Description
The Phantom Limb Blend was carefully roasted for you by Huckleberry Roasters. This is Huckleberry's seasonal blend that rotates throughout the year to highlight wild, fruit forward flavors. It changes components frequently and therefore, each version is a little different than the last. This blend is currently comprised of two Ethiopian offerings, one naturally processed and one washed. These coffees play off of each other to create a unique cup full of vibrant citrus, juicy berries, floral aroma and a subtle cocoa finish.

Makes a good cup of coffee. I like my coffee a little strong, so I have to use a fine/ medium fine grind to get the taste that I desire. But, I don’t mind. It’s still good.

Objectively not a bad coffee, just not my preference and not something I'd get again. Too fruity and bright for me. I did get strong hits of blueberry while brewing. Method: Pour Over; 16:1g ratio; 205 degree water.

Had a real hard time coaxing flavor out of these beans. Upped the beans/water ratio by 33%, then went to a smaller grind and finally could taste it.

I enjoyed this one overall, but I think I liked the Espresso Proper from Populace a bit more than this and maybe I favor a slightly lighter roast? I like the citrus notes more than the strong berry I got from Phantom limb. I'm excited to try the darker Essence from Alma this week to see if my light roast preference stays true.

This is a very complex blend. You can get a wide range of flavors out of it depending on your pour/temp/grind. I've gotten a great citrus in one cup all the way to a very unique sweet strawberry cream.

New to this coffee experience and just comparing the two that I have received so far; I really enjoyed the Huck Phantom Limb over the Day Tripper. So I am assuming my pallette prefers the fruity/citrus blends. No bitterness and was so smooth. Loved it!

Once I figured out a good consistency (2 TBS per 4oz) this coffee hit the spot. I’m a huge fan of coffees originator, Ethiopia, and this did not fail.

For my tastebuds, this was an okay blend. I can certainly taste both the citrus and cocao, but it wasnt too appealing for me. I like both flavors independently, but this blend tasted like the two flavors took away from each other rather than playing off each other well. I appreciate trying this, though! I signed up for Mistobox to experience new flavors like this! Thank you!

As a half natural, this is a very fruit forward and floral coffee. A little out of balance with how strong the natural beans are and I found myself adding to the coffee to try and subdue the brightness.

Maybe too much Starbucks and peet's has damaged my coffee taste buds towards a delicate coffee. I could not adjust to to this

I really liked this roast. It wasn't too strong tasting. Unfortunately, I have been thinking about this for a long time...I don't know how to describe my tastes in complex products. For example, I know what wine I like, but I can't tell if I'm tasting fruity, oaky, dry, etc. The one thing I can tell is how sweet something is, therefore I do not like white zinfindel. But, I don't know what the specific blended tastes are in the wine. Back to coffee, I have never sat down and drank coffee in a flight with someone explaining them to know whether I like chocolately, fruity, or nutty.... I love nuts, especially hazelnut! I like chocolate when combined with nuts, but not alone, therefore I do not eat plain chocolate bars, chocolate ice cream, or chocolate mousse. I do not like fruity wines or fruity pies or a lot of fruit compote/jelly. BUT, I absolutely love this coffee and can't get a enough of it and it says its fruity/citrus/bright. I'm stumped for now.

This is the first coffee that I've had that I actually enjoyed drinking black. It works really well with my French press. I could even detect the fruity notes they talk about.

I enjoyed this coffee - both with and without creamer. The roast was just right - on the lighter side which I prefer. It had a smooth taste with a fruity after taste. I would consider this a dessert coffee also.
I brewed this coffee in a drip pot set on medium drip using about 1T grounds per generous cup of water (8 oz). I will use a little more grounds (or less water) next pot to see how the coffee tastes.

I am still new to coffee connoisseurship (or connoisseur anything really), but I do recognize this as "Ethiopian" in flavor, which I really like for a change of pace, and I thought this was a very good Ethiopian coffee. (I'm just leaving room for better in the 5 stars in case something wows me.)

I enjoyed the acidity and the blueberry notes, which makes it interesting and different. The beans were fresh and well roasted. I recently noticed a change in the taste of the beans (more bitter) after a week but it may be too early to tell.

The flavor, while unique, feels more appropriate to a tea than it is a coffee. The fruit/earthy flavors overpower any coffee taste. I would prefer something more "coffee," especially first thing in the morning. The wife complained of an aftertaste as well, though I did not notice this.

Delicious, almost floral, definitely bright and smooth. A step above the usual breakfast blends but perfect in the morning with any kind of food. Adding milk/cream brought out the fruit flavors which was almost like a desert.

Tons of Ethiopian style blueberry on the nose and on first sip. A touch of lemon as it cooled, but this one is all about the berry flavor. The coffee finishes sweet, but a bit flat. I wish the citrus lingered a bit longer. Pleasant to drink, but I wish it had more depth.

Hard to rate since it was the first bag with not much else to compare to from mistobox yet, but it was a good cup of coffee. I do appreciate that it was a Colorado roaster that is local to us. That is definitely of interest to our household.

I've made 2 cups so far, I really like this coffee. Smooth, juicy fruit flavors. This is not a flavored coffee though as someone else said in their review. It is a sweeter coffee. I really love this, now I understand all the postive reviews. I would order this kind again too. I love Mistobox, glad I found this great website. I love amazing coffee and it's all in one spot! Coffee brings me so much comfort every morning, I can't live without!

Went out on a “limb” trying this one. Ended up going about how I thought it would. Not a bad cup of coffee, just too acidic and sweet for my tastes. It was cool for the first cup or 2, but after that it got old.

This is a fantastic coffee! I've had others from this company and it does not disappoint. The fruit smell actually wafted over me as soon as the box was opened! The tasting description is spot on, citrus smell and acidic zing, fruity flavors with a subtle but quite distinct chocolate finish. This is one of the best coffees I've had. I'd be happy drinking this daily for years. Would rate 6 stars if possible.

Juicy taste with lots of berry and floral. Medium mouthfeel. I prefer a darker, richer coffee but this is still quite good. If you really like a medium coffee with lots of fruity flavors, this is the coffee for you!

Phantom Limb Blend lives up to its promise: accessible, balanced, and fruit-forward. Milk chocolate conveyed on a medium body is balanced with keen yet soft notes of watermelon and strawberry making it both (relatively) approachable for the casual sipper and rewarding for the connoisseur. It's listed berry flavors are intended to "shine with milk or without." I tried a pour over with cream, and the result is amazing. Cream doesn't augment the quality, or diminish it; it takes it to another dimension. With milk it is its own new animal, delightful and rollicking. Specialty coffee house blend indeed. It rocks as a doppio espresso, highlighting the same qualities that shine as a drip. But as a latte the flavors kind of disappear in the milk, resulting in a beverage more akin to a flavored steamer than a latte.

I got a lot of caramel on the flavor and it was very approachable and bright. Good flavors. I think it might have been a 5 if it had a slight bit more bite to it. Maybe I would like something with a touch more roast? Not sure.
