A little darker in the cup than I expected given the roast level. Dark chocolate, cinnamon, hazelnut. A little astringent, and a little bitter on the finish. This works great in milk drinks, but don't know if it would be my first choice for a straight shot.

Really a complete coffee. Bold, full flavor. Worth noting is Atomic's phenomenal packaging, compete with heavy-duty bag, de-gassing valve, and zip-loc top. Will certainly make it onto my list of repeat coffees.

Amazing. Among the best coffee I've brewed myself, if the not the very best (aero presse). I not only taste the chocolate and bold, but I get caramel/honey on the nose on the front end, with the most unique spice finish. I'm not a trained taster, and I may not use the correct descriptors, but I know this: I love this blend!

Seems maybe under roasted for me. Or maybe just high in acids. Definitely has a strong sour note that overpowers what I think is a decent chocolate and caramel undertone. I am really pushing extraction to the point of almost too fine of a grind in my espresso maker. But I can't get the sour out. After further experience I have to downgrade this coffee. I couldn't wait to run out.

Really tough to rate this one because the actual flavor and tone of the coffee was great, but getting the ratio to coffee and water correct was kind of brutal!
The instructions were 1.75 gram of coffee per 1 oz. of water. That resulted in nearly two scoops of coffee for every cup! First, if you're making 6 cups of coffee, you nearly need to fill the filter to the brim and you're thinking - no way, this is going to be way too strong (but it wasn't).
Second, as a result, all the coffee was used up within 4 days.
Didn't feel worth it.

I like the caramel and hint of spices. It was a tan bean,instead of dark brown. Which isn't bad, it's just different from what I'm used to getting. No sour or burnt characteristics. It didn't seem "bold" but it might be that my limited experience has all been bold anyway.

This Anodyne blend was initially very bold and nutty, however it has grown on me significantly. I made a Japanese ice brew in a Chemex with my first roast, which was not as flattering as a normal hot Chemex Brew (which i have stuck to since). I am generally more partial to light, and bright flavors in my coffee, so this was a good change of pace, not exactly what I was expecting, however.

Not a fan. Tasted quite stale, and there was not a roasting date on the bag. Profile was aggressively sour and acidic despite many attempts to change the extraction. Immersion brews (french press) performed best to mitigate the sour notes, but it left a unidimensional and boring cup. We did not experience much body; the mouthfeel was flat and uninspiring. One of our least favorite coffees from Mistobox so far.

The more distance I have from my first tasting the more I've come to appreciate this coffee. When I first tried this coffee I used fresh ground beans, just the right temperature water, a fancy pour over. I was greeted with coffee that was rich and bold, deeply chocolatey. On one hand it felt intimate and familiar, like every great coffee shop coffee I've had the pleasure of sipping.
On the other hand, it's unassuming and ordinary. Though there is lots of great coffee flavor, the baking spices and caramel are nowhere to be found. Though this is a great cup of coffee it is not the most memorable cup of coffee I have had.
What is most telling is likely how I interact with the beans now. In the busyness that is student life I don't have time to sit and enjoy the nuances of my cup. Even so, I still find myself reaching for another sip as I pour over my lecture notes in the morning and mourning the end of my cup for the day. (puns intended)

It was balanced but had no signature note that I could taste. I'd prefer one that leans just a little more heavily on a sweet, nutty or chocolate note (or similar notes). Overall, I'd consider it a slightly-above-average blend.

The pour over problem was the coffee, not the method. I was using pre-ground Duncan Donuts and it tasted terrible. It was thin and watery and way too acidic. Tangy, but not in a good way. Open the bag of Atomic Blend and right off the bat you can smell those caramel notes strongly. I really like that you can smell that sweetness. Ground for french press first, strong smell of earth/chocolate/caramel. Maybe some dark fruit hiding in there? Brewed and poured. Being french press, it's full bodied and muddy. Smoooooth. Slightly tangy, but not bitter. Strong notes of caramel and bourbon. Tried again with the same single cup pour over (Snow Peak titanium pour over). Success! Yielded a smooth, rich and strong cup of coffee. I think my pour over hole is too large, I feel like the flow rate is too fast. In my pour over, understandably, the mouth feel is lessened. Strong notes of earth and dark chocolate. Can't wait for my Chemex to come in!

This was a delicious, bold blend. Its something you pull out to really impress another coffee drinker. I'm really happy to have this in my pantry. While it may be too big and earthy to be a daily drinker, I can definitely pull this out when I want something with some extra oomph to get me going.
After having gone though all 6, I want to revise this one. The flavor profile on this was just incredible. I'm still not sure it would be a daily cup, but it wouldnt be far from it. Probably my second favorite from these first 6.

Very balanced cup with a good blend of sweetness and acidity. The notes of baking spices stand out at first, while the caramel is more present at the finish, Made using a Bialetti Moka Express, 3 oz. with 2% milk and 1 tsp. Demerara sugar.

I really liked this coffee. I brewed it mainly in my Cheney as a pour over. What I liked, it's super smooth! It is just a smooth coffee, it doesn't have an acid bite to it at all. I also loved the hints of flavor in this coffee, I tasted the chocolate and hazelnut flavors in it. Very good

This coffee really didn't seem bold to me. I've tried it a few different ways and it just seems mild. It is okay coffee and I kind of like it, but it isn't anything great. It just wasn't as full-bodied as I was expecting.

