitely on the darker side of medium. Needs to be brewed longer and hotter for a sweeter, more balanced cup, but you end up losing many of the subtle floral notes. People who prefer dark roasts will enjoy this more than those who prefer lighter ones.
12/29/2017

annette
this beans roasts with a strong black tea note but as the cup of coffee cools to room tempt it lessens and has a smoother taste
12/26/2017

Caitlin
Loved how light and floral this tasted. Excellent coffee for the afternoon. Favorite flavor profile so far.
12/15/2017

Daniel
Coffee was not lightly roasted and much closer to medium or darker. Really bad aftertaste. Definitely can taste the citrus notes, but overall one of the worst Kenya's I've had. Dillanos is not my favorite roaster as they tend to over roast everything.
12/4/2017

Connor
Not my favorite. Flavor was usually weak on most cups I brewed. Not enough of a classic coffee taste. Fruit notes came through a bit too much to the point of making a sour cup of coffee.
12/2/2017

Nick
Brewed using the same Chemex method as the others, great flavor and taste. Enjoyed this one.
12/2/2017

Jacob
The variation in reviews make me wonder if there's an issue with consistency on this product. Despite the bag describing a light roast, the flavor, aroma, and appearance is more medium-dark. Lacking in the citrus and juicy flavors advertised. Brew:Kalita Wave.
11/28/2017

Joelle
So fruity, and still a bit nutty and cozy! It's the kind of coffee that made me fall in love with coffee! Loveeeeee!
11/18/2017

Lorin
I don't like this coffee at all. It smelled very nice when opening the bag but once brewed it is too dark for my preference and very bitter. the 'tea' flavor is not something I would ever look for when choosing a coffee.
11/4/2017

William
Concur with the description, nice flavor.
11/3/2017

PC
The roast is perfect, but for my own taste, I would prefer stronger berry in my fruit profile. This one also had a pretty strong floral note on the front end that isn't my favorite. Its not a bad coffee, so 3 stars may not be super fair. The 3 stars are more indicative of my preferred tastes and not as much about the quality of the coffee.
11/1/2017

Brittany
Very smooth, I love the flavors of this roast!
11/1/2017

Lucy
Definitely not light or medium roast. I use a hand grinder and the beans felt so soft. Tasted terrible with pourover and okay with aeropress. I've stopped drinking it after forcing myself to try it for 2 weeks. Might make it into cold brew.
10/17/2017

Ryan
sharp and a little floral but not overly so. good aftertaste, smooth.
10/3/2017

Jason
Still a quality coffee, but not to my liking. Just a little to bold.
9/30/2017

Jack
Good strength and taste but a little underwhelming
9/23/2017

Christopher
This coffee I really enjoyed. It was very smooth and light on the tongue. Did not linger and has a fantastic scent. I appreciate the subtle notes of flavor throughout it.
9/20/2017

TJ
It's definitely darker than advertised. I brewed it in a chemex, Kalita and French Press. The press gave me the best result. I had fun playing with the ratios on this coffee. The smallest changes produced different results.
9/19/2017

Nick
Just ok, didn't blow me out of the water. Clearly a good coffee but wasn't my cup of tea.
9/18/2017

Janelle
Nice and strong coffee
9/15/2017

Michael
Very good, floral without being too fruity/light
9/14/2017

Jonathan
Very fruity and almost sweet. Perfect if you like sharp
9/10/2017

Botaem
It was decent. The taste was best when I made a batch of Cold Brew.
9/4/2017

Derek
Enjoyed the smoothness and lightness of this brew. Definitely aimed more toward my style of a flavor profile.
8/16/2017

John
Adjusted brew method a few times but couldn't get this to a taste of our liking.
8/14/2017

Mark
I can taste the black tea note but that's about it. The bag says this is a light roast but this is borderline medium/dark roast in color.
8/13/2017

Justin
I love the fruit notes in this coffee, and it's one of the best smelling coffees I've ever had!
8/11/2017

Charles
I wouldn't say that it's awful, however it does not have a coffee profile or mouth feel at all. I definitely get "black tea", so much so that in a blind taste test, I would probably think that it was actually tea.

