This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Huckleberry Roasters will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
This is the Blue Orchid Blend brought to you by Huckleberry Roasters. Huckleberry changes the components of this blend frequently, but they always try to maintain a sweet, full bodied, chocolate and caramel flavor profile by using Central and South American coffees specifically chosen for those qualities. This is great tasting comfort coffee and is a well-rounded crowd pleaser, it tastes great on its own or even with a bit of milk. Great for all brewing methods including espresso.
Very good diner style coffee, tastes great black or with milk
Not all that much flavor compared to previous coffees. Also didn't work well with my Bialetti Brikka stovetop.
Nice sour flavor.
Very good and smooth
Pretty good - was hard to get the flavor come through at a higher ratio
Great coffee. The chocolate real came through. Nice body
Very tasty, really liked it.
Finally got delivered yesterday on 2/19 (USPS is having issues in Chicago). Really enjoying so far, great coffee.
Not remarkable. A good espresso but it didn't yield good pulls with good crema. I'd say slightly above average.
best yet, crisper but dark taste. very good
Love it! Great flavor!
This coffee was thin (not full-bodied) and pretty uninteresting to me. I did taste the caramel notes and it’s definitely not bad, but just nothing special. I made this in a chemex with about a 16:1 water:coffee ratio. Maybe it’s better as espresso or a french press, but I wasn’t feeling it with chemex.
4 stars, this is a killer coffee. Smells so good and is wonderful as an espresso. A real winner! I think Phantom Limb is their best roast.
Not as full bodied as I'd hoped.
OK coffee. Nothing special.
Loving the full body that the coffee delivers.
Too much chaff. Very messy. Not a very full bodied cup.
Best one yet.
This was exactly as described. It made a much better shot of espresso in my Breville. I drink all coffee black, so I did not take the advice to add a bit of milk - but it was just OK as drip coffee.
My palate for coffee is still being worked on, but this is by far and beyond one of my favorite coffee blends to date!
I am 99% this is the best coffee I've made at home. I take my coffee with cream and make it in a Chemex or pourover. I am actually trying NOT to use it so it will last longer! I will definitely be buying this, so grateful to Mistobox for sending me the perfect coffee.
It's good, but too much chocolate and caramel for my usual taste. It's nice to changeup with the Central/South American blend, but I prefer more balance.
The taste is decent but not strong.
"Sweet" is right. The flavor/feel I like least in coffee is what feels like high acidity — anything characterized as "bright." This is basically the opposite of that, comfort coffee indeed, but brews up nice and full flavored.
Getting back on track with this one after several mediocre beans. This one has some good chocolate flavor and isn't too dark.
Enjoyed drinking it black
Our favorite coffee we have received so far. Good flavor, not over powering. Smooth.
Really love this for espresso. Nice and full bodied, with a smooth, rich chocolatey taste.
Liked the brightness. Good morning brew
Going the wrong direction. Want more fruit, less chocolate flavors.
A straightforward blend with limited/ specific brew methods to make the coffee shine- initial cupping and brewing a pour over batch gave soft aromas of caramel and chocolate, and upon tasting found the same notes with a light touch of acidity. Pulling espresso, however, brought out a full-bodied shot with an extremely pleasant, nutty finish.
There isn't much to discover with this roast when brewing with pour over/ filtered coffee. The taste in the cup is a slightly pale mirror of the aromas, which are all pleasant but nothing to spring for. Pulling espresso (and possibly french press) is where this roast shines, concentrating the flavors and bringing out subtle notes previously lost.
Left caulk aftertaste. Too bold a flavor perhaps. Would not drink again. But not the most horrible coffee we have had.
I don't enjoy warm flavors, I like to stick to citrusy and fruity beans as I primarily drink my coffee iced
really enjoyed this!
Simple, solid, coffee.
I loved this coffee and it's hard to believe but I just finished this bag. I I buy whole bean and grind every morning using a blade grinder. I grew in an automobile drip. Best part of my morning.
Favorite so far
Good daily coffee. Not too strong but has enough flavor. Would prefer something with a bit more sweet taste.
mild taste VERY good! Highly recommend!
so rich! so good!
Nothing fancy here. Well-balanced, nutty coffee great for breakfast.
This is good easy drinking. Pretty smooth finish.
Really like this! A smooth low acid coffee abundant with toasted cereal tasting notes. Mmmm
Very Smooth with hints of chocolate.
