Coffee Story
Description
This is the Mokha Java Organic Blend brought to you by Noble Coffee Roasting. 'Mokha Java' was the first blend ever created. Coffee originated in Arabia and was first sold through the port of 'Mokha' in Yemen; the 'Mokha' in this blend is an Ethiopian coffee, adding notes of fruit and cocoa. Coffee was then cultivated in Indonesia and shipped out through the island of 'Java'; the 'Java' in this blend is a Balinese coffee, which gives deeper tones of earth and spice. The result is a marriage between the brightness of Africa and the depth of Indonesia - in the cup it is a very dynamic, yet balanced, coffee. Try this as cold brew or iced coffee when the temperatures rise and you are looking for something to sip over ice.

Nataliya
Smells amazing out of bag but flavors don’t extract well, the only prominent note in French press is chocolate.

Lee
Bold, earthy with baking spices. A little too bold though - tastes a bit over-roasted.

Rob
Very good

Excellent! Smooth and flavorful.

This was really good. It was on the darker side for a medium but was still quite good.

2nd time ordering it and still good. Would look to mix in similar coffees.

Eh. It’s good coffee, but not loving the taste. It’s me, not Noble.

Justin
One of the best ever

Very subpar

Chocolate, fruity, all-spice. Nice, full mouthfeel. Not too acidic.

I really didn't like this one which is so rare. It smelled bad when I ground the beans, like really bad. It tasted a little better than it smelled, but it's not something I would ever want again. I'm not even sure how to describe the smell or taste.
4/8/2018

Todd
gave me a headache.

Nothing seamed out of ordinary for me. It was Smokey in flavor, and made me think of rustic cowboy coffee made in one of them old percolators next to a camp fire in the morning or night.

Packs a punch. Wonderfully complex. No need for cream or sugar or other flavor, though I do use a little bit of milk to temper the flavor.

I was not overwhelmed with the aroma straight out of the box, which I thought would not bode well. However, I was delighted when I took my first sip and found it to be not just flavorful, but also smooth and utterly drinkable.

I get notes of cinnamon, cacao nibs, smoke, and green woods.

I'm starting to think I will need to up my grinder game to really unpack all the flavors. My little Bodum blade grinder produces a subpar, uneven grind. I would probably also fair better with a more sophisticated brewing method, but, honestly, my drip Mr. Coffee is the most convenient for mornings.

One of the best smelling coffee's I can remember. I get an abundance of dark cherry, which is certainly interesting and unique, but not necessary my thing.

Sarah
I liked it. :3

This coffee is not bad. A little heavy on the cocoa flavor to me.

Richard
This is my kind of coffee :)

Tatyana
very mild and flavorless

I have no major complaints. The coffee was delicious. It was flavorful while still being fairly smooth. There was no "wow" factor to make me keep coming back to it, but that doesn't mean it was a bad coffee by any means.

Jessica
This one was ok. I liked it better than what I got last month but not as much as the 1st bag I ever got.
3/25/2017

Cheryl
Balanced and very flavorful.

Mokha Java Is a bit too spicy and dynamic for my palate. It's a nice smooth blend but the spice at the end is a bit much for me.

Chris & Sara
The coffee itself seems like a okblend, however the main complaint is the fact the bag was not sealed and exposed to air since it was roasted. Upon tasting, the coffee had more bitter notes and really not much taste besides that. It definitely lacked the brightness in the description. Not a fan of this one. 1000 faces coffee, the one shipped before this, is by far the winner. I wouldn't mind getting the 1000 faces Aldo blend, or others from the same roaster, for the remainder of the subscription.

I would say that the Mokha Java wasn't as exciting as the Day Tripper (which is still my favorite so far), but it wasn't bad. I could definitely taste the hints of fruit and cocoa which were good, but again not overwhelmingly amazing. I don't think the coffee was either acidic or sour so that was good! I think the color of the bean was a bit darker than I would typically enjoy which is interesting because I've never really thought about the color of the bean before. I hope that helps. However, all the coffees that I've been sent are a million times better than my regular grocery store coffees and it's been a great experience so far! Can't wait to see what comes next!

Sherry & Jon
nice flavor but just short of great.

We did not like this as well as the Mexican Sicobi. I'm not sure I'd say acidic or bitter, but it kind of has a "bite" on the tongue on first sip. At the same time, however, it doesn't feel as rich on the tongue. It also did not have the great aroma of the Sicobi. Probably a slightly darker roast than we prefer.

