This coffee will be fresh roasted for you. We expect Colectivo Coffee will roast and ship this coffee in 1-2 business days depending on their roasting schedule.
This is the Black & Tan brought to you by Colectivo Coffee. Organic, Fair Trade coffees from Honduras and Peru were carefully chosen and blended together. This combination of a rich, full-bodied dark roasted coffee with a sweet, clean, medium roast in a blend results in a balanced, yet bold drinking experience.
Very interesting taste. I don’t think I’ve had espresso ever like this and I like it. I appreciate the first notes of smoke and then the end has a bit of a caramel flavor to it.
Love it, has a zing to it!
Excellent!! Loved this Black and Tan!!! So delicious!
Not bad but not my favorite.
The best coffee we've had for a long time!
Love this one!
I didn't mind the caramel flavor to balance the strong coffee. Was good.
I'm just not a fan of this bag. The coffee is very oily and has a burnt taste to it.
Not my favorite flavors.
Excellent pour over, didn't need any added sugar or cream, just great straightup!
Oily coat beans. Cannot create crema for expresso.
Still a little darker roasted than I’d prefer
This one was my favorite
Seemed a little burnt overall to me. Overall an interesting coffee.
Very smooth flavor. Not quite as dark as I usually drink, but I enjoyed it very much.
I liked how it had dark and light beams. Flavor wasn’t anything impressive
This is the worst I’ve received. Borderline on undrinkable. The coffee is bitter (and yes, I’ve tried changing my grind size and my brewing method).
For the first time since I’ve subscribed I’m probably going to end up just throwing the bag away.
beautiful and delicious coffee! very balanced.
Perfect for cold brew! Flavor profile was much more complex using cold brew techniques. I loved the tinge of sweetness cold brew produced. It wasn’t my favorite using French press or aero press though.
Amazing! We loved this blend.
Amazing. Our favorite this far
So rich and so smooth, this was one of the best coffees I've ever tried. Only drank as espresso in lattes, but it was perfect. Very low acidity, smoky but not too much so, with an almost meatiness to it.
Really liked this one, good as espresso and as cold brew
This one I liked!
This has definitely been my favorite in the past year!!!!
This one is really good, I like the string Bold flavor and the low level of acidity. Definitely would be willing to try this one again!
This one was ok. I liked the others better. It was a little less bold.
Just tried it today. I was disappointed it was already ground. I use an AeroPress so the grind was a bit coarse. Usually you send whole beans. The flavor, however, was pleasing at first taste.
Not whole bean. Please resend. I can’t use this.
Not bitter, lots of caffeine, not too acidic
Flavor was a bit mild for my tastes.
My favorite coffee so far. Great flavor.
This coffee was nice and smooth. Not bitter.
Great all around flavor.
Not my fav
Favorite bag of beans so far!
Not our favorite. It seemed a little light compared to the past chooses.
Balanced flavors. Mild and non-offensive.
we loved this one. perfect balance.
Having a hard time putting into words still. When I read the description for this coffee it sounds like something we would like. But it was not dark enough, and the flavor seemed weak.
This one was quite good.
Very full bodied, not acidic at all. Yum!
Great flavor no bitter aftertaste.
Good but a little too light bodied for me:)
I really liked this one for espresso.
It felt powerful. Please send again.
This is my most favorite coffee in the world so far.
This was an excellent blend of that deep earthy coffee flavor I like so much. I just found it difficult to find the right grind size. Not sure if it was because of the two different kinds of roast, but the grind size seemed to be too large to hit that 4 min brew time and when I did, the coffee seemed to be lighter than preferred. A finer grind with longer brew time seemed to give me the flavor profile I enjoyed. would love to see something similar to this, maybe even darker =]
Not a bad cup of coffee. Definitely get the caramel and smokey notes, but a little too char forward and a little light on actual coffee flavor. Not quite full-bodied, but not at all thin or weak. Not exactly my preference, but I can see its appeal.
Also, I'm not a fan of 'blended" mixes. I prefer things be as uniform as possible from tree to roaster. Heck, if I had my choice, I'd prefer all my beans came from the same tree branch and roasted at the same time in the same machine!!