Very smooth, slightly sweet. Enjoyed this very much.
It's alright. A little dry for my taste.
Not our favorite. Flavor notes were a bit heavy.
Haven’t even tasted it yet just peeved about shipping. They printed the label so it would say “shipped” but didn’t actually ship it for a few days so it was way late.
I loved this!
This may have been my favorite yet. I was making espressos with it and was never disappointed.
Much more in line with the kind of coffee I lean towards. Made a latte with this coffee this morning and it was like drinking a cup of hot chocolate! The chocolate and caramel really came through
At first I thought it was a good coffee but maybe t a bit sweet for me but it grew on me over the past few weeks as I started to appreciate the balancing acidity. I quite enjoyed this one.
Too much chocolate flavor
Wow, I love this coffee! That first sip was such a pleasant surprise *chef's kiss*. It's light, but still has plenty of flavor coming through. I'm so happy to received this one!
Was able to get a good cup of coffee using a French Press, a Clever Dripper and a V60. Although there is a taste of baking chocolate and a sweet aftertaste of caramel, I found an overwhelming nutty taste to the cup. Definitely didn't ruin the coffee, but I would have liked a bit less of a nutty flavor.
Really good with aeropress!
A great, light flavor with lots of depth. I love it.
Not bold or distinct enough flavor
so chocolatey!!! I loved it!
A bit more mild then we would like.
Just ok. Flavors are fine but kind of bland, just an average cup of coffee.
Seemed like a good style of coffee for me, and it was decent but for some reason I was experiencing some bitterness and didn't enjoy it quite as much as the previous selections.
A bit to acidic for my taste. Still worth drinking . But for the price I can definatly find something I enjoy more
I feel like this needs milk to be drinkable.
Very good! Good wake up coffee. Wouldn't mind trying something darker in the future.
This has been the best roast so far. Absolutely outstanding.
This was good, especially with my flat burr grinder
So far this coffee has been my favorite.
Not a fan. Boring, bland and uninteresting.
Wasn’t a big fan but can’t put my finger on it. The aroma wasn’t very appealing either.
no complaints! easy to drink, smells great and im enjoying it black.
It was good, though I didn't like it as much as the Rwandan roast. To me it was less distinctive, more muddied. Question, what is the typical time between roast and delivery?
One coffee that I tried via another coffee delivery service and loved was Colombia El Eucalipto by Broadcast Coffee.
Really tasty and vibrant blend of flavors. The smell was a pleasant surprise every time I opened the bag and the bright packaging matched the friendly taste of the coffee. Lovely selection!
One of my absolute favorites
Really good espresso
Our favorite one so far that we've tried. No bitterness at all and very smooth. We liked the chocolate and caramel notes.
Thanks so much for the coffee! This one was pretty good, a little more bland than the previous coffee. I was wondering, would it be possible to curate a coffee the next round more geared towards making cold brew? I have been using a french press to make cold brew, and it would really cool if there was a roast designed for it. Also if there are any African-American-owned roasters I would really appreciate being able to support them. Thanks!
I liked this one! Balanced and tasty. I usually prefer to drink coffee black, but this one needed some milk to help bring out the flavors.
Nothing special here. Would just describe it as "coffee." There's nothing offensive tasting either which is good though.
This coffee is a true medium in every sense of the word. Flavor, roast, and acidity. When you first smell the fresh ground beans you get a really rich fragrance of toffee. When brewed that flavor remains the highlight but is coupled with the taste of chocolate as well. There is only very subtle sweetness, which helps carry the bitter aftertaste and heavier body effectively. Overall a perfect cup of coffee for anyone.
Balanced but a bit bland. Makes good lattes but is boring black.
Didn't care for the 'after taste' of this one.
Pleasant as a latte. Especially good with peppermint!!
Ground using a blade grinder, brewed in a drip and k cup. Liked it!
Nothing really stands out about this coffee for me.
A little two week in coffee flavor for our taste.
Mild, smooth, not too bitter .
Good. But a little bit too dark for me.
Overall, it was good coffee. Liked it slightly less than the Fast Track blend from Good Folks as it wasn't quite as rich, creamy, or full-bodied.
Jason & Julie
Mellow and chill.
Smooth cup of coffee. I love this one in the morning and afternoon.
Pretty good, again not “mind blowing” but as good as the last and one I’d buy again.
