This is the Ethiopia Bokasso brought to you by Verve Coffee Roasters. Grown by the Sidama Farmer's Cooperative Union in the Yirgalem, Sidama region between 1,900 - 2,100 meters, this fully washed coffee is a perfect example of why we love coffees from Ethiopia. This coffee has a vibrant profile with beautiful jasmine notes paired with a lively citrusy acidity.
Really enjoyed it. Grat ethiopian single origin espresso
I found this coffee a little finicky but once you get it dialed in it is really good. Try a finer grind and a little bit longer brew time like 2:45. I used a blue bottle dripper and had the most success with 18g to 300.
I liked this coffee as pour over-but loved it as espresso. With pour-over at a 1:17 ratio it is light with strong earthy and citrus flavors; as espresso at a 1:2 ratio it is well rounded, sweet, has strong citrus flavors, and has a medium body. I decided to give this roaster a try after tasting it at my favorite local cafe, Manresa Bread, and am now glad I did.
Really bright and exciting with absolutely delightful acidity. More like lemon verbena than pure lemon – but maybe that's fanciful. Interestingly, many of the beams are relatively small but all beautifully roasted – maybe this validates the point that the best things come in small packages. In summary, very much to my taste, an absolutely star coffee.
