This is the Tropical Weather brought to you by Onyx Coffee Lab. A 50/50 blend of Ethiopia Bombe washed and natural processed microlots, this coffee bursts with notes of stone fruit, and finishes with a tropical fruit note so pleasant you can almost hear the ocean's waves.
This cup is blended coffee done right! Fantastic balance of the washed and natural processed lots bringing bursts of juicy mango and pineapple notes, with light, bright acidity. One of the best coffees I've had in 2021 thus far!
Outstanding. Juicy balanced. Just wow.
Tastes like Neapolitan ice cream.
Very mild coffee. Not really remarkable. Smooth and easy but kinda boring.
Still fairly novice at espresso, but this one is all about going big.
I was pulling shots based on my general criteria of about 16-18gms with a 2:1 output. Both my wife and I really didn't like it, even with the bigger 18gm dose. On a whim, I decided to see whether Onyx had any recommendations published and found a video on their website for espresso for this blend, where they recommended 20gms in and 45 out in 30 seconds. Needless to say, switching to those params completely changed the taste!
Works really well in cortados, less so in cappuccinos. My wife has also given her okay in Americanos, so there ya go.
I live in Norwest Arkansas, where Onyx is located. While I still think they make good coffee; they, at some point after May 2020, changed all their packaging for their 12oz coffee to 10oz bags. Which isn't a problem for me except that they kept the same price, and even now have increased the price for their 10oz bags for seemingly every blend. So, firstly it was less coffee for the same price, now it's less coffee for more money. At best this is some clueless redesigning of packaging that maybe meets some shipping or storing need better. At worst it's just a shameless way to squeeze more money out of people and hope they don't notice. Which, again, it's still good coffee, but your money could be better spent somewhere else.
My first review of this coffee didn't do it justice. I don't get blends often, but this is one you shouldn't pass up. The flavor is all the best tropicl fruit flavors. Its the brighter fruit flavor that has sweet fruit flavor with a clean finish. This is how you do blends.
Very well balanced. Expected it to be a tad bit more acidic, but was still very good.
I really enjoyed this blend. I normally stick with single origins but this coffee might change my mind moving forward.
The best coffee I have ever try so far. I became a fan of Onyx after buying this. Very Very Fruity. Fruity coffee usually has too acid taste, but its body is balanced. Aftertaste is a slightly floral scent. This is a coffee you will be willing to drink every day.
Super tasty. Very acidic. PH came out to be 4.26, far below most others. Overall, great blend.
Bright fruit forward espresso. Clear notes of peach and mango. The mango comes through nicely in a cappuccino or latte. One of the most unique I’ve had so far from mistobox.
_much_ brighter acidity, strong clear juiciness
Bright and fruit forward. Pleasure to drink
Made into espresso using the standard 2:1 recipe. Very light and smooth. Definitely a slightly fruity taste, and extremely enjoyable. Definitely one of the better blends I've had.
The blend of washed / naturally processed beans was a great choice for these beans. Fruity while maintaining balance - a little richer than expected.
I've loved both coffees that I've gotten from Onyx.
Delightful. Really nice fruit flavor with a light finish. Brewing Chemex.
Fruity and wonderful.
I am brewing using a Melodrip and a Chemex with bleached filters. I'm grinding my coffee with a burr grinder.
The best coffee blend that I've had this year and is a coffee that any adventuring soul could appreciate. Notes of Tropical fruit salad and a mild to moderate acidity, light syrupy body not juicy, but not thick. A very fruit forward flavor profile with notes of mango, pineapple, and peach. A truly delicious cup of coffee.