That said, mr curator, please stop with the delays between coffees. I waited 8 days between shipments for the last one (unacceptable on a “subscription” model) and now despite changing from a 7 to a 6 day plan, I’ll be waiting 8 days again with next order not expected to arrive until Tuesday.
Made really yummy lattes, especially iced. I found that it needed a coarser grind to flow smoothly through my bottomless portafilter, but flavor was ideal. Looking forward to continue exploring new flavors, but this one was definitely a hit.
a smooth & tasty brew. No complaints! I loved it.
Very nice blend. Hit all the creamy tones I associate with chocolates and carmels. Perfect for telecommute mornings
A little more interesting than Good Folks, but still not quite bold enough for me. Could go a little darker, bolder, and more robust with the selections.
Favorite so far
Delicious! Would love this again.
The medium roast I have been looking for. Nuttiness through and through, really good.
I found this coffee better with milk. Brewed as pour over and drip, the milk helps to bring out the chocolate tasting accents. Without milk, the flavor was less memorable than other blends that I've brewed.
Note: I order the ground coffee
I think this is a really nice blend although it took a couple of tries to get the grind right and timing right. I found that a finer grind (~8 in my Encore) and a slightly shorter steep time in the Aeropress gave me a nice smooth rounded flavor. It's a good coffee but I didn't find it distinctive enough to stand out from a crowd.
Bold flavor but still smooth
Liked it, but was not "wowed" by it.
Delicious and smooth. Rich.
Good, tasted the chocolate, nutty and earthier flavor but for the flavor a bit light. Would have liked a darker roast to go with the flavor.
My favorite so far from mistobox. Full bodied even in large milk drinks. Notes of caramel and light chocolate. hints of berries at the end.
18.75g in 48g out in 30 seconds. No bitterness good solid flavor.
This was tasty and never gonna turn down a good coffee. That said, I'm more of a third wave espresso guy, if I'm using the terminology correctly. I prefer more brightness and acidity than this blend, especially because I drink cortados and the milk certainly tamps the brightness. Thanks!
Acidic undertones..Least favorite to date.
Did not like the after taste
This was the best coffee I have ever had. You're a coffee god.
Seems a little bitter to me.
Pretty good but a little too acidic. Not too strong of a flavor. Think I prefer bolder coffees.
Pretty good but a little too acidic. Not too strong of a flavor. Think I prefer bolder coffees.
loved this one
Very smooth, good chocolate note, minimal bitterness, longer pull (35-36 sec pull, 18.5g 5sec pre-infusion)
Very good all around. Extremely full with minimal bitter aftertaste.
Did not enjoy this coffee, could not seem to find the right combination of creamer or sugar to improve the taste
Well roasted but not our normal preference as we tend to like the more fruitier notes.
This was my favorite so far! More like this one!
Some days it was awesome, but it easily leaned towards a little more bitter than I like if I was off on the amount of half and half. On most days it was great, though!
This needed a shorter shot time than I would have thought given the roast. After adjusting the grind, I found the sweet spot (literally) at 23 seconds with a 1:1.5 ratio. Anything longer than that and I would loose the caramel notes.
This was actually pretty good. A little bolder than others sent.
Loved, loved. loved.
Too Bland for my taste
This was one of the better tasting coffees I've received on Mistobox. I really enjoyed this one. Great pick!
Possibly the absolute best beans ever.
Solid coffee. A bit too light for my taste.
Subtle nuttiness on the finish. Very middle of the road flavor. Not bad but nothing extraordinary. We prefer more complexity in our roasts.
Very well balanced. Reminded me that good coffee doesn't have to be weird.
One of my favorite coffees I've ever tried.
A good cup of joe. I enjoyed how the coffee lent itself to adding my preferred creamer. Good body. Woodsy.
Easy drinking, earthy tones, would probably drink again
This might just be the best coffee I’ve ever had. If not, it’s a really really good one. Balanced flavor. Not burnt tasting or too nutty. Really really yummy.
Liked this Huck coffee a lot.
Pretty good espresso, lacking a bit of depth compared to the Orion.
Very tasty right up my ally flavor wise
Not a fan. A bit too acidic/tangy tasting for my liking.
Good but I think I would prefer something lighter
Meh. This coffee didn't "stand out" to me. It's a little watery, the flavor notes aren't highly perceptible. It's an ok coffee. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
i liked this one! my husband would like a smoother not as full bodied but i enjoyed it.