Fun and flavorful
Very bland flavor and not strong enough. I didn't get any caramel tones. Not one of my favorites.
Unique mix of dark and light roasted beans makes an excellent balanced cup. Flavorful but not bitter.
Did not like this.
We really loved this coffee and were so sad when it ran out!
Dark and complex, proper low notes and well-balanced. REALLY enjoyed it - one of our favorited coffees ever.
Not bold enough
STOP SENDING ME "BLACK AND TAN" BLENDS.
They aren't dark roasts. They're a way for coffee roasters to unload their extra light roasts. Just because you label it a dark roast doesn't mean it's dark. This thing brews medium at best. I'm not interested in paying a premium for coffee I don't want. thanks.
What a difference really fresh roast coffee makes in my morning Jo!!! I love the experience. This is a more mildly smooth roast . I’ve enjoyed as well. I do like a bold jolt in the morning so I make it a bit stronger. You guys rock!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Lighter than I prefer. While I really liked the combination of the two different coffees and roasts, I'd rather have single origin.
Really tasty cup of coffee. Drinks easy and has a ton of flavor.
The look of the beans is great, with some oil black coffee beans and lighter tan beans. It produces a well balanced shot with a nice crema.
Smooth and rich with a tasty caramel finish. Comforting cup of coffee. Will order again.
Brewed with Kalita. 21g, 345ml H2O, brew time: 3:45-4:00.
Great blend of bold and medium flavors. Best coffee thus far!
This was delicious and one of my favorite coffees!
This was really fun, nice to try something different.
Great taste not bitter
Love this one
Not bad but this coffee had bite. Something almost tart or sour, I didn't pick up any of the "sweet" flavors referred to in the tasting notes.
too bitter of a taste, did not like at all
Really great. Huge fan of the blend, and liked that it was heavier than the first. Will definitely get it again and pick beans that are similar
A hint of citrus initially initially which develops into a deeper, dark taste; Love the hint of smokiness on the finish, better black then with cream
Update with second shipment of this-this round didn’t have the complexities of previous batches. It as just ok
Reallly well balanced and smooth, but still flavorful.
Great Coffee! Needed some more beans than normal to get the punch I like, but a solid coffee. Nice warm flavor without being overly sweet.
I loved this coffee. Not bitter, but with plenty of character. Definitely a home run!
Best coffe yet! I hear they have a coffee called Blue Healer sonif you guys have that would love to try it!
This was a unique blend! I loved how the 2 roasting styles complimented eachother so well in a single mug.
Excellent: would like more like this!
It was fine. Kind of bland actually. Not much exciting here.
So I actually received collectivos Costa Rica campeón instead of black and tan. Is there anyway I can have the black and tan sent?
I needed to back off the water temperature for this coffee -- 200F was too hot and brought out a lot of bitterness, 190F resulted in a much tastier brew.
smoky finish but no bitter note. Weak with cream but perfect black. Oily sheen on top.
Forst time ever trying a blend, amazing pick as always!
Great - love the flavor!
Love this coffee... rich but very clean flavor, nice caramel notes, not twangy or acidic at all.
not much flavor
Cindy and Robert
Very good! Liked the caramel hint, and this coffee is very flavorful for a medium roast blend. We would happily drink this coffee again!
thin, not much depth
We both enjoyed it,but found we needed a higher ratio of beans to water than we usually use. So we ran out before our next shipment
Good stuff, exactly what I need in the morning
Love the smell and richness of this one!
RIcher than previous blend - held flavors and subtle darker notes with cream. Husband liked the smooth undertones of cocoa but missing the richness he prefers. Overall, we agreed this to be perfect wakeup for these icy winter Colorado mornings.
Did not like as much as many of the others. It was just too over-powering
I liked this coffee the least of any I've tried through Misto box - the smokiness was really strong so it was pretty much the only thing I tasted. Maybe that's why the rest of the flavors felt thin. Pretty color variegation tho...
Subtle chocolate, carmel, and earthy flavor. Quite tasty.
Very good coffee. I can see why this is considered balanced, yet bold. It tastes like caramel upon initial taste that fades to smokey roast at the end. My favorite coffee so far
Loving this coffee. Smooth with a great taste. Bold with lots of flavor.