I wasn't a huge fan. It tasted too light (no matter how strong I brewed it) and a little too acidic (which probably would've been okay if it had been more full-bodied). To me, a novice, it tasted more fruity than like caramel. I did like the baking spices flavor though. I'm going to try to brew it again using a ridiculous coffee-to-water ratio and see if that helps.

After a few tastes, I found that this roast makes a smooth cup of coffee. There is almost no bitterness, and a quite pleasant aftertaste where the flavors arise. This coffee is good, but I'd prefer a coffee with a little more body and more kick to its taste.

I had a different experience with this coffee overall since I really didn't experience it well until I put it through my Chemex. Although the bean was lighter than I'm used to I got a rich and almost buttery flavor out of this coffee as I changed my brewer. I think tasting this one was a bit more advanced than what I've experienced previously but well worth the trials.

I typically don't like to taste much sweetness in my coffee, but this had just a hint. In fact, it was the perfect amount. An excellent balance between sweet and bold.

Really good, a very sweet coffee with a light body. The caramel is very potent and with the chocolate and it all makes for a phenomenal cup.

Could you please wrap the shipment box (the black box) in plastic or put it into another box before shipping? I use forward shipping and my shipment company covers the box in large stickers (with address etc), which ruins the appearance. I gave this coffee away as a gift, but I had to replace the box :(

The flavor was ok but found it slightly bitter. I was most disappointed by its lack of aroma. I enjoy the smell, as much as the taste, of a good cup of coffee.

Coffee seems a little light in color and depth. But, not a bad flavor for an afternoon coffee. I'm looking for something that will jolt me awake in the morning. But, not too acid based but a good flavor. Enjoyed this Atomic Blend in the evening with a great french vanilla gelato affogato. .

I loved how roasty toasty it tasted!! Just so warm and inviting! I really loved it black, which is sayin somethin'! I also loved it all dressed up in cream and sugar. It was a treat either way!

It tastes fine, but I've had a hard time striking the right balance in terms of scoops. The label instructions use scales and grams and what have you. So, it's OK. Don't love it.

Nice blend! Bold but smooth and not too bitter. This is a nice robust winter cup of coffee. I'd prefer not to go any darker or smokier than this, but this was a nice start. I usually prefer more fruity/citrus-y notes than in this blend.

This blend was a decent cup of coffee. Not as flavorful as I was hoping from some of the past micro-roast coffees I've had. The complex flavors of earthy, smoky, and nutty are prevalent, was hoping for a more pronounced chocolate taste. Overall, good recommendation, good cup of coffee. 4 out of 5.

Very smooth, deep taste. I like it a lot, but even more I like coffees with more of an edge. With more surprising taste. Nothing against Atomic Blend in that! I wonder if the roasters know that "anodyne" most often means "insipid, without much character."

Updating my review: This was by far my favorite coffee of my three shipments so far. Now that I've tried a couple lighter roasts, I find myself missing the bitterness and darkness of this one!

This coffee was good enough from the beginning but the had a grassy nutty after taste that took a little bit to get used to. Im not always into blends but after a few cups the taste grew on me and all the flavors actually compliment each other well. I've grown to really enjoy this coffee!

Great coffee for the morning! I've brewed it with a Chemex, French Press, and regular drip. All methods produced great coffee, although I like the French Press the best. The chocolaty tones are definitely there, this coffee is just as advertised!

A pretty good morning coffee, this is the bag I chose to take to work for my morning cup of joe. Smooth enough that I can drink it black. I find it a bit softer than the Monaco Blend, which is good, but the overall taste, while good, is nothing I'd rave about.

while it had an AMAZING aroma coming out of the box, it really just "tasted like coffee" e.g. nothing special, which was a bummer. I liked the way that it was written up - bold/earthy/nutty - didn't get that. Did happen to buy a bag of Equator Sumatra, which was a GREAT coffee. Not sure if that helps you tailor ours going forward. -Sandra

These medium dark, non-oily beans almost resembled almonds in appearance and smell than coffee. The coffee brewed into a rust color and I didn't find the taste to have much depth or balance. I tried adding milk, which curdled a bit until I stirred it. This wasn't the "wake up" coffee I needed, but I could see this being good after lunch or with dessert.

I have absolutely loved all of my selections so far, but this one is my least favorite. It's not a bad coffee by any means, it's just not for me. I do like bold flavors, but this just didn't do anything for me compared to the others. A bit acidic and didn't have that entire mouth wow factor that the other have had.

This is the first blend we have tried from my very first Mistobox shipment. The first word that comes to mind is "smooth." This coffee behaved like good wine when swirled about the tongue. It had a velvety feel without any acidity, harshness or bite. We agree with the earthy and spice descriptors, but not the nutty or bold. A great start to my subscription.

Great aroma...defintiely smokey...almost tobacco-esque. Flavor did not meet the aroma. I did not find this to be as bold as I was hoping.

I liked the packaging. Interesting bag. It smelled good. But the taste was so bitter that it was not drinkable...Even as iced coffee (sugar and cream). I'm normally a black choose gal, so I need it really smooth. I ended up emptying the beans out of my grinder hopper and discarding them.

This is one of the better smelling coffees I've tried--both before and after it's brewed. Words like traditional, balanced, and fragrant come to mind. A coffee you'd want someone who's not a coffee fan to start out tasting.
