The Panama Elida Estate Natural - Lot 26 was carefully roasted for you by Portola Coffee Lab. This coffee was grown on the Elida Estate in the Alto Quiel, Boquete region of Panama by Wilford Lamastus. This naturally processed coffee was grown at an altitude of 1,670 - 1,825 meters and consists of Bourbon, Typica and Catuai varieties. The cup is fantastically complex and sweet, with fruity notes of mango and black currant and rounded out with notes of semisweet chocolate.
Solid coffee for my current tastes. Brewed up great in my Kalita Wave, though it def took some adjusting of my normal grind size to get the taste where I wanted it, I had to make the grinds a bit bigger or else it tasted over exposed to me - the flavors not as crisp as I Liked, but once I got it dialed, it was tasty.
I can blind guess some regions of coffee from taste, but this Latin American coffee would have fooled me. It was much more complex and rich than others I have had to date. Honestly, I could have been convinced it was a Yirgacheffe, but maybe that speaks to my inexperience tasting lots of coffees.I try not to get caught up in all the flavor notes. But I really prefer a Ethopian coffees in general. And though this wasn't from that region, it had a lot of comparable flavors. The 4/5 rating is largely based on my personal preferences, so be careful about reading too much into that. For this type of bean, the processing and roast was very good.
I also wanted to note that the plastic zip seal would pop open overnight. I eventually got a sealed coffee container, but I think this batch might have gotten a touch stale on me. Maybe it was just my bag? Or maybe there's some improvement you can do to the bag's design? I'm not sure.
This one started off good and kept getting better. Tasty!
Haven't had a ton of naturals, but this one is the best natural I've had. Usually naturals, for me, are super fruit forward and then kinda decline into a light, thin, disappointing finish. This one has so much more going on. After its initial somewhat fruity first impression, it rounds out into a nice, super sweet and satisfying finish. Much more complex than the typical natural I've had at shops. Really happy with this coffee.
I seek caffeine without a harsh comedown. It's here. Flavor is hidden and takes care to unlock ...
Taste is ok but flavor is light.
Portola keeps knocking out these delicious fruit-forward cups of joy. As the description mentions, it is sweet, fairly juicy and does have a subtle bakers chocolate flavor finish. One of the very best I've ever had.
One of the most unique and distinct naturals I've ever had, very pleasant, unaggressive fruit notes, and fairly low acidity.
Very good. Complex and sweet. Best in v60, not as good in French press
Top Notch! This is, without a doubt, the best coffee we've received from Mistobox. Delicious blackcurrant and chocolate flavors, with a really juicy cup. I loved it. Eye-opening, as I knew little about natural Panamas.
Yes! This hits it for me. Sitting here listening to my new Etta James on Green Vinyl, used my Aeropress at 2;00 slightly off boil, 17 grams hand ground to medium fine. Loving the intense, clean, complex and very satisfying taste, mouthfeel, and aftertaste. From fruity notes, to an aroma of black currant (which when pointed out in literature I can discern) to a nice long lasting lingering flavor hinting at a semi-bitter sweet piece of chocolate with a hint of fruit.Love it, love it, love it!
INCREDIBLE! Super complex spectrum of fruit notes, but not cloyingly so. Fruit transitions into rich, balanced moutfeel. Really impressive, fun cup.
Absolutely my favorite so far!!! Super fruity and well balanced, so perfect.
One of the best coffees I have ever had. I could tell it was going to be amazing the moment I opened the bag a a wave of delicious aromas hit me.
A fine natural and a fine Panamanian. Fair amount of acidity and good body. Chocolate-covered orange hits you first before a smooth but tart berry finish.
I enjoyed this cup! Upon opening the bag I could smell something floral and Chocolatey. Notes of orange peel, a hint of mango and chocolate hit my tongue. Medium body and a balanced cup. Brew method: kalita wave.
Best one I've had yet All the flavors work so well together and it's just so good!
I felt this cup was very sweet with the flavor of black currant coming off the strongest. A very smooth coffee without any lingering bitterness which made it drink very easily. Still missing an acidic note that I enjoy from my coffee. I felt it was a very light coffee and was missing a stronger body.
Perfect example of a top notch natural. Fruity yet clean. Loved this bean!
Love the acidity in this cup. Initial smell/taste of strawberries. Very fruity with a tea like finish. Enjoyed it best through aeropress.
Very smooth low acidity. Paired well with cigars and enjoyed anytime if day
Would prefer a little more acidity. Tastes a bit too earthy for me.