This coffee is awesome! I love the idea of combining a dark and a light bean in the same bag. The result is a great balance of flavors. I love the full flavor and body of the Black and Tan!
I really liked this coffee. The dark smooth mixed with the nice light gives it some interesting flavors.
Smooth, balanced, bold, slight caramel sweetness
it grew on me, but it was hard to dial in the brew settings. required a finer grind than I normally use.
I love this blend. I don’t want to receive and more kickapoo please. I’m not a big fan. I love love love verve though!! Thanks!!
liked the black, the tan not so much
Nothing stood out about this roast. I appreciate what they are trying to do with a dark and light roast bean, but it felt like conflicting flavors.
An overall well-balanced coffee. The beans certainly had the black and tan look - lighter beans interspersed with dark. It was a bit rough hand grinding, as with most light and medium roast coffees. There was some noticeable sweetness and acidity in the taste, but it is nicely balanced.
Very nice, smooth coffee. This one is among my favorites, but I do agree with my wife that it needs a bit more boldness to get to Excellent.
Bravo! This Black & Tan is really good. Almost as good as the alcoholic version!
Bitterness of dark roast with sourness of light roast.
Firm, balanced cup of coffee. Nice depth of flavor.
Laurann & Matt
Classic bold coffee blend
smooth, bold & balanced as promised.
This was a well balanced cup of coffee - and it was good! Just not great. I like my coffee to have a bit more of a finish to it, and this just didn't have that extra zing.
Blended well with my raw sugar and natural bliss almond milk salted caramel creamer.
I love this one!
I've enjoyed the last two so far and want to try a medium roast with a smoky, caramel, full bodied flavor, if something like that exists.
Enjoyed this one also. Enjoyed the smokiness a lot, and the blend of two roasts give you the best of both worlds.
This is good, but isn't quite as strong as I'd like.
Colectivo is by far my favorite brand of coffee! This is the second roast I have had by them. The Black & Tan is very smooth. It is definitely at the top of my favorites list. I imagine that heaven will feel the same way I do after I've taken my first sip of this coffee in the morning.
I really like this batch. The smoky caramel flavors are distinct and rich. It's also very smooth - even when brewed strong, which is how I prefer it. I can even taste a bit of a chocolate finish. Most excellent!
Edit - After dialing in the brew process for this one, I have to say this is one of the best tasting coffees I've had in a long time! Just superbly smooth and rich flavors. Bravo!
Wonderful stovetop percolator coffee - not acidic, just smooth, rich, and complex.
Peter and Maggie
Fantastic, glad I finally tried Colectivo. AeroPress did it justice.
One of my favorite roasters. The coffee is smooth, bold and low acidity.
Great tasting coffee. Just not sure if I like blends.
Wonderful coffee, perfect blend of light and dark beans. Has a bold and slightly acidic flavor, but is also smooth and perfectly balanced. Love this coffee, would not change a thing
Enjoyable roast - I enjoy this as a morning cup of coffee, not overpowering but bold. Excellent cappuccino.
Wowzers. This is some good strong coffee; even just using a Chemex it's strong, not sure what would happen to me with an espresso. Bonus - the sealed bag is EASY to open, and doesn't require excessive force or scissors.
All coffees have been excellent. This one is especially good for me. Before this one, I felt my pattern was "the darker the better" but this proved that incorrect! This is my favorite so far.
Too light, bitter tasting
Good flavors... very balanced
Great blend here, one of the best so far.
excellent cup of coffee. bold but not burnt or harsh.
I'm not sure I would consider this one "full bodied" but it was smooth and rich - we enjoyed it!
I didn't like this coffee, Colectivo's Black & Tan, as much as the Dillano's Metro French Roast. But it was still really good coffee! It is brighter and more acidic than the Dillano's Metro French Roast, and it brews a more complex cup. However, I just love that roastiness in the Dillano's.
I enjoyed this over all and it came from the city I used to live in. Liked this better as an iced coffee than hot but good either way.
My husband and I differed in our opinions of this coffee. He felt that it wasn't as full bodied as he would have liked and that it had some tangy notes. I enjoyed this coffee very much. I thought it was a good balance of smoky and tangy. I would definitely drink this one again!