I would rate it as 'meh' but there was no roasting date on the bag, and the bloom wasn't much either...so maybe this was an old bag?
8/10/2017

Rajath
This coffee is just bad. The different notes they say this has just don't come out when it's been brewed. There's a certain flavor (maybe black tea?) that completely overwhelms the others. Would not get this again, and would not recommend the bag if you light light, floral/citrus coffees.
7/29/2017

Connor
A little bland, had a harder time centering the brew.
7/27/2017

James
Couldn't find a grind setting that didn't make this taste bitter or sour. It's also a very bright cup, which doesn't check the boxes for us in terms of a morning cup to go along with breakfast.
7/23/2017

Sharon
meh
7/21/2017

Johnathon
To the nose and eye it looked like a roast I would love, but once it hit the cup it had a slightly darker note than preferred. Decent coffee.
7/21/2017

Julian
Overall, we give Dillanos Kenya coffee 3.5/5 stars. We preferred our first coffee (Anodyne Colombia Tolima) when comparing it to the Dillanos Kenya coffee. Our main criticism of the Dillanos Kenya coffee was that it was very light bodied. We brewed the coffee by French press and pour over, but the flavors were pretty similar for both brewing methods. The Dillanos Kenya was good, but we've had much better coffee in the past.
7/18/2017

Michael
Great coffee. Consistently good pour-overs made with this batch.
7/14/2017

Troy
Not into it. I've had a few cups that have been decent, but over all not enjoying the bag. There is a flavor that I cant put a finger on that is overpowering and not very enjoyable. :(
7/10/2017

Tyler
Probably the best of the shipments so far! Really loved the citrus in it and it was one of the best coffees I have brewed through my Aeropress. Thanks!
7/7/2017

Bhavish
I liked part of this coffee, but It's a little too tea-like for my taste. Entirely personal preference, but a reference nonetheless
7/5/2017

Jim & Jenna
Tasted bitter...not at all pleasant to drink. Tried different brewing methods, but this one always came up short.
7/4/2017

Matt
Not a big fan of this one.
7/3/2017

Peter
I was shocked when I opened this bag. The beans are listed as light roast, and they are absolutely what I would consider dark. I'm down with the listed flavor profile, but not dark like this.
7/1/2017

Andrew
It wasn't bad but it didn't blow my socks off.
6/25/2017

Rick
OK, coffee, smooth, but not one of my favorites.
6/20/2017

Christopher
This is delicious! Thank you!
6/20/2017

Jason
The grapefruit aroma pervades this. It took some experimentation with brewing to find my preferred- full contact is the way to go, either French Press or Aeropress.
6/11/2017

Ben
Just a bit too light for me, I think. The notes are more sweet with not quite enough bitter in them.
6/7/2017

Jessica
Loved it!
6/5/2017

Chuck
Much smoother than the previous Kenyan (Entimos).
5/23/2017

Andrew
This was very smoothe. I loved the fruit notes!
5/22/2017

Peter
Not as good as other Kenya but still good. Bright and fresh tasting.
5/19/2017

John
Enjoyed this coffee. Nice floral notes and juicy texture. I thought the flavors could have popped a little more, but YMMV.
5/18/2017

Chandler
This was roasted misleadingly darker than I'm used to. Had to cut back on my ration because it was so bitter. Had a decent flavor.
5/15/2017

Paul
I forget the flavor profile but I remember this one just being ok.
5/12/2017

Stefan
just good, nothing really impressive.
5/8/2017

Steven
Very light and refined. Low acidity and makes for a perfect cup to start the day without being overpowering.
5/7/2017

Jonathan
This coffee was not fresh and tasted as if it was sitting on a shelf for a while.
5/4/2017