Excellent and balanced coffee. Dark but not overpowering.
Excellent flavor for espresso, one of my favorites.
Solid bag of coffee. Easily consumed and smooth.
Nice rich and smooth flavor, just as described on bag.
Good flavor profile - a little subtler and lighter than I usually prefer, but it was an easy drinker.
It was fantastic! I'm looking for a bit more variety in my flavors, though, I'd like some stuff that isn't chocolate or nutty, if possible!
Love the undertones. Just a tad weak.
My favorite thus far!
Really enjoyed this coffee's balance of flavors. The chocolate really came through especially with the finish. The caramel added a good amount of sweetness.
I found the flavor to be a little too light-flat-watery
One note, kinda plain, espresso was well rounded but not extrodaniry
It wasn’t awful but just to bland for me
A competent coffee that aims for traditional flavors associated with dark roast on a medium level. The balance is pretty much all chocolate and roasted nuts with no nuance. The caramel at times for unknown reasons left a sour note as temperature dropped. All around it is a medium roast trying to mask flavors as a dark roast. I’d rather drink a dark roast (which I don’t usually enjoy).
good pour, but not as memorable or distinctive as I would hope
Chocolate notes but would like something a little lighter
Hints of chocolate but smooth and creamy with caramel notes, brought out by a splash of half and half. Bright blend
Just a smidge bitter. Perhaps the roast was a little off. Not my favorite but o.k. with cream.
Nice espresso blend. Just as the description describes.
Excellent, love it
Very good, sweet and complex
Excellent blend. Love the rich flavor with chocolate and caramel notes.
Flavors were too subtle, and the coffee lacked body.
Loving this. 18g, 35ml. served as a gibraltar. Sweet, balanced espresso goodness.
Loved this one! I tend to enjoy anything Huckleberry does! They are alway solid!
I’m not very good at describing coffee. This wasn’t my favorite but not sure why. Maybe it’s too dark or too acidic. It’s not as smooth as I like.
Fantastic Coffee! Loved the caramel notes. It makes for a great espresso as well
I found this coffee to be true to its description. It was well-balanced with a stronger sense of chocolate than caramel, but still a very nice flavor to start my day. I do prefer a lighter roast this time of year. I very much look forward to my next shipment.
This one is fantastic, I don't think I've had one this good since Metric Coffee. It is super well balanced, awesome flavor, and it's not overpowering. I would buy this again.
Loved the full-bodied flavor and the hint of chocolate. Very easy drinking cup.
Pulled a little dark for my liking. Tasted better on milk drinks than it did straight
A good kind of boring. Not exactly bland, but subtle enough to have black
Great well-balanced coffee. Love the flavor.
Mellow, smooth flavor. Almost sweet, reminiscent of milk chocolate.
I liked this a lot
Way to dark for pour overs / drip.
I really enjoyed it! Very bright and sweet
a little empty, would prefer something richer in flavor
Coffee was okay. Still trying to find that acidity I like.
Good but a little more boring than the last one. For the last one I could really taste the blueberry - but of course this is a different type of coffee.
I think for the next coffee can we have it a little less chocolaty? All three that you have selected are pretty chocolaty. We really Guatemalan coffee, usually pretty light roast. Ruby is our favorite roastery.
Fine to good. I changed my coffee to water ratio slightly (fixed it, really) and it made a big difference.
I'll try to break this down into a few categories: Branding, Roast, Taste.
Branding: 4 out of 5
- Clean and bright! Catchy business name and a cool name for a blend.
Roast Quality: 3 out of 5
- Found a few quakers and a little unevenness in the roast. This could be because of the blend.
Taste: 2 out of 5
- We felt that the Blue Orchid Blend didn't have a "thing" to call its own. No distinguishable aspect of the blend was able to shine through. Perhaps this is due to the roast or the beans chosen for the blend. Maybe this coffee was a little too "well-rounded" to be considered unique.
It wasn't bad but wasn't amazing. Probably a little darker than I prefer. But my husband liked it a lot.
a little darker than i expected
Loved this one! It smells amazing and tastes fantastic! It's mellow but not meek. It's got great flavor! I am usually a sugar in my coffee kind of girl and I didn't even need sugar for this one. So good!
Definitely am able to pick up on some chocolaty velvety notes in this coffee. Delicious pulling shots with this coffee but handles the pour over game as well.