Liked this balance
Very good blend.
Bold, strong and smoky flavor is great for a late morning and early afternoon jolt to the senses and to the caffeine receptors. Great blend!
This is the best you have shipped so far. Quite good!
Great blend. Def has the rich and full bodied taste as described. Loved it.
Not a bad roast, but a bit flat. Has a clean smokey finish, but little preceding it to interest the palate. This roast also has a rather narrow extraction range that makes it sensitive in the V60; the Wave and Chexex provided a more consistent cup.
Bunny & Bunny
Flavorful and easy to drink, thank you!
the best coffee I have received from Mistobox, tastes like the best diner coffee you've ever had.
Best Coffee I have had from Milwaukee which means a great cup of coffee!
Loved this one
Absolutely love it. Stout with no bitter after taste.. Excellent coffee. Very smooth.
Smooth, rich taste, all I expect from my morning coffee.
One of my favorites so far. While it is a dark roast, it doesn't feel too overwhelming. Very smooth tasting. Great as a pour-over!
Great caramel taste.
very clean taste, I enjoyed it for breakfast as I like a medium to bold coffee in the morning
It had all the elements I'd like in coffee (roast, tasting notes) but there didn't seem to be much volume to it. It tasted flat-- almost like a decaf does sometimes.
Love coffee from this place. Delicious hot and cold brewed.
Sweet and bold.
Love this coffee and this roaster!
Incredible aroma but weaker on flavor.
My favorite coffee!!
balanced and rich. very nice.
Smells very earthy and goes down smooth. By far I like this one the best.
Loved this blend!!!!
Very enjoyable cup.
Ghislain and Catherine
Although is is not as dark as we usually like, this was very much enjoyable. Unexpected surprise.
Velvety but slightly too smokey for our tastes. Great in cappuccino
Dark, smooth, low acidity - I liked it!
Tasty but kinda burnt tasting also
Fantastic taste with a great kick and it can be enjoyed at anytime of the day
It was delish, loved the beer concept of black and tan too
Iain and Michael
The coffee had little flavor - a disappointment after the metro french roast
I enjoyed this coffee - the two unique tasting notes were very noticeable and they blended well.
Good coffee (great packaging) but it's a mix of roasts, and I prefer using this service for dark roasts only, so I have rated it accordingly.
Very nice and is black & tan
Delicious. Keep 'em coming just like this one.
After the last review I'm not sure what part of I don't like organic coffee you didn't understand . This one had a bit more flavor but it was a bitter/burnt flavor.
Didn't enjoy this at all - the taste really didn't work for me.
A little on the mild side - I prefer something a little bolder and darker roast. Still a good coffee though
I've gone through nearly the entire bag, and sometimes it's very good, sometimes it's excellent. I'm not sure what accounts for the inconsistency, could be slight variations in my preparation. In any case, while it's a little chocolate-y for my tastes, this is a solid blend.
This is a pretty good cuppa but for my inexperienced palate I think it simply tastes OK. Nothing to write home about. I prefer the Parisi Italian Blend over this coffee. Not exactly sure how to describe what is missing from the Black & Tan but I sort of wish it wasn't as acidic and had more of an earthy taste.
Black & Tan is a smooth dark blend that makes for a great pour-over or French press. The "tan" in the blend is a bit lighter than I prefer. Although I liked it, I think I might like a single origin dark vs, a blend better.
Excellent for first cup of the day
Love this one. The combination of heavy but smooth and not having much acidity is an awesome combo. I usually do not like lighter beans due to the acidity, but this is almost perfect. I also usually like a bolder taste, but this seems to find a happy medium on all fronts. I think we should move to every 45 days and once my gift sub runs out I'll sign onto a paid one.
Also, I work for iHeartMedia. I'm a huge fan of your product, obviously, and would love to connect with someone on your marketing team to see if there is an organic synergy between our brands that we can leverage in a partnership. Please let me know if you have anyone I can connect with on that front.
Thanks again for sending this one. Great choice!
This overall was a bit darker than I prefer, but the description of the coffee as sweet, clean, and balanced is right on. Would like to see a bit more "structure" up front.
