This is the S.O. Blend brought to you by Coava Coffee Roasters. Coffees from The Americas & East Africa were carefully chosen and blended together. Simple and straightforward, this coffee is intended to appeal to a wide audience of coffee lovers. We think this coffee is best brewed as a French Press to enhance the rich notes of chocolate, baking spices, and toffee.
Agree with the description. Good quality coffee that appeals to a wide variety of customers. If you are looking for lots of character, I would pass on this one. Was not able to brew this in a French press as recommended, but brewed pour over.
Taste is close to profile which was good flavor but coffee bag was not sealed at arrival.
I love it. I like the chocolate notes, it's not too bitter. Its really dark, so I had to add extra milk to balance out the flavors, but it turned out great because it brought out the flavors more.
I love it! It had me at the first sip! I was actually quite surprised when I took my first taste, I could taste the different nodes and just smiled. So excellent first pick! Thank you.
To add more notes: I use a burr grinder and drip coffee maker. What I like is the balanced taste, with a richness that isn’t muddy (that’s the way o think of coffee that is too strong to a point where it tastes like burnt, bitter, overpowering flat coffee taste). I can taste the different nodes, they start subtle and then build. I like the “baking spices” node and there may be a light fruit node too (I’ve always been selective about my coffee but am not totally versed in all the terminology). The aroma was pleasant too.
Good flavor and mouthfeel. I would prefer a bit darker on the roast.
Just OK. Baking spices were a little odd and overwhelmed the chocolate and toffee notes advertised. Acidity seemed high and limited my enjoyment to just a cup at a time rather than my usual 2-3.
Delicious. Would buy again!
It isn't bad but it not something I would drink when I want coffee more of something I drink to wake up in the morning. A strong but bland coffee.
It's pretty okay! Drinking as a pourover - mostly tasting the fruity notes/apple, not detecting a ton of body or the richness of caramels. I don't hate it, but not my favorite.
Very good flavor, nice chocolate taste, need to try again but actually prepare as a pour over or French Press
Way too bitter for me
Bland, didn’t stand out
The perfect combination of fruity crisp and chocolatey sweet
Too light - not dark enough
Still trying to dial this in on espresso but seems a bit bitter, hard to detect the nuances. It was better on French press and pour over, with more of the apple notes coming through. Overall, not our favorite but definitely not bad.
Wanted to add this as we’ve had two bags of this now- the second was much better for us. More balanced and really good on espresso. I changed my rating from three to four based on the second bag.
Very good all around beans! Had it as a cortado and thought the Apple really shone through!
A tad acidic but still good.
I sent a detailed email. Bottom line, overwhelmingly smokey despite several different methods and variations in brewing. We decided to go with a lighter/medium roast for second bag
Nothing to write home about but did the job as coffee
Was able to pull some fabulous espresso from this batch.
A fair coffee, a little bite when drinking black, brewing in the french press on the longer end (15-20 min.) yielded better results. Did not get much chocolate or toffee flavor.
v good espresso. Solid Chemex
Not much body to the coffee and flavor ok but maybe a bit too "fruity". We are using drip coffee maker so probably a french press coffee is not best. Like full bodied coffee without the dark ashy taste. Thanks!
Loved the smooth flavor
It was good, but I wasn’t blown away by it.
Just as it’s described—relatively complex, chocolatey and rich. So far, I have enjoyed it both as a latte and americano.
Not the rich and chocolatey profile I was hoping for--definitely brighter and fruitier than I tend to like. Still worked okay as espresso in iced mocha, but my preference is for less fruity/bright, more chocolate/deep/rich
Not bad but seems a bit bitter.
Balanced and smooth, very delicious
A little bitter a little bit too strong. Could not tell if acidity was high.
Ok espresso, but I feel like the baking spices / herbs and dark chocolate lean a bit too bitter overall. Not my favorite
Tastes like robusta
This coffee is DELICIOUS! It is very rich and full flavored. I would love to receive this coffee again.
Loved the chocolate notes and smoothness
Great tasting cup of coffee
Good, used it for French press too.
It’s much lighter in flavor than I was hoping when used in my espresso machine. It smells incredible though!
Kim and Chris
Delicious as drip
Incredible flavor! Perfect deep and rich.
Better in the Aeropress rather than the French Press for a more rich, bold flavor to the palate; would not be my first choice in coffee beans - it’s ok.
I really like this coffee, its rich and very nice.
Favorite so far
Chocolatey and dark berries, especially as it cools.
Been loving this from the AeroPress.
Chocolate - a little dry
Perfect blend of chocolate with a rich but smooth mouth feel.
Preferred brew method: French Press
Too many dark notes
This did not have a full flavor and had a bitter finish. I ended up brewing it with lower temperature water and added salt to cut the bitterness. Would not order again
This has been my favorite of the coffee flavors I have received. It is rich and with nice chocolate flavors.
Have tried as drip coffee and using aeropress. I prefer aeropress because I feel I get a more chocolate-heavy taste. This coffee has a slightly fruity taste in the beginning with a definite chocolate-y finish. As the coffee cools slightly I could taste more of the rich caramel/chocolate flavor. Delicious!