Brian
Tastes too much like tea more than a coffee
4/26/2017

David
This is a really nice coffee. It's very bright tasting, with a clear citrus note. Flavor is more distinct than my usual KenyaAA from Trader Joe's. I didn't need to increase strength like with the first choice, and it works well unsweetened, black with Xyla natural sweetener, and with a bit of cream. In all situations, the citrus and bright flavor comes through. Juicy is not one of my coffee words, but I can see how it might be used to describe this coffee. I would give 4.5 stars, but that's not possible. I always like to leave something in reserve, but we're closer to a 5 than a 4.
4/24/2017

Ryan
Just fantastically juicy! Love this in every way!
4/8/2017

Michael
Definitely noticed the floral flavors. A good cup of coffee.
3/29/2017

Gener
This coffee is good, but I still like the Ethiopia Misty Valley better. When I get a new roast, I have been drinking side by side with the previous coffee to compare the differences. My initial thought so far is that this has a bolder taste compared to the Ethiopia Misty Valley. I am noticing the juicy mouthfeel.
3/13/2017

Dan
Very fruity notes upfront, then followed by a nice chocolatey finish. Very good cup of coffee!
3/12/2017

Ben
This was a nice roast. The aroma was a little misleading... almost sour smelling but it tastes quite nice. i like the floral flavors
2/20/2017

Steve
Good but too dark for me.
2/18/2017

Tom
very good, good body
2/14/2017

Jessica
The flavor of this one is mediocre to me. I probably wouldn't buy it ever again it just didn't really make an impression on me. It was better cold over ice than it was hot.
2/14/2017

Mary
A bit too floral for me
2/12/2017

Shannon
This was smooth but some complexity of flavor. It has a nice toasty smell and flavor without being too heavy. Overall, nice balance.
2/10/2017

Rob
a little roasty, but great flavors
2/10/2017

Jay
Tasted like quality coffee, it was just high quality coffee that I didn't like unfortunately. I think maybe it was too light of a roast for me.
2/10/2017

Arlene
This was to weak for me. I prefer one that has more of a coffee flavor to it'
2/9/2017

David
Juicy is a great description of this coffee. May be my favorite coffee to date from Mistobox. It has the balance that I can enjoy over the entirety of the bag.
1/29/2017

Ryan
It's ok for a change of pace, but something about the kenya's doesn't sit so well with my wife's stomach.
1/18/2017

Scott
Pretty good. Nice citrus element and was very smooth.
1/8/2017

Sebastian
I found this coffee quite juicy. The black tea flavor was not always my favorite, but I didnt mind. I found out that the temperature of the water was really important, specially with this coffe - hot water brings some kind of bitterness to it-
1/1/2017

Benjamin
Very well-balanced coffee. Very slight hints of citrus and chocolate.
12/18/2016

Stephanie
Breaths and notes were brightly perfect and balanced. First sips and aftertaste were a turnoff. It was not bad, just not our type of ideal cup. Drank it anyways, still tiers above and beyond what they sell commercially.
12/16/2016

JJ
The roaster labeled this as a light roast, by most standards this is not a light roast. It is however a medium to dark medium. Once I dialed in the grind setting I started to get the good flavor notes. I had to go for a more coarse grind for a faster brew and the dark bitter taste went away. I had the same experience as an espresso. In an espresso shot the lemon flavor came out. All in all not a bad bean just not my favorite and I wouldnt want it again.
12/13/2016

Benjamin
This coffee did not live up to my expectations. I felt like it did not match its roasting profile at all. It seemed to be over-roasted, with an almost burnt like flavor. I tried brewing using multiple methods, Bonavita Drip, v60, French Press, but none really brought out any of the sweet or juicy flavors that I was expecting. I tend to love Kenyan Coffees, but this one did not do it for me.
12/8/2016

Jaclyn
Bright, great flavor, no bitter after taste.
12/3/2016

Israel
Was over roasted, although it say its light it was a really dark and bitter taste.
11/21/2016

Kaelin
When i drank this coffee, i didnt feel like it was very bold in its flavors. My tongue isnt the best at picking up notes and the hints of coffee, so i typically need a more full bodied bean. I forgot to mention that, but now you know for future reference. I like beans that make coffee that i can still taste a minute after taking a sip. Something where the flavor just sits on the tongue.
11/17/2016

Andrew
Not fantastic. Took a long time to get a satisfactory cup out it - and even then it was just OK. No roast date on the bag, which is suspicious.
11/15/2016

Peter
Not my favorite, but not bad. A little on the mild side.
11/10/2016

Luis
I didn't like this coffee as much as the first one I got. I couldn't really taste much of the flavor it had.
10/31/2016

Brian
Very good.

