This is the Ecuador Juan Peña brought to you by Spyhouse Coffee Roasting Co. This fully washed coffee was sourced from the growing region of Saraguro in Ecuador and was produced by the Juan Peña at 2,100 meters. We love this coffee brewed as a pour over, like the Chemex or V60, to highlight its delicate, nuanced notes of berries, currants, tropical fruit and lovely floral aroma. This is one of our favorite coffees we tasted this year, enjoy!
4.4/5. A pretty good coffee. Smells very sweet and the mango tropical fruit is there without being overly acidic. The rose is strangely but pleasantly there on the nose. The coffee in the cup is nice at 20g on the V60 at a 275ml pour ground to a finer medium grind at 195F. I enjoyed this coffee and would order again.
"graham cracker" flavor can be achieved. good finish. interesting results using espresso machine LONG shot. crema is magical. aeropress needs lower temperature to succeed, but great flavors are tucked away
A delicate, sweet coffee that surprised me. Atypical for Ecuador, this roast definitely had me dreaming of the tropics.
This is a phenomenal coffee and roast. The smoothness, mouth feel, and delicate juicy flavors are a real treat. I would point it to being soft enough flavor to nuance papaya or melon, but enough zing to come through on berry notes. Really an exceptional coffee.
Amazing! The aroma is fruity and sweet. Flavor is nuanced and complex, with notes of berries and ripe citrus. The finish has a savory, umami-like richness and lingers beautifully. Tastes good as it cools and I enjoyed every drop.
Wow, this coffee was as good as people said it was. Once it cooled down, lots of jasmine and floral notes. Very light mouthfeel and delicate. Aroma and tasting notes of mango. Another killer coffee from Spyhouse, their imperial reserve coffees have been great recently
Such an outstanding coffee.
juicy, balanced. truly exquisite. some of the best coffee I've ever had. can you send me another one of these for my next shipment?
USCC roaster champ? Yes, please.
Fantastic coffee, awesome sweetness, nice body, well balanced, this coffee killed it at the Roasting Comp at SCAA.
Really interesting coffee! As it cools, layers of flavor come out with mango being the highlight.
After hearing legends about the superiority of this coffee from a colleague, I became hopeful when I received notice that Seth had chosen this coffee for me. It did disappoint. It was delightfully floral and delicate in body, reminding us of a melon-infused water. As our cups cooled, we could better taste the coffee's vibrant mango sweetness. Truly exemplary.
Very, very good. A really unique coffee with lots of floral notes. One of my favorite coffees so far.
This coffee is fantastically balanced. I really like the floral and fruit notes and smooth finish. It's done best on the Chemex for me so far.
Very enjoyable. There's some liquorice, some blackstrap molasses. I did brew a cup was at least on par with the Tapeca. Excellent. Really wish you'd include 1/2 stars in your ratings system.
A simply sublime coffee - one of the best we've had so far in 2016. It reminds us of a honey-processed geisha, with sweet and juicy flavors of strawberry, rose water, tropical fruit, and a subtle caramel finish.