It was alright. nothing interesting.
Smooth, full bodied coffee.
Very flavorful cup. Lighter than I expected but still a good chocolate sweet taste.
This is one had my ideal balance of flavors and rich body.
Wasn't great as espresso, but was fine as filter coffee. I preferred it on v60 vs Chemex as some of the oils lost in the Chemex filter helped the mouthfeel, in my opinion.
Nice chocolate notes and a dry finish
Amazing. The best I've recieved so far.
Well balanced coffee but is a more in the medium roast range. Probably would be a great espresso, but I mainly do manual brewing so lighter roasts "pop" more.
Nice full body. Bold but round in flavor. Nothing crazy but definitely well balanced and I think this is a blend that meets the desires of the average American coffee drinker. I consider this a blend well done.
Made great espresso. French press was just ok.
Full bodied yet light. Really like
We found this coffee to be better suited to a pour over brew, instead of our usual French press brewing method of choice. It was light and easy on the palette, yet lacked depth and full flavor to be more than mediocre. We did taste hints of caramel, but not wowed by this particular roast.
Good body, with silky feel.
Smooth and mellow. Perfect for todays rainy day. Adds a nice bit of diversity to our list of favorites so far.
Balanced. Strong chocolate tone.
Great cup of coffee. Very well balanced while still able to taste the subtleties and flavors of the beans. Earthy, chocolate, nutty
This one slowly grew on me. At first, I thought it a little bland, although slightly improved in French press. But over time the beans mellowed a little more and I'm getting a nice caramely cup.
Brews well. All round good balance and long lasting flavor. Not my favorite, but still a good roast.
light and nutty
Very mild, slightly sweet
My favorite so far! Smooth without any bitterness-love love love it!
Our favorite coffee so far! We loved it!!
Best one yet! I really love this coffee and I must have more!
Just okay as a cold brew. Have yet to try it V60 or aeropress.
Pretty average. Not bad, not amazing.
Kind of bland but well balanced.
Super Good Coffee. My favorite so far!
Tried a few different methods: Chemex, french press, but none of them seemed able to pull out the flavors promised.
Delicious! Very tasty!
Can't say that we cared for this one too much. I actually thought it tasted slightly burnt.
Brewing via French Press was the perfect suggestion. It was crazy how much the flavor changed. Very good coffee.
The grind was a little more dense than other coffees which made preparing the espresso a little tougher, but when my shots were on, the caramel and chocolate notes prevailed. I would buy this again.
I made this using a pour over method as I don't have a french press or espresso machine. Overall a decent cup of coffee, bold with a lot of flavor.
This was a good cup of coffee. Pretty typical though, nothing spectacular about it, but it was a nice coffee to have to start my day.
Too weak for me
This is a great coffee. I was a little pensive because the label says it's an "espresso" roast and to use a "little cream", which isn't really my style any more. It's surprisingly balanced for these notes on the package. I've done an Aeropress 16g coffee :: 240g water..and Hario V60 30g :: 480g water...both brew up quite nicely.
Good all around coffee. Brighter than I expected but that was welcomed. Otherwise true to its description.
I really enjoyed this bean...bright and citrus yet had underlying caramel and chocolate nuances, excellent mouth feel and aftertaste.
I made it with my Aeropress as double espresso. It was so-so as an espresso but OK when I used it for Americano.
A fine cup, but not for me. Chalky maybe?
Great coffee. I did however notice it would cause the milk in my latte to go flat, or lose its volume/head.....never had a problem with that before
Really enjoyed this!
Freaking amazing. Love pretty much everything about these beans.
Very well balanced and no bitterness
was disappointed with this coffee. Sorry did not care for his one.
toasty, cocoa flavor but a bit acidic
It's really good, smooth. I like the caramel notes.
Excellent! Very balanced, sweet and chocolaty. I am also picking up some kind of a sweet spice note. I really enjoyed it as espresso with just a little steamed milk! *pulled from a La Pavoni Romantica
Of the three I received, this is my favorite.
Nice cup of coffee. Still doesn't beat Cleavon Little Topeca, but I I like it!
I really like this blend by Huckleberry roasters. It is very rich and complex. Definitely best brewed strongly or as expresso.
Delicious! Perfect in every way! From the blend, to the roasting, to the packaging. I love the resealable bag and the roasting date. My new favorite espresso.