This was an average Kenyan coffee. Taste was a bit muddled overall. It claims to be single origin on the package but gives no other details on the packaging about what region of Kenya its from. Also there's no roast date so I have no idea how long it's been stored since it was roasted.

We definitely liked this one for the juicy dark fruit and black tea character. It has been a soft and round cup that my husband loves.

That's my jam! Beautiful, bright cup with a full bouquet and crisp citrus notes in the front, giving way to a wonderfully robust middle with rich notes of cherry. Excellent acidity level and a nice, light and smooth mouth-feel, typical of a well processed, washed Kenyan bean. Roast is absolutely perfect. Pairs really well with fruits. But, surprisingly, not that well with chocolate, as it drowned out the citrus for me. Pourover brew at 16:1 by weight. 100sec bloom and ~5min total brew time. Rinsed paper filter with med-fine burr grind.

Strawberry, citrus peel and tea.. enjoyed

Not bad. A little too light and citrus. I prefer a darker roast usually (not always though).

Coffee tasted a bit overroasted. More bitter than citrus. Great aroma smell but taste okay. Maybe better batch next time.

Mouth feel is great and full bodied. This is a great coffee.

This one wasn't our favorite.

A great cup! Pour over brewed on Hario V60.

High quality coffee that I just couldn't really get into. Not sure why.. Didn't taste like a light roast.. and I never really got the citrus or tea like vibe from it..You can tell its a nice coffee just not my bag.

This brew has a very pungent taste to it. It tastes more like a dark roast to me than a medium to light roast. Not my favorite so far but still nice.

At first taste I wasn't a huge fan, but it has started to grow on me. I'm still convinced that the citrus notes are not my favorite.

This coffee is incredible. It has an unusually bold flavor for a coffee that is so light. Love it!

This was good but I like sweeter coffees with more fruit flavor.

This coffee kicks ass. No complaints here!

Very nice flavors overall, however seems to be excessively bright and acidic. About one cup a day is enough.

Coffee seams to have a sour taste when I used it for drip coffee. As suggested from previous review, this coffee shines when it is used in an aeropress.

Very good. The second best coffee that I've been sent, next to the Sidamo.

Taste like a grocery store brand like Community Coffee.

I did enjoy this coffee. The initial smell really got me excited, but I never could quite get the right flavor of the notes in my mix whether through drip, french press, or aeropress. It was a little acidic as well, but not so much so that it was off-putting. I would say that it was enjoyable, but probably just middle of the road for me.

Was a bit soft in taste. It has a good fruity taste as soon as you sip, but when you keep drinking it seems like something's missing. It was not one of my favorites.

Nice and light, a good aeropress coffee for me

I had a hard time rating this - its a little lighter than I normally drink, and maybe a little too acidic for me, but there are some days where I really like it and some days where its not what I'm in the mood for. For what it is, its really good - its just not what I want every day.

Decent cup, but a little weak. The citrus hits the tip of the toungue and you're like, "ya! I like where this sip is headed." That's about it though. The rest of the cup tells you "I'm good," not great. It'd be nice to have that citrus complimented by a strong toffee or chocolate profile. Not really an African profile though, I know. Credit where credit is due; I brewed the whole bag and enjoyed it.

Very smooth for a light roasted coffee. I was afraid it would be too acidic/tart, but I was very surprised. The clean finish is also very nice. Great pick!

Fantastic! Would drink every day for the rest of my life.

Excellent taste; lighter than normally drink but very good

A little light for my taste, but wife likes it a lot.

The coffee was yummy. Very bright. I found the acidity a little too much for my taste at times. It was still an excellent cup.