Wendy
Right out of the bag the beans had a strong roasted aroma! This carried through to the taste. It was neither acidic or sour and not too strong. Was a rich and smooth cocoa flavor I like.
1/29/2017

Elizabeth
This coffee was good and strong -- dark, with a lot of little flavors tracking through it.
1/28/2017

Jessica
I like how it was full bodied but it was a bit bitter

Betty
This is a tasty brew. Rich, flavorful and the freshly ground beans smell so good!

Amazing cocoa flavors

Now this is the coffee I've been waiting for! When I first opened the package I noticed the dark color of the beans, and knew this was a coffee that was going to be a little more geared towards my preferences. I was a little skeptical when I read the tasting notes, especially the cherry and clove notes, but after the first sip this coffee blew my prejudice out of the water. As soon as this coffee hits your palate it has the same fruity and creamy flavor of a chocolate covered acai berry. The fruit doesn't overpower the cocoa notes, but it's still noticeable. The finish brings the coffee back to its dark and roasty roots. Surprisingly, I love the fruity textures in this coffee, which is saying a lot because I usually stay away from fruity coffees. But this balance with fruit and dark is absolutely perfect. Well done, that's all I have to say. Plus the fruity flavors at the beginning make me feel like I'm stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit when it comes to dark coffee!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! I really enjoyed this one. It really was a perfect combination of brightness and complexity. Really enjoyed the notes of chocolate and fruit. This roast was a huge improvement from the last one.
10/29/2016

Utpal
Bold and earthy. Though not as smooth as some of the other coffees.
10/19/2016

Shao-Yun
Brews amazingly with pour over method. Very well balanced. Would recommend to those who prefer blends. But liked the previous coffee more than this shipment.

Michael
A solid cup of coffee that worked really well with several brewing methods including drip cone, Eva Solo, and French Press. Full bodied Moka blend.
8/27/2016

Christopher
I really enjoyed this coffee (French Press - Black). Had a very nice, rich, buttery flavor that ended in a light subtle fruity note.
8/19/2016

Maggie
Not nearly as special as some of the other coffees I've been provided.
8/9/2016

Lance
I really liked the chocolate/cherry undertones. It was just subtle enough to be enjoyable without being an overpowering flavor. One of my favorites!
8/8/2016

Stanley
Good flavor. I may have made a little bit strong, but it as a very nice blend.
7/4/2016

James
Slightly bitter but, overall, a pretty good coffee.
6/27/2016

Roy
This. This is some goodass coffee.
6/16/2016

Gavin
nice balance between the darker flavors and the complex undertones.
4/27/2016

Christine
After taste far too bitter
4/6/2016

Keiske
In general, medium-light roast that is a bit chocolatey and a bit spicy. As a PRESS, it smells and tastes sour, lightly coats the mouth and is lightly cinnamony/spicy. Add milk and sugar, and it zips away the sour, and brings out some caramel and coats the mouth more. As a POUROVER, it becomes a bit bland, and though still a bit spicy, comes out fairly flat, regardless of M

Omkar
nice and smooth cup
11/17/2015

David
Slight burnt smell to the beans. Too bitter.
9/10/2015

Nikki
I think this was a bit too dark for me.
9/8/2015

Rachel
I expected a chocolate syrupy cup and that is exactly what this delivered. Super sweet, dessert in a mug, without any lingering bitterness.
8/30/2015

Sage
The sweet taste at the end of a sip wasn't overdone but perfectly put in, which made really love this blend.
8/19/2015

Shannon
bitter tasting
8/8/2015

Tamara
Really liked this one. Bold flavors that were so smooth. No bitterness and the flavor was consistent from start to finish.
8/5/2015

Travis
Like the body, the chocolate, still not that into cherry notes
8/4/2015

Steve
This is a good one, but I've struggled to get the grind and dose right for my machine, which has meant it's been sub-optimal.
8/4/2015

Adam
Great Taste, Bold and Smooth with good flavor. Brewed with Aeropress. Used a Fine Grind.
7/29/2015

Julia
Actually, we give this 3 1/2 stars. Balanced is a good word for it. It is not as "different" as we were expecting . We found it changed character as we were having it with food rather than just sipping it as a beverage on its own. It was better with food (savory), as that brought out more of the chocolate/cherry overtones. The word that describes it for us, not even sure if it is a word, is "roasty."
7/23/2015

Tammy
Somewhat too dark for me, but otherwise very good flavor
7/12/2015

Jorge
This has been a delicious blend, not what I expected but definitely a welcome taste. Its definitely on the sweeter side and leaves a very warm feeling in my body!
7/9/2015

Dustin
Delightful.
6/27/2015

Sharon
Ok but not quite what I expected from the description.
6/15/2015

Brooke
The Sumatra in this blend covers up all the wonderful fruity notes Ethiopian coffees are known for.
