Description
This is the Midway Blend brought to you by Dillanos Coffee Roasters. This blend was developed to hit the literal sweet spot between a medium and a dark roast. The level of development where acidity has been diminished yet bitterness has not been created. This blend works great as an espresso blend or as a filter coffee, brewed as drip or French Press. Expect a bold cup, with notes of baker's chocolate and candied walnuts.

This one was difficult to dial in properly. They describe it as a medium-dark roast, but I'd definitely put it in the dark column. The beans are pretty oily and caused my grinder to jam. Once I got it figured out, I had a very full-bodied cup with intense dark chocolate flavors.

Not terrible, not anything to write home about either. I couldn’t seem to get much of the flavor. It was a decent cup. Nice body, nice aroma, balanced in mouthfeel, but I missed the nuances of flavor. Brewed consistently though which I did like.

I liked using this in flavored lattes; the nutty and chocolate flavors went well with specific syrups. I got the best crema I've had yet using this coffee with my machine. By itself though, I thought the flavor was okay in general, but the chocolate and walnut overpowered the "coffee" taste too much.

Very good coffee. Closer to what I like, a little more bold, a little more complex than my previous two. Although my first coffees were very good and offered a change, this is more of my daily coffee type. I am looking forward to more offerings.

This brew was delightful. It did have the perfect mix between medium and dark roast. There was not acidic taste nor bitter. I really enjoyed the chocolate and nutty notes from this blend.

The coffee came smelling freshly roasted. The flavor was more bitter and acidic than I typically like. But I appreciated the strong bold flavor of it. I would have liked something slightly less acidic and smoother. I did enjoy the great crema it produced.

Excellent bold taste. Slight Acid aftertaste noted. Used Arrowhead Spring bottled water and brewed using Krups automatic drip coffee with gold screen cone filter.

First impression was that it was smooth and balanced. Roast level seemed middle of the road. Not too light not too dark. The flavors I pick up are woody and earthy. No fruit. I liked the balanced, smooth, roasty characteristics. I liked it, but it's not something I would crave.

This is a good, but not great coffee. I think the bitterness was too strong and not enough flavorful tones for a great latte. I prefer a slightly lighter roast

Very very, very good. Not quite enough kick, but a great job of blending and roasting.
Addendum: Second bag of this bean isn't as good. Specifically, the aftertaste is...weird. I can't describe it but it's not coffee-like (the aftertaste). Hope the next batch of Midway is better, like the first.

Great in the pourover, but a bit rough in the espresso machine (it had burnt undertones). Still a good cup of coffee either way. Looking forward to the next one!

Sorry for the delay in the review. The coffee was good, smooth yet bold. We didn't love the walnut tasting note, but didn't hate it either. Just not our favorite. I'm not much of a nut lover. Overall it did well in both aeropress and french press. The beans themselves were very oily and it made cleaning our burr grinder kind of a nightmare, but that's pretty standard with a lot of darker bolder roasts that I've had before.

We have used this for our daily cappuccinos. While we like it, my wife and I both wish it was a bit more bold and flavorful. This morning I was actually getting a bit more bitterness than I wanted.

I liked the flavor, it wasn't very bitter, but I was hoping for a more robust flavor. It was described as chocolate and nutty, but I couldn't taste the chocolate at all, and only some cups did I get any nut flavor.

Another good coffee from Dillanos; frankly we prefer this one over the Metro French roast. Definitely a stronger coffee, and surprisingly insensitive to ham-fisted V60 pours. Notes are spot-on; had a bit of a difficulty extracting a sweeter cup, but this did not ruin the experience.

Not sure if something wrong with this batch. But this is undrinkable. even with milk there is a foul burnt taste that this coffee is giving off.

This one tastes bolder than the Atomic blend, but has a smoother, less bitter taste to me. I like this one, but I'd also enjoy something less bold.
For what it's worth, I use an Aeropress, water at around 180°, with a 2 minute brew time. I've used a slightly less fine grind with this blend that has helped with the boldness.

This is a great middle of the road blend as indicated. It is a medium roast and is pleasant to drink. Personally looking for something more chocolaty.

This coffee was susceptible to notable flavor variations due to small differences of volume of grounds used. When measuring, I use a 2 Tbs. metal scoop; if I measure it level, the coffee is weak. Heaping, the coffee is okay, Somewhere between level and heaping, it was better. This is brewed with a 32 oz. french press and timed at 4 minutes.

Great coffee, perfect for espresso or lattes, has a very nice finish taste to it. It has a slightly sour taste which is strange, I'm not sure if I like that part of it yet, but this is definitely one of the better beans I've had in the life.

I thought this blend was well-balanced which is usually what I'm looking for in a coffee. Full flavor, but smooth. My first brew was using french press. My new pour over set arrives Thursday (old one broke), so I'm excited to try it this way as well.

Ok, not something I'd get again, but not horrible. It's not light or dark, certainly medium, and doesn't seem to have much else going on. I found a bit bitter at the end. The first sip doesn't have that "great cup" smell. I like a bit more aroma than just coffee smell.

Excellent! The description here says this coffee is bold, and they are absolutely correct! Very strong, chocolaty flavor that will not disappoint those seeking a bold taste. The flavor is simple, so if you're looking for a very complex coffee, this may not be for you, but if you want one with a seriously bold punch, this is the coffee for you! My favorite yet!

I really enjoyed this coffee--made my best cup since my recent switch to pour-over from automatic machines. It's a rich, complex coffee, reminds me of bitter dark chocolate. Before this I was using a lighter roast and I was struggling with under-extracted, acidic flavors; this coffee seems easy to extract correctly with no unpleasant acidity. I wish it had a roast date on the package, though.

The Midway Blend is much darker and oily than I would ever want again. It also is not complex in flavor, has no roast date, and is just too plain to use. I want medium roasts or light roasts only.

Really like the undertones of this coffee. It's more on the darker side but is still very palatable. I normally like more fruity coffees but was pleasantly surprised by this blend.

The beans look like they are caught between a medium roast and a dark roast, where most of the beans have just started to take on the shine of a dark roast. A very intriguing look. However, to me, this blend brews like a dark roast, has the aromas and flavors of a sweeter dark roast. I would call it similar to an Italian roast. It has a sweet and robust kick at the start, very smooth and just slightly earthy in the middle and finishes with notes of dark, DARK, chocolate. Very nice blend during the winter holiday season. For me, it was very tasty but overall, very average. Nothing mind blowing here. It brews a bit darker than I would prefer (or expected from the look of the beans), but nothing I would shy away from. I'd give it 3.5 stars if that was an option. A solid first pick to figure out my pallet Samantha!

I am a huge fan of always trying a new coffee, hopefully every shipment. That is part of the excitement for me. That being said, my first coffee, Dillanos midway blend is Amazing enough for me to put it at the top of my list of everyday coffees. You know how when you buy grocery store coffee you immediately head to the dairy aisle to buy those fancy flavored creamers? Yet, when you get home, the coffee just doesn't thrill you like Starbucks, or heck even Dunkin Donuts coffees did? Yeah, not the case with Dillanos. It is honestly such a quality coffee, that it tastes fabulous as it is. Adding those creamers with all the preservatives, oils and other chemicals in them would make the coffee taste worse not better. I know I tried this coffee both ways in the first day I had it . This is definitely a quality coffee if I like it sans cream and sugar because I typically hate black coffee, and I have drank two today which is the day after my shipment arrived! My profile guy did an awesome job selecting this one for me!
