Description
This is the El Salvador Manzano brought to you by Topeca Coffee Roasters. This Direct Trade coffee was grown in the Santa Ana region at an altitude of 1,300 - 1,550 meters and consists of the Red Bourbon variety. This cup is well balanced, with notes of almond, honeysuckle and pipe tobacco.

Pipe tobacco flavor is a bit overpowering and bitter. Tastes too earthy for my taste.

I was surprised to find that I liked the notes of tobacco. To me, the nuttiness came across more like hazelnut rather than almond, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I also noted honey and caramel. Acidity was pretty tame - but there was a bit of a sourness to it. Brewed with a French press.

Not bad. Decent aroma and great balance. BE CAREFUL WITH AERO PRESS. if you so much as TOUCH the grinds when compressing, it will taste like battery acid.

The beans have a sweet tobacco smell with hints of nuts. The brew was slightly sour on the front of the tongue, but finished clean with some sweetness. The tobacco flavor carried through. Very different from the dark roasts we’ve had in the past. Very pleasant coffee.

We liked this coffee better than the first one! The beans seemed like they were high quality and the roast was nice and balanced. We liked the nutty flavor but it was lacking some brightness/fruit flavors that we tend to prefer in our coffees. Overall a good bean.

This is definitely different from the normal, fruity/floral light roasts I prefer, but I've really enjoyed it. I can consistently taste the almond and pipe tobacco notes, which give it a nice, robust flavor and body that I've actually really enjoyed the more I've drank it.

Good earthy coffee with nutty overall flavor with lingering "toboacco"which I call earthiness. A good breakfast brew that is basic but not "sexy.". Much better as french press rather than pourover. French press highlights the balance and earthiness. Full bodied

Good average grade coffee. Nice on the roast...bean was not oily! Not a great price point for the club. This coffee can be purchased online for $11.99/bag. Definitely not want I would expect in a $20 12 oz bag of coffee.

Not as good as my first coffee. May be all in my mind, but thinking of notes of pipe tobacco - not a favorite taste. Definitely smooth, though. Doesn't appear as complex as my La Folie coffee was. Or, perhaps I miss the chocolate!

Tried it twice with two different waters. Didn't love it either time. Nutty flavor kept it bland and middle-of-the-road. Nothing profound or memorable about it.

MUCH better than the first batch! Love that it’s single origin too, and not a blend. Still might be a little darker roast than I usually go for, but I’m definitely enjoying this one.

Not my favorite of the three I've had so far. Flavor wasn't really there for me. I think the first coffee I received is my favorite so far. I believe I'm happier with lighter roasts but not sure if that affects my satisfaction with the flavor.

Very nutty and chocolaty. I feel like I was drinking a lighter version of a Hershey’s chocolate bar with almond. It had a bit of the smoky/tobacco after taste which was a welcome finish to a nicely sweet coffee. I’ll definitely be getting more of this.

The flavors here were fantastic. The only criticism I had was that the intensity was a little low. If I could compare it to the Guatemala Huehuetenango from Anodyne that I got previously, I'd say that something in between the two in intensity would be completely perfect. But again, the flavors were awesome!

Prepared as pourover - Had a pleasant nuttiness (although I could not nail 'almond') and a mild floral quality could be found (I'm not sure I would even know the flavor of honeysuckle?). Could not find 'pipe tobacco', but did notice some sweetness and acidity. Still had moderate body and produced a very enjoyable cup.

Hi guys, I was very disappointed to receive this as my first coffee on my new gift subscription. This was the same roaster you sent me as my first order in my last subscription. Part of the reason I like MistoBox is that I am exposed to new roasters, so I was bummed to get the exact same roaster for my first order that I got last time. Not a great start to the year...

Nice light roast with full flavor. Nutty, but not too over-powering with the almond flavor. The floral/crisp flavor was spot on for single serve cups with either chem-ex or French press.

When I grind the beans, I can feel the nut and tobacco scent. The taste is not bad, actually good. But I prefer the fruit scent and more lighter roast for my coffee.
